Do It Center

Horrible… I just went to DIY Center to buy wood and I needed to cut notches into the wood since I dont have a jig. The person was extremly rude when I asked to get the wood cut and said that he wouldnt cut the wood although he was working at the saw. I was surprised because Ive gotten tons of wood cut here before and when I asked why, he said he wouldnt do it for me. No explaination or anything, that was just his answer and that he wouldn’t. Maybe he was scarred to cut 3″ notches into wood. But there are way nicer ways to say it, just be honest if you dont have the skills. Went to the front to complain that the guy refused to cut the wood and the lady at the register just shruged and pointed at someone else. Thats when I said forget it and told them I was never coming back. Went to osh down the street and they cut the notches no prob. Never again!

Not a big chain store. It does have a huge inventory of stuff for your home improvement needs and great if you need something for that unexpected problem in need of a quick fix. It’s local and convenient.
The employees are very helpful and knowledgeable. I needed some anodized screws but couldn’t find ones with a traditional type bit head, those ones were non anodized. With a whole aile dedicated to screws sometimes you just need to ask for help…
The sales person pointed out that the anodized screws I was looking for were available but with the non-​traditional head (star drive) and that the package included the drill bit.fantastic.money saved… sold!

A big box hardware store that still maintains a small town feel. Whenever I come in, I’m offered help. Maybe that’s because I’m a single girl… but it’s not offensive and I’ve actually needed the help. The last two times I’ve been working on fixing my toilet and required advice on the replacement parts… the staff was very helpful.
They have a gardening area and a friendly resident cat that prowls around like it owns the place. I like their holiday display area and their clean restroom too. This is a place where a single girl with a do-​it-​herself attitude can feel comfortable. Thanks Do It Center!

This place is so expensive I figured to stop in to get a brace box for one of my customers the price says 1599 I was like whatever is better than driving the Home Depot so I get to the cashier and it says it’s $ 22 you guys need to get your price tags right cuz its wasting my time other people’s time I will never shop there again because you guys are overpriced I rather drive 7 miles to Home Depot and pay the right price for for the parts I need

Staff was pleasant but manager was rude and unhelpful. I left empty handed… over a light bulb.

As a Tujunga homeowner and with all the happiness of ownership of an older home, I am here at least once a month for home repair parts. They seem to have a read on the types of plumbing and other fixtures in the surrounding community since I can always find what I need here. Home Depot only carries the 20% of items that 80% of homes need-​and often of poor quality, not commercial grade-​so they are a waste of my time and it is also clueless about customer service, so I have long since stopped patronizing HD at all. In addition Do It Center is also the closest hardware store to my house, so I usually stop there first regardless, then on to OSH or Lowes if D. I.C. does not have it. Staff has always been helpful to me-​I have never encountered the characters noted in some of the Unilocalers comments. I have noted that they also have staff who speak Spanish, Armenian and at least one Chinese dialect to help out customers.

This place sucks! Don’t go here you’ll just waste your time! The staff are very unfriendly and opposite of helpful. I will take the extra time to drive to the Home Depot then go here.

Love the employee’s at this store but take exception to a particular policy they have been asked to enforce of late. No backpacks are allowed in the store and yet purses are. Both are simply bags with zippers in my book. I have mentioned this only to be met with resistance. I bike everywhere and the backpack is my purse. Why the discrepancy? Sure crime is a problem but their policy in this regard is defensive, myopic, and sexist. Moreover I have spent $$$ through the years and resent being treated like a criminal. As a matter of principal I will now take the majority of my business to OSH or Merithew’s where I can shop with out being accosted.

They are close which is a plus and I do prefer to do my business locally. That said, there are a few things I find annoying about them. It may sound trivial, but the biggie is that they always ask for ID if you pay with a credit card. First, that is illegal and against VISA (and most other CC companies policy) 2^nd — the amount of times I’ve been in there, they should know me on a first name basis. Yet, always — ask for ID. It’s insulting.
3^rd — one of the old ‘floor’ guys there is really sullen. I have on several occasions, stood next to him and waited as he helps a customer and then, the little bugger tries to walk away or INTO me; as if he had no idea I was there waiting to ask something. I WILL say — he knows where things are — but why does he act as if he has some place he needs to get to in a rush?
I actually drove the extra couple miles to OSH yesterday because of him specifically. Do-​it center lost a couple bucks because of him.

I just went to the Do It center for some lumber, I got the guy to cut 2 sheets of plywood for me. Very good service and the store remodel is coming along great. I found them on Google searching for Home Improvement stores. Not sure why Unilocal or Unilocal users are calling this place at 3.5 stars. When the business is clearly a 5 star miniature version of Home Depot but much better service.
This is a great home improvement store located in Tujunga, next to La Crescenta and Sunland.
They have a lot of nice tools too which is great.

Very helpful and friendly staff, has extensive selection of items and prices are competitive (although its competitors can offer slightly lower rates). We love the convenient location and the fact that this local store hires students so they can make some money while attending school.
Say hello to Kevin when you meet him. He is that guy in the wood department, I think. He’s helped my husband many times. He’s always helpful!

It’s not fancy, but they definitely have a good variety of merchandise. I often come here to buy vegetables and seeds for my garden. The resident cat is very sweet and the customer service is very good.

Purchased items Saturday Aug. 30^th. Returned them 1 hour later. I was told a refund will be credited to my account. It is now Sept. 5^th and still no refund. BUYER BEWARE!

Do-​It is not the closest hardware store to my house, but they’re so friendly and helpful that I go a little bit further to shop there. Yesterday I needed a window screen repaired and was pleasantly surprised that they charged only $ 5.99 for my screen whereas a screen company that recently came to my house charged $ 40 per screen. I dropped it off and figured I’d pick it up the next day. I was only halfway home when Jordan called telling me he was done and it was ready for pickup!

Long version:
Went by with my dad to exchange a chain saw. We usually go here because it’s close and they have some things that home depot at times don’t have. Rep at the front was super nice and helped us make a quick and easy exchange. I’m guessing it might have been easier because we bought something a bit more pricier and just paid the difference on it. The only thing I wish they had were more staff that can help us when we had questions about different types of products we were looking at. We looked around and couldn’t find anybody for assistance so I just resorted to looking up the information on my phone. I also noticed that when we were making the exchange/​purchase, there was a line forming behind us but only the 1 rep at the cash register. I looked over toward the inside of the store and noticed a small group of 3 – 4 employees talking to each other, but when the 1 rep called out for assistance over the intercom, I didn’t see any of them coming over to help. I’m hoping that they maybe weren’t cash register tenders and not just sitting around while customers are waiting. Overall, I do like this place for its convenience factor more than anything.

We really really like this store because if we are feeding hummingbirds, building a sculpture, matching a paint, buying new garden materials or fixing a broken something or other we come here.
The staff seem really helpful no matter what department you are in.
I have never, ever had the experience I have at cough cough depot cough, where I have to run like a track star to find the only person in the nearby 4 square miles to ask a question, and we find their prices are good. I unlike others am not willing to drive 4+ more miles to get to a cough cough depot cough just to save a few cents on an item. Seriously? Don’t you think about the gas and the time involved?
Today we had to match a paint for a sculpture and got immediate friendly service.
They are considerate when customers come in from the hot day to have a nice big fan on the cashier’s area too. Great to their staff in that way and we get to benefit from the coolness too.
I like their assortment of pottery for my plants.

WATCH THEIR PRICES !!! I needed some electrical wire. Do It Center .49 cents a foot. Home Depot, .29 cents a foot.
They seem rather proud of their merchandise.

Great customer service and they have everything you could need for your home projects. One day I bought a lemon tree, mason jars and a hummingbird feeder. Prices seem far more reasonable than OSH (which is technically closer to us). Plus, OSH doesn’t have two shop kitties! These two cats are so laid back and love to get attention. They will also follow you around the store for a bit. This crazy cat lady loves that.
