Really cool English Pub. Owner lives upstairs and came from Liverpool. Family works there, everyone was very friendly. Other customers seemed friendly too. The fish and chips were really good as advertised by others on Unilocal.Beer was good too, nice selection. Full bar as well. Not much in the way of parking, and looks more like a private club from the outside.

Quaint awesome British pub in Tulsa! Feels as authentic as can be for not being in the UK. Great food, pints. Try a steak and kidney pie! Ploughman’s lunch! Great appetizers. Banger’s and mash, British mustard… you’ll find it all here. And take a picture with the Queen of England while you’re here, too.

I travel for work and often use Unilocal to find a local gem. A pub hidden in the suburbs of Tulsa with great reviews was too tempting to avoid. Steak and kidney pie with Smithwicks for $ 20. And ridiculously good. Just passing through town, but likely going there tomorrow too. Great place.

Despite what a crappy hack writer said about this Tulsa gem, if you want authentic English food(INOFALLPLACES T U L S A!) walk in THEWHITELION and and enjoy what Betty and Peter have for your pleasure! I love England! And yes, I love English food… so I am biased. If the closest you have gotten to London is Tulsa, you won’t know the difference. The closest this writer has gotten to London is Bugtussle, Oklahoma. Spend a glorious night of great food and wonderful hospitality and you have THEWHITELION with BETTYANDPETER! A++++++

This is the most authentic English pub i have set foot in outside of England. The fish and chips and mushy peas were the best i have ever had. And who doesn’t love strawberry rhubard pie in a bowl of warm cream. The owners and i talked football(that’s soccer to locals) and the owner showed me around and talked about his collection of Liverpool items. In short, great traditional English fare and the friendliest people you will meet. It is a must stop if you are in Tulsa.

Ate dinner here with friends a couple weeks ago. Great selection of English food. Had the fish and chips and it was easily some of the best food I’ve had in the Tulsa area. White Lion is highly recommended.

I’ve been to Scotland, but not London. So I do not speak with experience. But I would hope that experience would be as pleasant as White Lion is. You really do feel like you’re in someone’s home rather than a bar, or pub. They may have a TV tuned into sports, but I didn’t see one in our room. Very nice place to chat with dinner companions. Good choices on menu. We split appetizer of sausage rolls. She ordered the Devonshire, and I stuck with fish and chips. Service was great, and we enjoyed the dinner. As you might guess from above, I don’t seek out British food. But I would probably return here, and feel bloody good about the decision. Parking, though, makes you nervous. Neighbors openly warn White Lion customers with signs.

Step quite literally from Tulsa into a English Pub when you come in. Order a pint of Brown Bitter. Fish and chips are authentic and delicious. Splurge on dessert with a selection of pies made daily. Today we had the strawberry rubarb with cream. Know that the cream is literally cream, unwhipped poured over your pie. So yummo. Worth the price for home cooking!

When I walked into White Lion I felt immediately transported to a quaint pub just across the pond in London. Everything about this place(except the music) reflects the coziness and warmth of a London pub. They have a great beer selection on tap and our waitress provided great recommendations. The food carries through the pub vibe with things like sausage rolls and baked brie. I loved the baked brie which was wrapped in phyllo dough and served with crackers. The seating is so unbelievably inviting. I was there with some coworkers a client and we were seated in a small room with all sorts of different cozy high back chairs. The environment turned a potentially formal meeting into a casual and much more comfortable gathering. White Lion is a gem of a place and I totally plan to be back.

Regarding post from Tess M. I’m sure, you have never ate a meal there. They have a super great staff and to die for food. When writing a review, one must eat the food! People that just show up at places and order a water or soft drink. Have no right to a review. This place is a wonderful English Pub. They have Dinner specials too. I had the Crab Cakes. Yummy. They were great. One must try their house beer(Brown Bitter). It’s a dark smooth beer. We loved it. This is a Outstanding Establishment!

Staff is nice. Much like a family feel. My previous review got deleted for one reason or another. So no truth must be spoken. Good Luck!

A cardboard cut out of the Queen greets you at the door. What more could you want? Interesting décor, a fun staff, and authentic English food are what make this place a Tulsa treat. I had crab cakes and veggies that were so tasty! My husband had cottage pie that looked divine. Of course we then had to try dessert– chocolate mousse pie was delightful. It was rather warm in the restarant and we were seated right in the entry way, which was distracting, but other than that this place is top notch!

I spent a summer in London on a working holiday, and I have to say this place is just about as authentic as you’d ever see state-side! The gentleman who owns the place was our server, and nice as can be. We were there for an early-ish dinner on a Wednesday and the place was about empty so we had almost his full attention. He was very personable and told some great stories. Ordered a round of beers while we looked through the menu. Just about anything you could ask for as far as British food: fish & chips(obviously), a couple types of pasties/meat pies, etc etc. I had the Cornwall, which was a pasty with beef, onions, carrots and gravy, served with peas and chips(of the«fries» variety). PERFECT! Paired it with a Fuller’s ESB and I was back in the UK! At the end of our meal, the owner came by and offered a piece of chocolate cake on the house. This was the most gorgeous, moist and fudgey(without being heavy) cake I’ve had in a long time. Served warm and covered with fudge and whipped cream, it was a great end to the meal. 100% will go back next time I’m in Tulsa!

Amazing, amazing place. I’m originally from Newmarket, England military brat. Being states side I miss authentic English food and this place is legit down to the size of the place lmao. Celebrated my dad’s 64th birthday today with an authentic British dinner. And of course the staff was amazing and made us feel at home. Can’t wait to come back and meet the owner.

I’ve been going here for years. Had my first alcoholic drink there, in fact. The atmosphere is as English as you’ll get on this side of the pond. The food and drink menus aren’t prolific, but each selection is bound to be a good one. I’ve always been pleased with what I get, and the same goes for my picky-eater best friend. Fish and chips? Cottage Pie? Burger? Whatever you like. It’s a cozy and calm respite from the normal commercial food you’ll find spread throughout Tulsa. The owner, her son, and those that work with them are all delightful and do their best to make your evening a good one. I’ve never been rushed out like at so many other high-turnover places. I love the White Lion.

After you have had a piece of any of The many pies Betty makes any other pie will never ever even come close!!! Will go back every week. I’m thankful they aren’t open for lunch because pie would be all I would eat all the time.

Run by Peter and his aunt the White Lion seems totally out of place in sprawling Tulsa, and that makes it all the more special. Very cozy and inviting and all things British. No microbrews, no cheeseburgers; only traditional pub fare. The owners are super friendly and enjoy a conversation when it’s a bit more quiet at the end if the night.

As a Liverpool England boy, transplanted to this wonderful country I was taken to the White Lion Public House not really expecting much. Boy was I wrong. I can tell you this was as authentic as an English Pub should be. Even the outside had a tree growing through the roof. Betty the charming owner, welcomes you personally in her inimitable English style. Have the Fuller ESB brown split beer, which is a mix pint of an Amber and Brown ale. Delicious. The food is tasty traditional pub style and cooked beautifully. The cozy rooms and interesting artifacts, are genuine. Trust me. Betty and her family live above the pub, again very traditional English Pub. You feel as though Betty has welcomed you into her home. If you think you’re a football fan, and I mean the real football, be prepared as Betty is a rabid Liverpool FC supporter, and during our meal I got into some trash taking with an Arsenal fan. It’s was fun and teasing so Betty cued up our famous You’ll Never Walk Alone song which we all sang, much to his disdain. This is more than a pint of beer and steak and kidney pie. It’s an experience I highly recommend. Could not fault it, but I am a Liverpool boy after all. YNWA Betty.

So far, this is my favorite restaurant in Tulsa. I found this place on Unilocal because I was hankering fish and chips. Who knew Unilocal had a category for that? Anyway, the place wasn’t too far and the reviews were all good, so I went. First, the people are wonderful. Peter met me at the door and showed me to my seat and then Kelly took my order. Betty(the owner) was there too, and she’s absolutely charming. I think they said the bartender’s name was Bruce but I wasn’t quite sure. I was having iced tea so I didn’t get to interact with him at all. The room is cozy and well-appointed(meaning they have a lot of junk all over the place). It gives you something to look at. The menu is small but everything looked good. I only had one goal, however, so I stuck to my plan. The fish and chips comes with something called mushy peas. Whatever. How bad could they be? I ordered an iced tea and waited. The wait was not long and I tried the mushy peas. First, I should clarify that I do have a bit of a sweet tooth. Mushy peas are unique. They are peas that are allowed to dry out on the vine and then are harvested. They soak overnight before being cooked and they come out like green mush. But they have a sweetness to them that makes them really delicious. I could have eaten a plate of nothing but these peas and been just as happy. The fish was delicious; flaky, golden and crunchy. They have the malt vinegar on the table for the die-hards but for those of us who can’t get away from being American, they also serve tartar sauce. Kelly made sure I had enough of that(bless her heart). After dinner I had a little tour of the restaurant and found that there are several rooms, all small and equally charming. The Winston Churchill room is where I’d like to be next time. I loved the way it was set up but all the rooms are adorable. Like I said, this is my new favorite restaurant in Tulsa so if you go, look for me. It won’t be long before I go back again.
