The mall closes at 9. I got there at 8:25 expecting to get my daughter’s ears pierced. I guess they are doing good with business since the old lady at the counter turned my business away. And there was just one other person ahead of me. Oh well I won’t return there to have it done since she sounded like she wanted to be out of there. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

After begging me for weeks, wanting to get her ears pierced, I took my 6-yr-old to Piercing Pagoda at Westfield Mall in Southcenter this past weekend. I must tell you, this child is typically deathly afraid of shots. In fact, on more than one occasion, her pediatricians have had to vigorously rub their ear drums after listening to her shrill cries. And that was even before the shots were administered! Needless to say, my husband and I had had several talks with her regarding her mental and emotional preparedness for the«Big Day». I had called in advance to find out what time there would be two employees working, so that her ears would get pierced simultaneously. Judging from her history, I was worried that she might not allow them to come near her other ear, after feeling the pain of the first piercing. They marked her ears with a dot and asked me for my approval. I had them move it up a bit and center it better. The two gals placed our pre-selected and pre-purchased 24k gold piercing earrings on the dot and began their countdown, three, two, one… To our pleasant surprise, and to the credit of the two young ladies working at the kiosk, as well as our brave little girl, no tears were shed, and the mall remained relatively quiet in the absence of the aforementioned shrill cries and screams that we were almost certain were in the cards for us that day. Now our 4-yr-old is starting to make noise about her ears being pierced…
