Non-GMO…organic…grass fed… free range… churned with the tears of Krishna. Crunchy Mom ice cream nirvana. As you would expect, there is no FD&C representation here. My daughter wasn’t impressed with the lack of vibrant hues, however this kid will chase cotton candy pop rocks with grape Kool-Aid, so take that for what it’s worth. Once she sampled the decadent chocolate ice cream, she was a convert. I wasn’t planning on getting anything, but after testing some of the creative flavors I settled on a more traditional cookies n’ cream. If you’re feeling adventurous, check out the bacon and bourbon ice cream.(I wasn’t.) Is our venerated Thrifty ice cream evolving beyond the classic toward an endless confection of chemical-free superlatives? Maybe. Is this trend delicious and worth savoring every moment of? Absolutely.

Ice cream was good and hit the spot, owner & staff very pleasant. Clean place. Sat at the counter, bar stools hard to sit at for short people. Would suggest purse hooks installed under counter and there wasn’t a baby changing station in rest rooms.

Great ice cream, excellent customer service, plenty of seating and I’ve been there twice in a week. I’ve tried the honey comb, gooey cake, orange cream, and toffee coffee. Every bit of it is divine. Love, love love.

Huge fan of this place! Very friendly staff the few times I’ve gone. Tonight the woman was so friendly and knowledgable I assumed she was the owner(fun hair do with shaved sides). She gave us a ton of time to talk, hear about the flavors, and let us try whatever flavors we were interested in. The ooey gooey butter cake was AMAZING! So tasty and rich. The Mississippi mud pie was sinfully tasty, and the almond joyous did make my mouth sing(just as the sales lady told me it would)!! Can’t wait to go back and try more flavors!

This is some expensive ice cream, but gosh is it good. They will happily let you try all their perfectly made original flavored and after doing so you’ll want them all! They had one made with bourbon, my favorite is their cookies and cream. Also tried the honeycomb which is amazing!

Screamery has just opened a second shoppe on Speedway. Check out the best hand crafted ice cream in all of Tucson this weekend during the Grand Opening. They have flavors that will blow your mind. Experience ice cream the way it was made on the farm. They were the first in the State to pasteurize their own ice cream base for all their amazing infusions and blend-ins.

So many of my friends love this place. We finally decided to check it out. I love the idea of no artificials, mostly organic, etc. The ice cream is good. 16 flavor choices seem like a lot, but most of them are boring or similar to each other. Plain flavors: chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, almond fudge(chocolate made with almond milk: dairy free). Nutty flavors(I can’t stand nuts in my ice cream): butter pecan, rocky road(more nuts than ice cream, I couldn’t see any marshmallows in it, it was so covered in nuts), almond joy(this one was actually pretty good despite the nuts). Coffee flavors(not a fan of coffee): Mississippi mud pie(coffee base, not chocolate base), coffee toffee. Honey flavors: honeycomb, bee’s knees. Alcohol flavor(I don’t partake): bourbon bacon. That left standard flavors: cookies and cream, mint chip, and butter cake(vanilla with vanilla cake– yawn!). There was a huge absence of any chocolate-based flavor with *stuff* in it(Besides the nut-insane rocky road) Also… no caramel flavor? Weird. The ice cream itself is very good(I went with mint chip), and the ice cream nachos(waffle cone chips, ice cream and hot fudge) is genius(delicious hot fudge, btw) but they definitely need to be aware of the varieties they offer at one time. We will stick with our favorite: brushfire creamery. They always have an amazing variety of flavors available making it nearly impossible to decide. Their orange dream habanero is out of this world!

Delicious! Mostly organic, grass fed… Honey comb ice cream is unbelievable! Ive got several times, brought friends, they fall in love too… It is pricey, 2 adults plus kid we spend $ 20. When I go grocery shopping I will only buy organic, so I’m used to paying more in general. But I think prices are still kinda high for ice cream. I will be back but not as often as I like.

My wife and I finally went by and tried the Screamery. The Mississippi Mudpie was like eating a scoop of sugar with every bite. It tasted fine with the small sample scoop, but once I was taking normal spoonfuls, it was far too sweet for me. I had a scoop of the Coffee Toffee as well and that was good, but only had one small piece of toffee in the scoop. The cost per scoop is pretty high and had we chose to bring our four kids with us, it would have cost us close to $ 40. At this price point, I’d rather go to Frost Gelato.

On a normal day I could take or leave ice cream and most types of sweets, give me a tortilla over cookie any day, but the Screamery is so very different. Their unique flavor combinations leave me wide-mouthed and drooling every time I walk in, and knowing the ice cream isn’t filled with potentially harmful hormones and chemicals keeps me coming back. I have been taking my son sometimes weekly for about eight months now and the staff has been friendly, courteous, and helpful every time I have gone. I love that they constantly have new flavor combinations frequently, and flavors that match the seasons and holidays. The first ice cream I tried was a strawberry balsamic. I still dream of the incredible flavor. I honestly tried it on a whim and it’s been my favorite flavor ever since. I’ve also loved their Sangria sorbet, because who wouldn’t like a cocktail in the form of a sweet frozen treat, and their Game Day(I think) ice cream; chocolate ice cream with pretzels, potato chips and a few other indulgent ingredients that melted together incredibly well. Other favorites included bourbon & bacon, Rocky Road, pumpkin pie, chocolate with chiles, and one of their regulars that has cake in it. I think I might need to stop by this weekend and see what’s new.

Coming here is fun, delicious, and I always meet other lovers of ice cream. Owner Kenny is enthusiastic and helpful as is Katy, who guided me thru 8 tastes til I decided on strawberry today. Almost got the burnt bourbon or butter pecan. And their ice creams are now @ whole foods stores!

Super good and high quality ice cream, to be sure. Such wonderful and unique favors. I always have a hard time deciding which new flavor to try next. Prices are high and serving sizes are small. You DO pay for quality and In This instance, if the quality remains, then so will we!

The«creamery» part of the name of this place is misleading because this type of ice cream is absolutely not the creamiest. It’s got a nice concept going with only hormone free milk from grass fed cows being used which is great. The flavor combinations are interesting and creative with an appealing simplicity to them. The CONSISTENCY of the ice cream though is more like ICEMILK which was a total bummer. It seems like this ice«cream» is made from skim milk. Sadly, the velvety smoothness and creamy decadence I associate with an excellent ice cream were nowhere to be found. The sweetness is there, the flavors are there, it LOOKS like quality ice cream but the fat content is off and left me screaming, NOOOOOOO! Baskin Robbins, Thrifty’s, dare I say even DQ’s ice creams naturally have the viscosity I’m referring to. Freddy’s frozen custard slaughters this place by comparison. The Screamery is a clean store with great customer service. The ice cream definitely has potential to be outstanding. They’re just not there yet.

UNBELIEVABLYDELICIOUS!!! I am floored – so fresh and creamy and everything you could ever want in ice cream. Clearly their in-house pasteurization and handmade techniques do the trick! Flavors options are pretty unique without being too weird. I had sweet cream honeycomb(THEBEST!) and ooey gooey buttercake. I’m only sad that the flavors are so delicious that I probably won’t ever try anything else! I feel as if I have undergone a religious experience – I am ruined for all other ice cream shops! I AMINLOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVE! Was finally at this end of town and stopped in. First tested Marshmallow Mash-Up — «marshmallow infused base mixed with homemade M&M rice crispy treats.» WHOAAA! Then I tried Sweet Cream Honey Comb — «sweet cream ice cream with handmade honeycomb pieces.» AREYOUKIDDINGME!!! Then for baseline, I just had to try their«regular»(nothing’s «regular» here) Chocolate — «two blends of Ghirardelli chocolate for the perfect chocolate flavor.» *GASP* EYESROLLINGINTHEBACKOFMYHEAD I get two scoops.(Wish I could have gotten four or five.) Sweet Cream Honey Comb and Chocolate. As I take a spoonful heading out the door, I exclaim in a semi-loud voice, «This is INCREDIBLE!» Yeah, that good.

After hearing good things about the Screamery I thought I’d better check it out. Good location and very friendly staff to greet you with all kinds of information about why their ice cream is the bestest. I was able to taste several different flavors before setting on chocolate peppermint. I thought I’d try that Sonoran Chocolate but was told it was quite fiery. Maybe I’ll try it on another day. My final choice was very tasty! I wish they offered more flavors but maybe that will come with time. But other than that, it’s a wonderful neighborhood place to grab some delicious ice cream.

In house Pasteurization is what sets this ice cream apart. Less than 5 ice cream shops in the entire United States Pasteurize their diary products in house. It’s an expensive process, but the owner of the Screamery is ice cream obsessed, and he wanted to produce the best ice cream possible. Ice cream aficionados will appreciate the subtleties of flavor that this process imparts upon the ice cream. The flavors will be more imbedded into the ice cream, especially alcoholic flavors. The bourbon ice cream will taste like the best bourbon ice cream in the world thanks to the pasteurization. The booze will taste like it’s part of the ice cream DNA instead of feeling like it’s just being worn like a winter coat. Can you say creamy? This is ridiculously rich and creamy stuff! The owner came from the construction business. Check out his beefy forearms! He is an all around American Dude. The shop will have country music playing and the polo shirt that the owner wears is bright construction orange reminiscent of his previous career. He isn’t a chef or hipster foodie but he does know to use quality organic ingredients. His flavors are good old-fashioned American inspired. Thinks Hans homemade for those in California. Whole Foods has already approached him to carry his ice cream in their shops, which is awesome. The Screamery could use the business, being located on the edge of Tucson, far away from the University Crowd, schools, and the main touristy part of town. The investment into the pasteurization process was steep and it is nice to see that he is on his way to getting a return for it. All around nice guy, who is learning the ice cream business as he does it. He didn’t do market research to select a location. He just jumped right in and opened a shop close to home. There is so much to love about this place. The naiveté of the owner, the amazingness of the product and the charm of special construction touches to appeal to children. Love the little astroturff covered footstool that allows kiddos to step and and press their noses up against the ice cream case to select a flavor. Also love the large open repurposed wood counter(made from a nearby defunct bowling alley-notice the markings for where you’d line up your ball) which allows kids to plop up and watch the pasteurization process. Also loved that he didn’t know much about Unilocal,or how it worked, and was surprised to find that he was the first place that popped up when you searched for ice cream in Tucson. I’m glad we went out of our way to patronize the Screamery. It was a very memorable ice cream experience. It was a luxurious treat to taste ice cream that was produced in this manner. Good luck guys! We’ll be back to visit next time we are in town.
