Okay, so, when you come to Tulsa, you HAVE to see the GIANT praying hands. It’s cool to stand there and see how big they are. Plus, its a popular thing to see. I mean, how often do you get to see something like this?

This sculpture used to be in front of the Oral Roberts City of Faith Medical Center, now the Cityplex Towers. The story was they used to be cupped hands but a workman on the tower dropped a quarter and the hands clapped together to catch it and stayed that way.

As fat as road side attractions goes, this is big. 60 feet big. I thought we was trying to catch a big butterfly but JulieH says they’re praying. My idea maybe more realistic but regardless of your religious affiliation, visting the home of Oral Roberts University is something different, especially if you’re not from the South and used to institutions like this. Where the hands clap away today is not there original home. Moved across campus they welcome you off the main drag. A very convenient parking lot just off to the right provides a quick in and out while you walk off the long road trip.

Actually I give this place 3 ½ stars. When I asked a locals what is there to see and do in Tulsa one responded that for some reason tourists like to see the big praying hands at the Oral Roberts University campus. That comment alone intrigued us so we thought a quick trip wouldn’t hurt. Had to do my own search because this is not a university I am familiar with so googled what it was about and what they had to offer. Thank you google on filling me in on the history of the man that founded the university. The hands themselves are a pretty unique sculpture that decorates the entrance of the campus. I wouldn’t stop there though. The campus itself has some pretty unique architecture and so my husband and I did a quick walk through to see some of the buildings like the Prayer Tower up close. Extra half star goes to the unique architecture of the other buildings on campus in addition to the praying hands sculpture.
