wow, talk about diamond in the rough… this place is incredible! sylvia’s place is like visiting your favorite auntie who’ll make you whatever you want. and each one of her recipes is tied to a special experience she’s had, so every bite feels like turning a page to a special story. their artisan breads are baked in cast iron pots and are paired well with butter and her homemade apricot preserve. they also have a great selection of cheeses: jarlsberg, edam, aged cheedar, manchedo, and their seasonal white stilton with cranberries and apricots eaten on top of gingersnaps. amazing. kitchen gems: turkey soup & turkey pot pie my favorite part of thanksgiving is the food the day after. i LOVE anything with leftover turkey, put it in a burrito and i will probably eat it and love it. so there was no surprise for my falling in love with sylvia’s concoctions. the soup is simple and hearty, just blanched veggies, rice and turkey. same goes for the turkey with buttery, flakey crust, smothered in gravy. wow. again, sylvia’s place is incredible. it was my absolute pleasure to find this place, filling up on her great stories and great comfort food. i am satisfied.
