It’s been a while since I last went to Tallgrass, but I’m happy I made it back! Our waiter was fantastic, the cocktails were delish and the food was beautiful. I was very impressed by the seasonal dishes, flavored and menu creativity. Perfect spot for a girl’s night out.

Had my first dinner last night after moving back to Tulsa but it certainly won’t be my last. I love the local and fresh flavor in everything I tried, and the menu of the day all looked so good I barely looked at the normal menu. We started with some goat cheese churros with a beer sauce that were incredible. Crispy enough to be easy to cut and share but melt in your mouth delicious once they were on the plate. The best sauce with them was incredible – local chefs are doing a lot to turn me around on my dislike of beets! I had the pool boy cocktail, a delicious and fresh tasting Prairie vodka concoction I only wish I was drinking next to a pool. It had fresh cucumber and jalapeño, and was the perfect blend of refreshing with a bit of a kick. I had one, but could have gone for about 10 more. For dinner I had the arugula and fruit salad(trying to behave) which was very yum, lots of fresh apple and I loved the dressing. We ordered the strawberry hand pies at the suggestion of our server, who was lovely and attentive, but unfortunately they had run out. Quick to fix it, she brought us a peanut butter and chocolate pie slice that was a dreamy dessert for Reese’s cup lovers like me. We finished everything off with a shot of their fig-infused whiskey which is normally served with the bone marrow – perfect end to a perfect meal. If you’re looking for local and fresh with lots of options for every course, definitely check out Tallgrass – and take out of Towners here so they think all our restaurants are this good!

Tonight we had the field green salad which we usually order the kale salad. Dressing was perfect with the salad. Also had the flank steak and rabbit paella which both were excellent!!! Beautiful presentation. Favorite restaurant in Tulsa. Excellent food!

Tried this out tonight. Atmosphere and design of the restaurant was very nice along with the staff. The food wasn’t so great… I ordered the 16 oz ribeye but it was about 8 oz fat, not a very well marbled steak for the price and my first bite was a huge chunk of gristle. Others ordered the smoked chicken, grilled duck, and flat iron steak. None of it was anything impressive. Wayy overpriced in my opinion.

Connected to the Bramble place next door and also doing the«farm to table» stuff. But after a pretty heavy dinner the night before, I went down the menu and decided on the Mushroom Papardelle with a beer. The dish was excellent. A little tough to eat as the noodles were at least six inches long and they don’t «twirl» like spaghetti or linguine. But it was absolutely worth it. Three different types of mushrooms mixed into a rich broth with just a hint of parmesan cheese. I’m glad that my waiter also brought me a soup spoon as I cleaned the bowl. Really great stuff. Service was great, dinner was great. I enjoyed my meal here thoroughly.

Animal of the Day Tacos. They are served as 3,6,9 plates as an appetizer and these shown are the pork. The flavor balances out well, the meat was smoked a bit dry but extremely flavorful! And the cabbage and carrots added good texture to them. There was another small tortilla under each tiny taco that allowed you to clean up the portion that always falls out. The Pork Belly was amazing in every way. It was blackened on the top side, it was still very tender and worth getting it. Do not underestimate how great it is. I am glad I had a friend brag about it, it made the experience for me. The Scallops were scallops. The BBQ sauce that was served with them was great and really complimented the Belly well. Then came the Brisket Burger. It was not over the top, but the fried were. Seemed to me that they were cooked in duck fat(I didn’t ask). Their house-made ketchup was really sweet and was really enjoyable compared to the typical Heinz or Hunts. The mayonnaise was had a very strong garlic flavor but was enjoyed the same as above mainly because it was such a breath of fresh air as compared to the Big Branded versions. The prices are more steep, but well worth it for sure. We will have to get the dessert the next time we go, or simply get it to-go some day as a random afternoon treat all by itself.

I was a little unsure when my husband asked me to make reservations here. I don’t eat meat and this place is known for their meat. I walked in and I will be honest, the meat smelled delish! The restaurant is gorgeous. Really well done, but a bit noisy. The cocktails were really good, I had a martini and the hubs had the mule. Sweeter than most and really good! He started with the tacos that looked really yummy and were presented well. When looking at the menu they had two vegetarian options. I chose the mushroom pappardelle. It was so good! It had really deep, developed flavors which you don’t often find in meat-free foods. He ordered the pork chop with roasted vegetables. He was really impressed. I tried he veggies and they were done perfectly! Service here was fine, but it was lacking a little. Just didn’t get any personality or anything extra from our server. She was just there to bring our food and drinks, she didn’t offer any suggestions or energy. We skipped dessert but they had some good options. We will be back!

Sunday morning in downtown Tulsa, and we were in need of a satisfying brunch before a busy day of playing tourist. We wandered down 2nd Street, in between Detroit and Elgin Avenues to find Tallgrass Prairie Table. We beat the«Church crowd» to the restaurant, and so we were quickly seated, and Darius had a spicy Farmer John Bloody Mary in my hand while I was still reading the menu. Tallgrass prides themselves on being a Farm to Plate restaurant located in the heart of the historic Blue Dome entertainment district in downtown Tulsa. They serve modern American cuisine, and they partner with several local farms and ranches to bring in the freshest ingredients possible. The restaurant has an exposed brick and reclaimed barnwood décor with fun, artistic light fixtures throughout. My Bloody Mary was made with fresh greenhouse tomatoes, homemade pickled veggies, and a healthy shot of fresh horseradish to open my eyes and get my day off to a good start. I followed that with an order of Chilaquiles for my entrée, which turned out to be house-made tortilla chips, over easy cooked farm eggs, pork confit, salsa verde, diced onion, cilantro, house-made queso fresco, and a side of duck fat home fries. Wow, this was so delicious! The menu has a lot of traditional brunch offerings with omelets, French toast, steak & eggs, breakfast tacos, biscuits & gravy, shrimp and grits, chicken & waffles, and their version of a Summer Benedict served atop blue corn pancakes. I thought that the menu was very creative, and the food was exceptional. Tallgrass can clearly get very busy, so reservations are highly recommended. We happened to get there at just the right time on a Sunday afternoon, but the place was packed by the time that we left. This is a fantastic place to enjoy Sunday brunch, or a very unique dinner. I highly recommend a visit to Tallgrass!

The burger was super tasty as well as the fries. We also ordered the mushroom pasta and it had so much flavor… I really loved this place. I will definitely come back again.

Walked in hoping to just seat at bar —only to be told they don’t «usually open on Sunday» and tonight is by reservation only. The hostess was rude so needless to say I won’t be coming back to try their menu. Being pretentious seems to be the running code in this silly city.

Stopped in for brunch with friends. Unique menu with artisanal approach to some of the basic breakfast favorites. Ordered the Piggie and Eggs and husband ordered the Breakfast Taco’s. With the Piggie and Egg’s I had the choice of thick or thin bacon. The thick cut bacon was delicious. I also had a Mimosa and Coffee. The coffee was absolutely delightful. Great flavor. Everything we had consumed was delicious. The wait staff are very attentive and the décor is beautifully done. Great place for brunch.

Tallgrass is a fabulous place to have brunch in Downtown Tulsa. I came in during a Tornado filled weekend, there was nobody there. I am not sure how the crowd usually is, because since the weather was nasty, I am sure it kept people away. The menu is very«meaty» the only vegetarian friendly thing was the French toast. The pastry basket and the donuts looked amazing, but we were not hungry enough. My husband had the chilaquiles and he said they were tasty. The french toasts were pretty good. They have great prices and a ridiculously good looking and friendly staff. The décor and ambiance was nice and I would absolutely go back when I return to Tulsa.

Finally gave this place another try last night. Came here for my wife’s birthday with high hopes she would enjoy it more than i did on my last visit. She’s wanted to go for quite some time. Let me just say it was much better this time around. Our waiter made all the specials clear almost straight away, was very attentive, and very knowledgeable. Our appetizers were the bang bang shrimp(delicious), and an apple cheddar tarte tatin salad(excellent). My entrée was the fenugreek meatballs(pretty good), while my wife had the chicken roulade(moist and perfectly cooked). We were told the dessert was made in house from top to bottom. If that’s the case then i am very impressed. i’ll be back here for sure. I love the creative dishes on the menu.

I love the chandeliers and ambiance. I ordered bone marrow which I don’t see on a lot of menus and the combination of items that came with it were pretty unique and delicious. One downside.. They only have plain coffee… no lattes, etc., and I would expect a wider coffee selection at a place this fancy/trendy.

I came here for a birthday dinner with a large-ish group. When the reservation was initially called in, we had requested the private room in the back(there’s a $ 500 minimum if you want that room, by the way) and called multiple times to confirm that we would have that room. When we showed up Saturday night, they had put us at a table in the main dining area. We had to wait while they cleared out equipment from the private room. The hostess/manager? was nice about it, but I don’t think there was an apology. Since we had a large party, we decided to try a lot of small plates as appetizers… — Slow roasted bone marrow — Delicious. Wish there was more! — Animal of the day tacos(in this case, it was smoked salmon? Or a fish of some sort) — Did not like. The smokiness didn’t go with the corn tortillas, I thought. — Curry remoulade bang bang shrimp — Don’t remember getting a curry taste… but the shrimp was good. — Grilled pork belly — Good, but I’ve had better pork belly. For my entrée, I got the Grilled akaushi flat iron. Steak was really good and tender and cooked the way I ordered it. The smoked potato and bone marrow mash was okay… didn’t really taste any bone marrow in it. Creamed farmhouse greens(pretty sure it was just creamed spinach) were okay. Nothing special. We were never offered a dessert menu, but later found out a Tallgrass staffer told us to go to STG for gelato rather than get dessert there. I’m guessing dessert isn’t the greatest at Tallgrass… Service was good overall(except for not initially giving us the room we requested). TL;DR: Awesome ambiance/décor and decent service. Overall, food was overpriced, but not super amazing.

My husband and I went to Tallgrass over the weekend to celebrate his birthday. We were so excited to try this restaurant as we’ve been hearing hype about it for quite some time. We are not locals, and as soon as he decided he wanted to go to Tulsa for his birthday dinner, Tallgrass was my immediate(okay, maybe 1.5 seconds) choice. First of all, the restaurant itself is very elegantly done. Barn doors and cool lighting. And our service was very good. We never had to wait for our server to come by to check on us; he was cordial and timely. However, our food was hit and miss. I don’t know what happened — maybe we just ordered wrong — but here is what we had: COCKTAILS: My husband ordered the Prairie Mule, which is their take on a Moscow Mule. Made with their own ginger beer — always a nice touch. He said it was very good. I opted for the Pink Buffalo, which had vodka, crème de violette, Campari, lemon and sparkling wine. It was super good! A bit tart but kind of sweet — a very refreshing drink. APPETIZERS: Anytime we see a bone marrow dish on a menu, we opt to try it. This one was served with pesto, orange marmalade and grilled rye. All that sounds good. It was supposed to take 22 minutes to cook — says it right there on the menu as well as reiterated by our server — but for whatever reason(magic? voodoo?), we got it in less than 10 minutes with no explanation. This seems like a petty thing to complain about, but we know it doesn’t take just 10 minutes to cook — so was it pre-cooked? Did someone order one and then change their mind? It was just weird. Not only that, but our bread was charred to the point where the bitterness of it masked any beef flavor that the dish is supposed to have. All you could taste was bitter and burnt. Plus, for $ 18 we expected to at least get two bones. But we just got one. Sadly, this item was not worth it. Second appetizer was the Sweet Onion Pie with balsamic. My vision of this dish was much more grandiose than reality. The pie crust was nice and flaky, but the«crisp apples» listed on the menu description were actually virtually dehydrated apples garnished on top. Flavor was okay. Also, menu price said it was $ 9 but we were charged $ 13 for it. ENTREES: Hubby chose the Spicy Hot Fried Chicken, which was an airline chicken breast served with a red curry gravy on the side, slaw and potatoes. He said the chicken was cooked perfectly, and the fact the sauce was on the side was much appreciated. Potatoes were inconsistent, however — some were golden and crispy, others weren’t done all the way. I chose the Zucchini Tian, and this was HEAVENLY. Of course, it’s hard to not like something covered in cheese, but this had such a good flavor and texture. It was indulgent comfort food, and I’d order this again and again. My potatoes were also inconsistently cooked, though. DESSERT: I picked the Strawberry White Chocolate Bread Pudding with Basil Ice Cream. This was verrrrry good. Warm and oozy and the ice cream had such a nice flavor. Portion was very big — enough to split. Which was a good thing because my husband’s Flourless Chocolate Cake wasn’t that great. The chocolate part was fine, but the cream stuff on the inside tasted just like butter. Not buttery, but actual butter. It was thick and coated your tongue and just wasn’t what you’d want in a dessert. Overall, we aren’t upset we went to the restaurant. We wanted to try it and now we did. There were some great points and I’m sure the other offerings on the menu would’ve been wonderful. Lamb meatballs, a meatloaf, duck jambalaya. One day we will come back and try again. Like I said, the service was fantastic, and the drink menu was very unique and creative. I look forward to giving it another shot.

I came in for lunch today and got the short brisket burger. The presentation is very pretty — the burger comes out on a wooden cutting board with the the veggies and condiments on the side. You can top and stack the burger anyway you like. Also, there is a nice generous portion of fries. It looks great!!! My first reaction when the burger came out was OOOOPRETTY. The burger itself is pretty good, but nothing out of the ordinary amazing. First, the burger was too sweet for me. The combination of the mustard(honey mustard, I think? Not too sure what that was to be honest), caramelized onions, and the house ketchup was a tad too sugary for my taste. I also was not a fan of the house ketchup(they have regular ketchup too if you want). The bun was also a little too dense for me. But otherwise, the burger was tasty. The actual patty was very delicious. It was very flavorful, perfectly medium rare, and a good size. The fries were also crispy, had the perfect thickness, and properly seasoned. My favorite thing about the burger is the bacon($ 2 for 2 strips). It is thick cut and is not super crisp like bacon at many burger places. Absolutely delicious and well worth the extra $ 2. I wonder if they have a BLT here. I’d totally get that if they did! The restaurant is very cute and modern. The servers are friendly and attentive, but I do think the food takes too long to come out. There were probably no more than 5 tables taken while I was there, but it still took about 25 – 30 minutes for my food to arrive. If you are in a hurry for lunch, I do not advise coming here!

Really great atmosphere, amazing cocktails, friendly and attentive service, and good food. I almost gave it 5 stars but the food could have been a tad bit better. My husband and I went with another couple on Friday night. We did make reservations for 6:30-good thing because at first it wasn’t so crowded but then got pretty busy. Our waitress Erin was really friendly and helpful. The cocktails were fun and different, really good. I had the french martini-grey goose vodka, lillet blanc and flamed orange zest. Loved it. My husband had the salt lick-organic prairie vodka, olive juice, bleu cheese tincture!(he loved that!) and bleu cheese stuffed olives. My friend had the old fashioned, her husband had the white manhattan-high west oat whiskey, dry vermouth, simple syrup and oak chip. We were all impressed. Appetizers-we had the slow roasted bone marrow-it is seriously good. I know it may sound unappealing but it is like butter and very tasty. Have had this before here. We had another appetizer, it was a special-tacos, really good! For dinner my friend and I had the halibut-good flavor but the squid ink pasta was lackluster and my friend was disappointed that the artichoke was not tender. My husband had the short brisket burger and my friend’s husband had the meatloaf. Overall, our food was really good. We will definitely come back, had a great experience.

I don’t even know where to begin with singing Tallgrass Prairie’s praise. I could start with the ambiance and overall décor, which is rustic chic. Or I could wax on about the attentive yet not overbearing service. And then there’s the food, that glorious food. Husband and I ordered three small plates to split: Smoked Rabbit Tacos, Curried Butternut Squash Tamale with Mole(Lord, I love me some mole!), and the Belly & Scallop. Let me just help you out now and tell you to order TWO plates of the Rabbit Tacos because they are just that mouthwatering good. And when you think, «I’m not that big a fan of curry.» like my husband did, push such heinous thoughts aside and dig in to your tamale anyway. Then question how you ever disliked curry to begin with. And that scallop? Slather the carrot purée all over it then wish there were six more on your plate instead of the one you just demolished. We may have been full but dessert is essential in my book. Why yes, you had me at Russian Honey Cake with Lavender Cream. Mmmmm, honey. Ten seconds later, halfway gone. One minute later, devoured entirely. The next morning? Dealing with a «food hangover» but in the best way possible.
