First things first– The YWCA is NOT the YMCA. mmmkay?
The YWCA Tucson is beyond five stars of awesomeness. The entire crew leading this organization is bursting with so much love, passion and vision that I can’t even see straight. They’re amazing!
What’s the YWCA, you ask? Well– It’s a nonprofit organization that assists women and their families with overcoming poverty, homelessness and racial disparities. Their programs vary from career coaching, to employment workshops, on the job training. Your Sisters Closet is available to women in need of clothes for interviews. Clothing donations are accepted year round!
Beyond all of the amazing resources they have for the community, they also have a full café that’s open to the public! You can stop in for a cup of coffee, fresh pastry’s, smoothies and more. They are currently working on expanding their catering services as well. The purpose of the Café is to create employment opportunities for young women as part of the YWorks programming. All proceeds from The Café are used to support the YWCA’s mission.
Additionally, they feature local artists in their Galleria. Currently they are rotated on a monthly basis, but will be transitioning to quarterly shows. Totally worth a visit!
AND you can shop at their artisan’s showcase. They have a small retail area in the lobby of the building that’s stocked with locally made goodies, art and jewelry.
The YWCA can also be rented for special events and even weddings.
This place is a jack of all trades and a true GEM in our community.

In addition to the great programs, the YWCA has a hidden gem. Their inner courtyard is perfect for small receptions, concerts, weddings, and meetings.
