We had a fabulous lunch! Service was excellent and the gentleman recommended his homemade pepper vinegar to try being he saw me trying the trappeys. It was Serrano pepper and really played off it well. The portions were huge and the bun never sogged down on my coneys. Taste was great and hubbys frito pie was super! Great little find that we will come back to! It is worth the visit! Open 11 – 3 I believe on weekdays didn’t pay attention to weekend.

This place is in kind of a crummy shopping center, right between a Mexican grocery store and a dollar general, but it’s a diamond in the rough. In my opinion, they have the best hot dogs out of all the Coney Island style restaurants in town. I also started to get the frito pie there recently since Rons Chili down the street closed, and it’s not bad! My house is just a few blocks from here and im happy to have it in the neighborhood.

Hidden away in a strip mall off of 51st and Peoria, this place offers the standard coney fair you are used to, in a uniquely decorated(lots of neon lights) atmosphere. I can’t tell the difference between the chili at this place and the plethora of other Coney Island’s in Tulsa. But suffice to say, it’s great. I did notice that the buns here are a bit larger but softer. Service and staff are super friendly. $ 5.99 gets you 3 coneys or 3 tamales and a large drink. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

If I was rating on food alone, they’d get five stars! However, the service I received today was well below fair. The gentleman that is normally there wasn’t there today. If he had been, I know I wouldn’t have received the attitudes and poor customer experience that I did today. The girl at the counter was very friendly towards the regular customers in front of me, but was very terse with me. I asked for a Frito Chili Pie with chips on the side to go. She said, «We’re not doing all that.» and looked at the other lady working and said, «She wants us to separate everything. We’re not going to do all that. It’s too difficult.» The other lady seemed to agree. So I then decided to order a small bowl of chili and buy the Fritos in a bag. The price shot up from $ 4.00 to $ 8.00?! Come on, now. I’m not paying $ 8 for a Frito Chili Pie no matter how good the food is. I’m going to give them another try simply because the chili is THAT good, but this was a horrible experience.

A great little place! It’s a few doors down from AutoZone, so pull into the shopping center parking lot where you see AutoZone. I had passed by it many times and never went in, but my relatives loved it and got me to go in with them. Well … I’m sorry I didn’t go in earlier. I’ve talked to the owner and he is dedicated to keeping up the great tradition there and having the best ingredients used in what they serve. I haven’t had it all, but the Coney Island dogs are great!

I generally avoid places like Coney I-Lander as I never usually like their chili. A work friend recommended Allens and it has become my FAVORITE and only place to go when I decide to go out for lunch. My usual is the«Special» — 3 coneys with the condiments you like and a large drink for $ 5.25. Yesterday, I went out on a limb and tried the 3-Way and it was AMAZING. I am going to have a hard time deciding which one I want now. The owner Tom and helper Brandy are exceptionally nice regardless if you are a regular or not. I love supporting small, local business and I can’t think of a place more deserving of my hard earned dollar. Kudos!

Allen’s is tucked away in a strip mall at the Southeast corner of 51st and Peoria, right off the Peoria exit of I-44. It’s pretty much a lunch-only place, and since I don’t work anywhere near there, it’s always been on my «love to try it but never had the chance» place. Well, the stars were finally in alignment and I had my shot. And oh. My. Goodness. The chili. Pure Heaven is the chili. Yes, it’s a little mild, but that lets the flavor shine through. And if you want heat, there are condiments for that. I left it as-is on my chili 3-way. Although I will tell you, crumbling some saltines gave it great flavor, so maybe just a touch of salt? Anyway, I’ve yet to try a hot dog at this hot dog stand, but that chili will keep me coming back whenever I’m in the neighborhood at the right time. The prices are reasonable. The owners are really nice as well, so you feel good about giving them your business.

OK… I’m about at the limit of my neighborhood, but I stopped for lunch at Allen’s today. I had heard of the homemade chili so I checked it out on a Frito pie. This was good chili, and although on the mild side, it can be spiced up with hot pepper. I also had a good polish dog with grilled onions. Overall a very satisfying lunch… and the price is right. Check it out.
