Food is OK, However we just didn’t like the radio advertisement for Greenley’s BBQ At the end of the spot it says to it’s loyal customers… «And remember… PORKYOU!» Wow, who’s brilliant idea was that? It’s sounds like Greenley’s is saying to us,(You and me) F-You right after you slap down your hard worked for dollars at their establishment. I’m no prude, believe me, but it just seems inappropriate, sophomoric, and it’s just plain stupid! I think we’ll just drive by and go somewhere else. Just my humble opinion.

i’d give this a 2 and a half. i gotta say, i saw a lot of potential, i just must have gone on an off day. i like to try a place a couple times before i review, but i’m almost never in this area so it’ll be a while before i go back. i got ribs and a brisket sandwich. the tenderness of the ribs was perfect, bones pulled off easily but the meat wasn’t falling off the bone. i really liked the sauce on these, not overly sweet and it had a little kick. if this was bottled and sold in stores i would buy it every so often. now here’s where they lose points. the membrane on the bottom of the ribs was totally black, i guess the fire got the better of the pitmaster, it left a real bad taste on the meat. i pulled as much of the membrane off but it didn’t really help. as for the brisket, i didn’t think it was any good. i mean, it was edible, but i was expecting a lot better from the stuff i’ve heard about this place. it was shaved super thin and pulled apart real easy and covered in sauce, it seemed like they were just trying to salvage old meat. i got a side of mac n cheese too, and while it was creamy and had a good texture it really didn’t have any flavor to it, you could taste the noodles more than the cheese. other observations… there’s a lot of different info online about this place, it actually took me a little while to find. one of the phone numbers that came up on google was actually for the chamber of commerce, which was closed so they couldn’t help me find the place. i went to a couple stores in town(it is a pretty cute little town, a nice place to spend an afternoon) and one of them was able to tell me where to go. this place is on route 6, a little east of the downtown area. this place really doesn’t have much of an online presence. they have a facebook but it’s set up as a personal page and not a business, so you have to add them as a friend and there’s really not much info on there. overall i would definitely try this place again to see how it compares to my first visit. i wish they had more options for sides though and a combo platter would also be a nice addition to the menu, but i can understand them not having those since it’s just a take out place.

School bus BBQ rocks! It’s the best BBQ in the area. This quaint establishment is run out of an old school bus graffitied and stickered for many years but that’s part of its charm. From its gruff exterior they serve bad ass BBQ. The sandwiches are basic but fantastic and filling. However you definitely do not want to miss the ribs. They may seem pricey coming from a school bus but you can tell they are well spiced and smoked. These are not wussy braised in an oven with gallons of sauce, these ribs are smoky with a good bark. Service is friendly and helpful. You might want to bring your own wet naps. Bottom line: it’s well worth the drive both for the food and the experience.

Justin… SSSSHHH! We don’t want everyone to know about this joint. And you didn’t even mention the stuffed bacon-wrapped jalapenos. Say hello to Dick Lochen when you’re there if you’re a fellow fireman.

Best BBQ in the area, kind of an awkward location in a school bus, hours are over lunch to early dinner until they run out of food. But all that aside the pulled pork and beef brisket is heavenly.

The food here is excellent! It is served out of an old school bus but who cares! I have been to most states and more countries than states and I have never had better briskit in my life! Eat here soon!

This is off the beaten path, across the river, and over the hills, but Holy #@*! this is good barbecue. My brother-in-law drives past this place due to his job and took me here last weekend. This food stand is owned by a husband and wife and has been smoking up unbelievable pork, chicken, and brisket for over 10 years. I had the brisket sandwich with the jubilee sauce. The sauce was a mix of cream cheese, jalapeño, sausage, and some other secret ingredients, I could have eaten the sauce on its own. The brisket was hand sliced and smoked perfectly, not too much smoke and still super moist. When i travel to different parts of the country I always try to find local barbecue joints to try, I have a smoker of my own and I always trying to get better. After visiting Ma Greenley’s I’m going to change a few things I do and I’m not going to tell. If your in PA just outside of Scranton, get a map, use your GPS, Find this place and make sure you get there early. They start smoking the food at 4am and start serving food at 11am and when the run out they are out! They are only serving the freshest food and only make a limited amount everyday.
