Sadly it appears that they have gone out of business. For rent signs and CLOSED signs on every door.

Update: 2 years later I call Souza for a refill, the gal tells me they’ll be out the following day and the driver would call in advance before arrival. The following day I call in around 10am just to verify we were still on schedule, told them we were completely out of propane. Gal from Souza said she didn’t know when the driver would be there but that we’d receive a call. 4:40PM she calls to tell us their(only?) truck broke down and they wouldn’t be out to fill the tank. I ask for a partial fill or something to get us through the night, it’s December cold and I have no heat, hot water, stove, etc. she puts me on hold and Sam the«manager» answers. No apology, no offer to make things right, no acknowledgement that Souza broke their commitment to me– but what Sam *did* give me was a lecture on how negligent I was for waiting until my tank was empty to call them.(The circumstances why my tank is empty are completely irrelevant.) He then went on to tell me that I had placed an unreasonable demand that they were to fill my tank in 24 hours. Wrong Sam– I simply called and asked SOUZA when you would be able to fill my tank, and the next day is what SOUZA told me. That was agreeable so I paid with my credit card and then you wait until 20 minutes before all other propane companies close to call and tell me you won’t be out. Sam went on to lecture me that when Souza schedules someone it’s not really a firm schedule, that they aim for a 3 – 10 day window. Not an issue for me if this is disclosed when I ordered, but it wasn’t. Oh, and Sam also said that they had been having mechanical problems with the truck all day, but they didn’t bother to tell me this when I called in at 10AM that day. It’s clear from the other reviews on here, Souza fails to deliver on their promises, don’t acknowledge shortcomings, and worse yet shift the blame to the customer. Mistakes happen, I get it– but it’s how we handle them that determines the level of customer service, Sam you failed this one.

i closed my account in January 2015 because my tank was almost empty and they couldn’t get propane out to me for 3 weeks. I had tenants in the property so I didn’t know they never came to get the tank — by September it was still there 9 months later! I called and asked them to come and take it and to this date(November) it’s still there. They won’t come and get the empty tank and it’s in the way of the driveway. i will never do business with them again.

They are headed for bankruptcy, it sounds like, so another bad review is probably pointless. But our story is similar to others: we called a month ago because the tank was getting low, and they said they’d be out in 3 weeks. At the end of the 3 weeks, it was another 10 days. This morning, when we weren’t sure we had enough gas to turn the furnace on, they said they might be able to come tomorrow, but couldn’t promise. The problem is Souza cannot deliver gas or service their customers. One call to Van Unen Miersma Propane and they were able to exchange Souza’s tank with one full of gas within 4 hours of calling.

Unfortunately Souza has been nothing but a pain in the butt for us! Our business has used them for about 7 years, and I’ve used them at my residence for 5 ½ years, we are supposed to be on routine delivery… Every fall/winter they always let us run out! We always ended up calling and complaining, yet they never seemed to acknowledge our concerns. Last time they filled us up was late November(we had to call them and let them know we were empty, of course) and we told them not to let us run out again, well it happened again. They couldn’t even deliver to us 1 time a month. Last week we were down to 15% and called to let them know, they said they didn’t know when they could get to us because they are out of propane. Ok if you are a propane company and you can’t deliver propane to us when we need it, then we have no more use for you.

Well… we have used Souza Propane for the past 25 years and the last few years I can say the experience has not been good. Saturday, we had 40 people at or house for a family xmas party. WOW — the house smelt like gas so bad, we had every window open. It wasn’t until Sunday morning that we realized the reason the house smelt is because our propane tank was empty. We are on automatic refill, but this is now the second time we have been told, they did not deliver, because they had no propane to deliver ! This happened to us last year too. Should of known and switched providers then. It is now Monday morning, they have not called back, my house is freezing and we have no propane. Souza Propane will not be in business much longer — I don’t recommend anyone signing up for their service ! I have 4 other companies I will be calling this morning

Always happy with their service, and the price is great for the propane!

My family has used Souza for over a decade. Recently we purchased one of my parents’ rentals and needed to switch the existing Souza service from my parents’ name to my own. When the tank got down to 5% this past week, I called in to ask about filling the tank and switching the account to our name. I was told that we needed to open a new account and that an inspection would need to be done on the existing Souza tank and that would take a few days. Then a few days after the inspection we could get the tank filled. Someone would call me later in the day to set up the inspection. That was Wednesday. Thursday, I called back since no one called on Wednesday. I was hoping we could set up the inspection for Friday so that sometime the following week we could get the tank filled. The scheduling lady was out to lunch but she’d call me when she got in. At the end of business hours on Thursday I put out a request on Facebook about local competitors and was told to check out Kamps. Friday, I waited until 1:45 for a call from Souza then decided to call up Kamps just to see how much hassle it would be to change service even though I had no intention of doing so. Cheaper lease on the tank, cheaper introductory rate on the first fill, cheaper regular rate on propane. They’d send a guy out to inspect, remove the old tank, install their tank, and fill it, all on the same day and it would only take an hour. I went in and filled out the paperwork and they said a guy would be out on Monday. I was also able to get the friend who referred them a discount on their bill. Souza did not call back on Friday. Souza will be getting a call from me on Monday letting them know that they can pick up their tank whenever it’s convenient for them. During our time with Souza I found them to be pleasant over the phone but not very helpful. If the tank ran low and I called in for a fill, they’d tell me that it could be weeks before anyone could get out to us even though we’re 10 miles away and that they’d only come out sooner if we paid a rush charge. I always declined and they always showed up within a few days, so clearly they were just trying to upcharge me. Going in to get canisters filled usually results in the same, «When we get around to it,» mentality.
