I visited Dr. Berude today and I can say, without hesitation, he is a gem! As is everyone else I came into contact with. I talked with Patti at the reception desk a few weeks ago when making the appt and said I needed the endodontist with the most patience and understanding of a nervous/anxious patient in the chair. She said all the endos were good but maybe Dr. Berude would be a good fit for me. She was 100% correct! From the moment I saw him, some of my hyperness calmed down. His demeanor is calm and kind and he takes time to explain things, and WHY things need or don’t need to be done. The two chairside attendants were also very nice and allowed me to hold the xray so I wouldn’t gag(no fun, if you are also a gagger). It went well and then we sat and talked about everything and he did some testing, which I thought would be horrible, but was not at all. He is very gentle and tells you what he is doing and his voice is calm and matter of fact. It turns out I don’t need a root canal(yet) but one of my other teeth needs to be pulled. He explained why and the more I sat, the better I felt, and some of my nervousness went away. I may need Dr. Berude in the future for a root canal or some other specialized procedure and I will go, knowing that I’m in the best hands I can be in! If you are looking for an endodontist, I would highly recommend him. I would guess Kwan and Kwan(father and son) are equally as good if they’re in practice together.

I have nothing but high praises for Dr. Berude. He is an exceptional doctor who made my first ever root canal, a wonderful, and non painful experience. Coming in, I had all of these fearful/negative images in my head. I spent the night youtubing videos and reading other peoples feedback on their root canal experiences. Needless to say, Dr. Berude turned my fears into mere perception. He is very compassionate, understanding, and full of patience. He will take his time to prep you, answer all your questions/concerns, and guide you through the entire process. I never felt more at ease. I was expecting excruciating pain from the needle injection, but felt nothing more then a mere pinch. In fact, it hurts less then getting a tattoo embedded in your skin! Once the novocain kicks in, your mouth will be numb and all you’ll feel is the pressure and vibration from the utensils. I have no side affects, so residual effects and no longing aches. I can’t wait to get the crown(although, it will cost me an arm and a leg) so that my teeth will become more stable. I really wish he was a general dentist so that I can make him my primary dentist. Needless to say, if I ever need another root canal done(knock on wood) he will be my go to guy.

Dr. Berude has done two quality root canals for me over the last few years and has treated me very well. It was just recently though that I became extremely grateful for Dr. Berude’s quality and total patient care. I was referred to him for a new tooth problem last week and he found that it was something he probably couldn’t solve long term and told me that his recommendation was to get the tooth extracted. Being my first time with such news, I asked Dr. Berude a hundred different questions about bridges, and other options and then about the process of extraction and implants. He sat and discussed all these things with me very thoroughly and patiently; in fact he encouraged my questions and was very understanding about my hesitation in making a decision. He didn’t make me feel rushed or dumb and I finally resolved myself to the decision that the tooth really would need an extraction. Dr. Berude told me to call if I needed anything. I thanked him for his help and went to the counter only to discover that he had not charged me a penny for the visit. This was impressive considering that x-ray’s had been taken, he had spent at least a half hour examining and talking with me and the fact that I had taken a slot that was expected to a for an hour and a half root canal. It’s one thing to have a dentist do quality root canals, it’s another thing to feel that, as a patient, you’re a high priority. I probably wouldn’t have minded paying for the visit, but this action told me more than anything that his concern was genuine and he respected me as a patient.
