Presentation was not up to par –uncomfortably small plates with alfalfa sprouts spilling all over the table. Waitress was very sweet is the best thing I can say about this meal.

Beers on tap, great charcuterie, friendly and helpful staff, outdoor and indoor seating, what’s not to like!

Tasteless Cold Brew. Stopped here for an iced coffee yesterday and was excited to see they had cold brew on the menu. Unfortunately it was not very good. Lacked the depth and richness I love about cold brew. :(

I have eaten here twice now and can’t shake the impression that it’s just not very good. The portions are on the small side. That’s not a bad thing except that the price is fairly high for the size and the quality is not consistent. For example the small salad that comes with some of the entrées is painfully salty. The duck fat fries were clearly reheated and not freshly fried-they were warm on one side and stone cold on the other. They were also dusted with far too much salt. I know people’s tolerance for salt varies but if my lips sting from salt while eating your food it’s too much. My fish sandwich was about 5 inches tall but 4 inches of that was the bun. The remaining inch was split between about a quarter inch of fish and the toppings. There is a small but adventurous beer and cider list so I would stick to that and perhaps the cheeses. You will probably have a decent meal if you stay away from the stuff they make themselves.

What a gem! Happened upon this place while traveling through Western MA and by the end of my meal I was seriously considering moving to Turner’s Falls. This spot has a super cute vibe and things were lively, but not overwhelming — I am positive that if this place was transported to Boston it would be MOBBED. The staff was friendly and enthusiastically shared info on how the ingredients were locally sourced, and recommended some vintage shops in the area. My companion was impressed with the beer list and I was super impressed with the spicy house made chai. We shared a beautiful cheese plate and a freaking amazing waffle with homemade whipped cream and preserves. If I lived closer I would probably be here every day!

Quick stop after visiting a local nano-brewery. Heard that they had more beer on draft from this same brewery — it was true. Very creative menu, changing often. Comfortable space, heavy on the hipster. Coffee is what really hooked me though. Hand pumped espresso — pulled with perfection. One of the best coffees I have had, maybe ever. Farm procured whenever possible. List of the farms they use listed proudly on a board behind the bar. Nice touch.

What a great little place. Our party had the meatball sandwich and 2 brisket sandwiches, one of which was«deconstructed» for our gluten-free person. Food was fresh and delicious. Menu was small, thoughtful, and seasonal, using lots of local suppliers. Waitstaff was super friendly, smart and attentive. Chill, homey atmosphere. Quiet enough for conversation but had a good music selection that was interesting without being too opinionated. This is my new favorite place to take visitors to show them what a great place western Mass is! After lunch, go down the street to the Great Falls Discovery Center for an interesting, free experience of local ecology and to see the water rushing through the canal.

This town always needed a place like this, and now they have it: A friendly café/bar that runs morning into night. Order at the bar, then stay inside, or take it outside– doesn’t matter– there’s porch seating. Drinks are quick, but know it will take a little while for your food. There’s free wifi and it’s cozy, so bring your laptop and chill out; or come with friends! In the end, the food & drink are very good, so it all comes together well/is worth your dollar. The atmosphere is the cherry on top and is hard to describe, so just go and check it out! This Turners Falls local recommends!

More new options on the menu– get them and don’t share. Highlights; the exceptional and nostalgic Toaster Strud– uhh, jam-filled oven-warmed pastry with rosewater icing, chicken confit and waffle, and damned near perfect clafoutis. Looking forward to the introduction of their liquor license and the duck fat fries.

I came here awhile back with my mother who took a look at the menu and decided she wanted something a little less trendy. The too-cool-for-school bartender laughed, «We scared them off!» within earshot of us as we were left. Dude, please. Finally went for the first time recently. Really weird service. Although multiple people who seemed to be staff kept coming and going from the back of the house, the bartender(different guy) appeared to be pulling double duty as the sole waiter and didn’t seem to be taking either role very seriously. After serving us our drinks, he spent the rest of our meal engrossed in conversation with a young woman at the bar. I flagged down our check from one of the aforementioned staff. The brisket sandwich($ 12) was okay but not great. The meat was chewy, the brioche bun over-toasted. I like the idea of using cream cheese as a condiment, but I feel like it shouldn’t be cold and firm. The salad it came with was just a handful of supermarket mixed greens tossed with a weak vinaigrette. If you’re a Williamsburger coming to the Valley to «get away from it all» or whatever, this is definitely will be a taste of home. But know that you can get much better locavore food in this area, for better prices, with better service.

I am going to be the lone wolf here with this review. I had high hopes coming here for a meal on our way through the area based on the Unilocal reviews. My chicken tortilla soup was lukewarm and was close to inedible.(FYI chicken tortilla soup is one of m favorite soups) The Kale Caesar was giant size and decent but not memorable. My husband’s brisket sandwich was ok. I ordered the panna cotta for dessert as I was starving after the meal which was overall mediocre. Not cheap and slow service; wish we had gone elsewhere. Overall a disappointing experience.

This place is wonderful. They don’t do everything, but what they do they do with attention, ambition and refinement. I’m so glad this place exists, and I hope the people of the Upper Valley know what they’ve got.

Stylistically reminiscent of simpler times while remaining in-the-moment vogue by way of «country bumpkin diner waitress meets Brooklyn freelance videographer hipster» — they fall in love and make a baby that happens to be a fox with five eyes(probably radiation poisoning or Monsanto). Call me pro life, but no matter the 21st centurial post-apocalyptic cause of conception, I can’t not love this beautiful little spot. You’re not in Williamsburg — you’re in Western MA, and you have chosen wisely. Attention to aesthetic is supreme. Attention to cheese board is dopeman dopeman dopeman cheese board. Attention to bone marrow in meatball is attentive. Chicken noodle soup was kinda wuteva. Recommend dipping meatball samich in chicken nooble soob. Coffee was MONEY like in the way cool people mean good, not expensive. Oh, and it was all kind of expensive. Money isn’t important. Correct spelling isn’t a thing. Go hear meow fox.

«It’s bar casual.» Order at the bar, order from your seat — doesn’t matter. Beer list is short, simple, and delicious. Best charcuterie board around.(light on the cheese, but I’d say that for every board everywhere) Locally-sourced food is spectacular, right down to the ever-changing whipped cream flavor. When we went, it was Earl Grey. Prices are right. Hip and casual — bring a date.

This little out of the way place is a destination. If you go on the weekend you can get their biscuits and gravy, which are among the best that I have ever had. The atmosphere is pretty casual. You order at the counter and then find a place to sit. They have a nice little wooden patio. People often stop by with their dogs and sit on the patio. They also have a great cheese selection. Whether you want drinks, coffee, snacks, or a meal, this is the place you are looking for. Highly recommended.

Okay, I am going to say just this: The espresso is everything I want it to be. Here’s the thing. I know I want to visit Five Eyed Fox and I think maybe they serve espresso. It’s easy to find brewed coffee at 2nd Street Bakery, but is it possible to get espresso anywhere? You know the deal: You walk into a place thinking, «If I order an espresso, what am I going to get? A burst of hot charred liquid with a thin layer of beige bubbles that the server thinks is crema? Or worse yet, 60 grams of watery coffee after a 60 second pour … because you want your paper cup to be full, right? Thankfully, Five Eyed Fox delivers here. Saying nothing more than that I wanted an espresso, I silently watched with eagle eyes as the guy set up a good double, with a 5 s infusion and about a 25 s pour. Boom. Shot 1 + shot 2 go into a ceramic demitasse and it’s handed over with no fuss, as if this is the most ordinary thing in the world. I wish it were ordinary, but you know that it is not, except in places where someone has taken the time to educate and train staff about grind and technique. I’m glad the management of Five Eyed Fox has taken that time. This might seem like a little thing, to be able to serve coffee this way, but it is not. I haven’t sampled the food yet, so think of this as an incomplete review. In this one arena Five Eyed Fox is a winner in my book. I would not be surprised to find equal attention to detail in preparation of the rest of their offerings.

Not a bad little place. It strives for that Brooklynesque feel and almost achieves it, except that it is always dead in there. Maybe the town is just too small to support two bars that cater to the exact same demographic; I don’t know. However, they do have a nice selection of beer and they did splurge on an amazing espresso machine. People are pleased with the edibles and the window seats are cozy. I certainly do not avoid the place. And I do recommend it to out-of-towners.

Turners Falls has seen a lot of ups and downs over the years. It was a booming mill town in the 1800’s. From the 70’s to the early 00’s it was a drug ridden reminder of american industry. The Five Eyed Fox may be a sign that life is coming back to this old New England mill town. Drawing from the arts community and the crowd that frequent the Rendevous, the Fox aims to please by offering carefully selected and prepared meals for any hour that you may walk(or stumble in). During the daytime, the Fox is both a café and gastro-pub: offering fresh coffee, craft beer, and an exquisite array of sandwiches, snacks, and treats. I visited the Fox at lunch time and although it wasn’t packed, there were still enough people around to not feel empty. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. My sandwich was delicious but the highlight of my meal was the smoked duck board. I was forewarned that the duck was highly addictive, but it wasn’t until its savory goodness melted in my mouth that I knew why. Best of all, is that for an ingredients-driven local business the prices are fair. Despite all they offer, the Fox isn’t out to drain your wallet. They also don’t seem inclined to brag or wrap themselves in pretense the way many business that bandy the words«craft» do nowadays. Instead what you will find is a business with an atmosphere of cozy sophistication where the food speaks for itself. Now I just need to shake this smoked duck addiction and I will be back.
