After reading up on the various bike shops in town, I decided to try Midtown for two reasons: reputation for knowledgable staff and location. For full disclosure, the shop charges, on average, 15%-25% more than all other shops in town for services. A regular tune up will run you approximately $ 85. I didn’t mind this pricing since they were able to turnaround the bike within 3 days. All other shops have a minimum of 7 days but do charge less($ 60-$ 70). However, I was bothered by the pricing for a fitting/sizing. The rep told me it would cost a little extra. I expected $ 10, maybe $ 20 tops. Instead, when he wrote up the invoice it turned out to be $ 50. This may have stemmed from me saying I was novice to the bike scene. Either way, this was exploitative and unnecessary. If you’re looking for a helpful, friendly shop and positive experience, this wouldn’t be my first choice.

These guys go above & beyond for me every time. I’ve tried all the shops in town & I stick with them for several reasons; friendly, knowledgable, only sell you what you need & they’ll tell you what you don’t. They service all makes, but sell mainly Specialized. I ride Mountain, Road, CX, & some Touring, so I have several bikes & I often need service or gear. I found some ridiculously low prices on closeout gear today, so make sure to check that out if you’re in the market. The turnaround time on service is always quick as well, and they give a discount on all service & merchandise if you’ve bought your bike here.
