This is a festival I try and attend every year. I have to say tho that each year this fest goes downhill a little bit more. Pros: I like that there were plenty of booths set up for liquor and wine. I liked the rugby matches as well and I have to say the quality of music has been pretty good for the last few years. I also love the fact that you can use money and not have to buy the ignorant tickets that the city makes Oktoberfest and Mayfest use. Cons: Starting from the arrival on the west side of the river. A number of us park south of 21st street in the lot and walk the bike/jogging trail to the event area just like we do for Oktoberfest. Now for $ 10 admission you would figure there would be some one there at that spot on the trail to sell tickets and take money, just like Oktoberfest, but you would be wrong. There is a guy standing there to either A) let you proceed down the trail past the event or B) tell you to walk back ½ mile where you came from and an additional ¾ mile to the one place taking money. Most of us walked down the trail and walked into the event without paying. I went back to the front and paid but if I did it and the 10+ that were ahead of me did it I imagine a lot of money was lost by that. Then once you are at the event and simply want a beer there was ONE place offering beer and it had a ridiculous line standing right next to the loudest tent on site. Beer was also warm like it had been poured and left to sit until some one wanted it, which was strange because they seemed to be out of most of what they had taps for. Food selections were also very restricted, Scottish food was alleged for sale but it was pretty bad. I went with an actual Scot from Scotland and he thought it was some kind of joke. There didn’t seem to be many vendors this year as well. The whiskey tasting has devolved to the point where they were passing out the samples in plastic cups with lids. Horrible. I hope things start to get better but I’m not going to hold my breath.

Absolutely fantastic event. Good for kids, parents, and teenagers. From Scottish games, to authentic food, to amazing talent from all over the world, including comedians, bands, and artist. This event is the best Tulsa has to offer.
