The Cox store itself is actually OK — I’ve only been twice and had mixed results in my two visits there. I went there to return all my Cox hardware because I was switching to ATT. On the first visit I returned the hardware and the lady was pretty rude. I didn’t remember my exact address(I also had moved days earlier to a new apartment) because I’ve moved several times since college and I didn’t send mail to my address(basically I had no reason to memorize it, even though I know my parents’ address, my college address, etc.). This warranted an eye-roll from her. I felt bad for being such a hassle to her, but Cox had been a huge hassle to me for many years. On my second visit(to return the piece of hardware I forgot) the gentlemen who helped me were much nicer. So why did I leave Cox? There were several reasons. Overall, I’d rather not have cable and think it’s a huge money dump.(Work all day and then come home to sit in front a TV every night?) That being said, I do watch sports and do like a few shows. One reason is that they make you rent a phone if you want to get a cheaper price on cable. Millennials don’t have home phones and I tried very hard to have the service but not take a number. No, they insisted I take the phone hardware and take a number. I never plugged in a phone or gave the number to anyone, but was still bothered! So I’d watch TV and telemarketers’ numbers would interrupt whatever was on. Then, whenever I needed service they’d ask for my phone number and of course they’d need that phone number — I asked them to change it to my cell phone number but each and every time it didn’t happen. Another reason is that there is no price transparency. Whenever you start cable at a new apartment, they give you some great low rate. At some point later, you’re charged more. If you call to ask why, it’s because you had some special offer and it expired. Yet another reason is that the customer service is poor. Cox runs advertisements mocking satellite providers for having outages. Of course, Cox often had outages. On one occasion I was trying to watch a sporting event and tweeted Cox. There was nothing they could do for me. Did they make any attempt to make it right? No, of course not. This was the moment I knew I would cancel Cox at the first opportunity. There are more reasons(they send too much mail, it’s generally expensive, etc.) but I was just never happy with Cox. I hope they are able to improve their offerings so that when my current cable contract expires I might consider them again. Even better, I hope that I can buy the channels I want directly and avoid the cable companies outright. Perhaps one day that opportunity will come.

I would agree that the stafff here seemed very friendly and eager to help without being pushy. PROTIP: Purchase your own modem and save. I found the exact modem they wanted to rent me on Amazon for $ 18 rather than paying $ 7 per month to rent one. It payed for itself within 4 months.
