I have only been visiting the center for about the last two months or so. It is one of those gems we thankfully have in Tucson. The center is housed in a darling converted home in a lovely neighborhood and offerings a range of programs and sits most every day of the week. The Saturday and Sunday morning silent sits are amazing and last a half hour each, though you can stay for multiple sits. These are not guided meditations, though the center does offer those during the week. When you walk in make sure to sign your name for the monthly count. The center offers ample pillows, cushions and blankets for your comfort. Take a set and wait for the lead, who rings the bell to mark the start of the session. Each time I have gone, I have gotten to that wonderful state of calmness when you can actually hear and feel your heart beating! The reverberation is amazing and so strong that, sitting completely still, you can feel your body gently moving with every beat. Stunning! The chime sounds at the end of the 30 minute session at which point you are free to leave and the newcomers are free to take a seat. Also, the center boasts a full calendar of events throughout the year with classes, guest lecturers and other offerings for both beginning and advanced meditation students. As of late, I have only made it out to the silent sits, so I cannot yet speak about the programming. The grounds very neat and lovely. Just outside is a nice, shaded retreat of sorts for sitting and walking. The pomegranates are vibrantly growing at the moment. The place, as far as I have seen on the weekend, tends to be very serene, with people about silently, or speaking in a whisper. It is quite calming and rejuvenating.
