This was THEWORST race I have EVER done. EVER. This was the first year the Donut Run was done in Tulsa(According to the Donut Run website, it’s already scheduled to be back in 2014. I don’t know why. Please go away or sell yourself to someone with a brain/common sense). I guess to increase registration/get the name out there, they had Living Social and Groupon deals. That’s all fine and dandy. However, it would be nice if every website said the same thing. Let me back up. The premise of the Donut Run is to eat a certain amount of donuts at a certain time and run a 5k. However, the Living Social deal, Groupon deal, and Donut Run websites ALL had different information. Eat 6 donuts? Eat 12 donuts? Eat them all before the race? Eat them while you run? Finish within 35 minutes to get the«medal»? Finish within 40 minutes to get the«medal»? NOONEKNEWWHATWASGOINGON. When people asked on the Facebook page for clarification, the moderator contradicted themselves. Only after tons of questions did the Donut Run FINALLY e-mail everyone(less than 24 hours before the race, mind you) to «clarify» everything. Packet pickup was also a horrible mess. They made everyone(500PEOPLE) pick up with packets the morning of the race. Packet pickup started at 8am. The Fun Run started at 8:30am and the 5k started at 9am. What SANE person would think 500 packets would be able to be distributed in 30 minutes? Needless to say, the Fun Run started at the same time as the 5k — both started late(9:10am). The tiny tent they had everyone picking up their packets from wasn’t even labeled, so people couldn’t get into efficient lines by alphabetical order. There was one MASSIVE line and you didn’t know where to go until you got basically right up to the tent. When I FINALLY(after half an hour of waiting) got to the front of the line, I found out they«couldn’t find my sister’s bib»(who registered MONTHS in advance), so she had to get a totally new bib/number. I think because of this, we didn’t even get our«team» time listed on the results page. A brand new race with all these horrible logistical issues — you would think it was a brand new racing company putting on their very first race, right? WRONG. Apparently these people have put on races in Tulsa before(WHAT?!). Only good thing was the course — fast and flat with a nice change of scenery(pretty fall leaves!!). I would NEVER do this race again. EVER. EVER.
