Scott A Smith DDS

We liked MD smith — at first. The cost/​estimates for their services are quite high. Luckily my insurance changed and MD Scott is out of network and I had to seek out an alternative periodontist and found Roy Morita in Modesto. My husband just had the surgery MD Scott estimated for $ 10,200 bucks (insurance would only cover 2k so it would have been 8,200 out of pocket) and required scapel and gum «flapping» for deep cleaning.
MD Morita cost $ 6,400 for the same surgery performed with lasers and insurance covered all but $ 1,500. Healing has been quick and basically pain free. MD Morita used to do scapel gum surgeries and said my husband would not have tolerated the surgery much less the healing pain of a gum flap. MD Smith is a good MD and his staff was extremely friendly and capable — but the techniques are not updated and the costs are really high.

Dr. Smith has a wonderful demeanor, and a great desire to help. His staff in the both the Turlock and Merced offices are interested in taking the extra step for their patients. The offices are beautiful, and very comfortable. I would highly recommend Dr. Smith and his staff for any periodontal needs.
