Quite small compared to the California casinos. However it was ok. There were a lot of tables but only few tables were actually being played. We went in a group of four. One of us won a lot of money. Yes people smoke and it was quite smelly, but I was able to tolerate it. Drinks are soda in a stylophone cup — and self serve of you don’t want to pay tip. I would probably not go again though. The place needs to be updated. Games need to be updated and the place need a remodel.

WARNING! WARNING! Worst casino ever! !! For starters they have no customer service skills at all. The lady at the front desk check in at the hotel was very unwelcoming, rude, and more than unpleasant. After checking in we went to our room which contained a non functional toilet. I called the front desk, she told me to push really hard, because when they are not used the get rusted, hint number two that this place is a dump. So I did and nothing worked, I called back and the women at the front desk seemed irritated that I was upset that we didn’t have a functional toilet. With no apologies or anything she said come to the front and I’ll give I another room, gee sorry for the imposition, I thought I was paying to stay here. They had no food available to eat throughout the night anywhere! They had one table open and upon my observation the pit boss was nothing but rude to the players. Apparently hospitality is not one of Wisconsin traits. Today I found out they put an additional charge to my room, which was never smoked in, and it was $ 100 on top of the $ 45 for the night. I will be contacting the BBB.

Yikes! This place needs to be updated… Tired only one bathroom, one crazy lunch counter one cash out machine… Aw come on who would go to this place when it looks like this and slots do not pay out? By all means go to the one in Danberry much nicer!!! It costs 3.50 for an ice cream cone why not see it for 1.00, you would get more takers and maybe less ice cream but most just want a taste and that’s it not a huge thing ok I will settle for both

Went one evening when I was bored and had nothing better to do. Missed the parking entrance because the sign is past the entryway, and there’s no light at the corner to show you here’s where it is. No lit sign on the building either, that I could see. Walked in, and upon first glance it looked pretty decent. The player’s club desk is right in front of you, with a wing off to either side with machines. Got a player’s club card, and then did a lap around the casino. Like others have said, the self-serve pop stations are few and far between — pepsi, diet pepsi, mountain dew, and sierra mist were the choices, as are the restrooms which look like they were caught in the 80’s? I thought the ash trays on top of each urinal was a nice touch. Sat down, and a guy started ranting that«they have all these machines off, I’ve been sitting here and not one person anywhere near me has won anything.» I just kinda wrote him off and started playing. I shouldn’t have. The most I won at any given time was $ 2 – 3, on every machine I played. Eventually I found a machine where I actually hit the bonus, and a very drunk dude came and sat down next to me and started breathing on me/just generally acting obnoxious. As soon as the bonus finished I got up and moved. I did notice something else… over the course of the roughly 1.5 hours I was there, I saw multiple machines that were being saved with a jacket on the chair or the chair tilted up against the machine. Some with credits on the machine. No one playing them, and no one even acting semi-interested in them. 2 of the machines like this sat that way, un-touched, for the entire time I was there. As I was getting ready to leave, I was getting a little hungry, and decided to stop at the concession stand for a snack. I stood there at least 60 seconds while the staff stood in the corner, just talking and staring at me, before they decided to come take my order. The food was decent, the fries were awesome. The cheeseburger was pretty good, and came with lettuce and tomato on it, and there was diced onions and a variety of condiments available. There is also Mug Root Beer available at the pop station by the concession stand. All-in-all I wasn’t impressed. There are plenty of other casinos that actually pay-out.

We decided last minute to take a trip to St. Croix Casino Turtle Lake, wish we would have stayed home. We were able to reserve a room same day so we were pretty happy. The hotel itself is in need of some serious renovation. One of the first things that was so bothersome is that the hallways smelled like B.O. yuck! The room is bland and looked to have had little if any maintenance in quite some time. The AC was on full blast and freezing, I realized later that it was that way because that is the only way the AC worked. The beds were hard and uncomfortable, with comforters that have seen better days. The pillows were flat and in need of replacement and the walls were water stained in areas and the wallpaper was peeling. Overall the room was your basic beds and TV with some really crappy carpeting. I sadly have nothing positive to say about the hotel. Also the main areas have mismatched tiles in spots and the carpets have DUCTTAPE for a fix! Seriously duct tape?! When we were leaving the hotel I had to nearly holler to get two employees on their smoke break to move from the doorway so I could get out. Not one employee did a single thing to impress us during our short stay. Truthfully they all seemed pretty darn unhappy to be there, which I guess I would be unhappy too. Casino review: Nothing much to say here either. The casino is also worn and had seen it’s better days. Again, the staff seemed miserable and scarce. Very little smiles or customer service. Let me go on to the food and drinks at the casino… only twice did we see someone coming around for beverages and we were there for 6 hours! We also had a very hard time finding self service beverage stations. I eventually found one near the little food area, which I think was called Prime Rib Grill. Let me tell you about the Prime Rib grill! While prices are decent(my first positive) the food made my husband sick. When we got back to our room he spent nearly 2 hours in the bathroom(using toilet paper that felt like it was made by someone in their garage with a saw and sand paper). And trust me he has a steal stomach and can eat virtually anything without issue but clearly the tatertot hotdish at the Prime Rib Grill has defeated his superior digestion. I guess you get what you pay for. The payouts were up and down for the slots but that is to be expected when gambling. That is not an issue for me. We have fun playing at the casinos and know you win some and lose some. What was a bit frustrating was the lack of open craps tables. They had one open and it was full to the brim at all times. This was a Saturday night people! Open the second one so more people can play, clearly this was a need! Overall we were so disappointed with our stay and will not be coming back unless some major overall happens. Oh and I almost forgot to mention the neglected to be cleaned up Fritos on the floor of our hotel room! Mmmmm… old Fritos.

Very smokey. This was a major downside. Went on a Thursday night. Security guard very nice and helpful. All dealers and pit bosses at the craps table friendly and conversational. Craps dealers still learning at that time but really accurate. 5 $ min. Not very crowded. Free pop. But when asked where the pop station was, we were pointed in a far away direction by a lady who didn’t seem to care. When we arrived, it was not a self serve station she pointed us to. The bathrooms closest to the entrance were very dirty. Lots of new slots.

Nice local casino in the north woods of WI. Has nice interior look of a log cabin. Lots of slots to play and some table games. It’s a good place to get some action in the middle of these small sleepy towns. Beer is usually cheap too. Decent buffet for the price. Also the prime rib sandwiches for $ 5.99 are a great deal!

Comparing this casino to the other ones in the area, and being a slot junkie, I have found that if I am going to lose my shirt playing slots I am going to have a good time doing it. The last time I was in this place, I felt i was gambling in a pull barn. They have added a bit on and the inside is nicer than I remember. The slots are well spaced and NEW! That was the best part. I played several slots that I had seen on YouTube and not in real life including Leonidas, Wicked Winnings IV and my personal favorite, The Godfather. Yes, the drive sucks if you’re coming from the Twin Cities, but it is well worth the extra time if you are looking to play some new and fun slots and not the same old song and dance. Also, let’s not forget that they have live craps and roulette if you’re not into slots. I am not sure what everyone is expecting as this place is about as good as it gets in the Midwest.

I went for the buffet and they smoke in the buffet. I couldn’t have been more disappointed. The fair was barely adequate, but when you throw the smoke in on top… then it’s a total loss.

This place is the WORST. My husband and I came here with a group of friends. We first stopped to get drinks at the bar where the bartender Jody completely ignored our presence until one of our friends(a person she knew) showed up. Her service was SO bad we had to have our friend get our drinks for us or we would never get served. After an hour wait we finally got into the not-busy restaurant(food was mediocre), and then went to gamble. After another hour of watching my friends, a girlfriend and I went to the bar in an attempt to grab drinks. It was empty, yet AGAIN we sat and waited as Jody ignored us. While we waited we struck up a conversation with a couple guys at the bar. One of them was pretty wasted and ended up dumping one beer over the bar and another one on me. No big deal, like I’ve never spilled a beer before, but the most ridiculous thing happened about 20 minutes later. I was pulled aside by a security officer and asked to leave because they felt I was intoxicated. You have GOT to be kidding!!! I was absolutely baffled! I have never, EVER been kicked out of any place in my entire LIFE. Not only that, but the dude spilling beer everywhere continued to be served! After leaving, our friend who is a regular at this dump, said it was a small town and more than likely I was talking to the wrong person… meaning a regular with a jealous girlfriend. Unbelievable. Need less to say I will never step another foot into this pathetic excuse for a casino. Service stinks, the whole place LITERALLY stinks, and if you aren’t an inbred hick there is a good chance they’ll refuse to serve you. Worst experience in my entire life!!!

Ugh. No non-smoking section. Slots are incredibly tight. Sign-up bonus for membership is a cheap $ 5.00. Birthday month reward was a free drink(I don’t drink). However, the very nice woman behind the coffee counter in the gift shop gave me a free mocha for my birthday. That was the last good thing that happened there. $ 300-$ 400 worth of bets took all my money without a single decent(over $ 20.00) payout. I may have hit one or two bonuses that paid measly $ 7-$ 10 payouts after spending ten times that amount to get a single bonus play. People around me were having the same experience. No big wins(only small ones), lots of money bet. My recommendation: Run screaming AWAY from this casino, and if you want to have fun gambling, go somewhere else. Take my advice and read the other reviews, and heed them. I wish I had.

I agree I would give this place a negative number. Can’t tell you how the food was… after a long day of traveling we decided to stop there for dinner. They would NOT let my 10 year old daughter into the buffet. Told us she’s not allowed on the gambling floor. TOTALLY understand. Asked if someone could escort her like LCO in Hayward, or Bad River in Ashland, Black Bear in Cloquet or the Grand Casino in Hinckley. The answer was no. The girl«Michelle» who answered the phone gave me an «Oh well attitude»! Would not spend a dime in this place even if it was just my husband and myself!

Visited my friend this past weekend who lives in balsam lake. Not much to do around these parts in the winter. This is a standard little Indian casino, people smoke everywhere… free coffee and soda/pop, $ 5 prime rib sandwich at the sandwich shop which was not only tasty but light on your wallet after getting fleeced from some tight slot machines! They had some table games on the center of the floor, I found a nice empty blackjack table… it had a $ 25 minimum, I still sat down and managed to win $ 200 so I’m giving this place an extra star for that!

Sad separation Forty bucks down the toilet Why did I come here? I am not a huge gambler. Losing 100 bucks pisses me off far more than winning 100 bucks excites me(or any amount of money for that matter). Casinos in the Midwest are usually pretty depressing places, unless you are winning. Filled with those who have given up on life and those who have had life pass them by. Yes, I am stereotyping. I am also keenly aware of the devastating toll that gambling addiction takes on many. All that being said, I usually manage to find myself at a local casino a couple of times a year. It seems like I have had better luck at Turtle Lake than any of the other nearby Casinos. Unfortunately, it is a further drive for most. I don’t think I’ve ever won much of anything at TI. Mystic is kind of pointless to me. What is the point of going to a casino if you can’t have an adult beverage or seven? Shouldn’t knock Mystic too hard as I did leave up a cool G the last time I was there a couple years ago. Careful with the video poker machines here at Turtle Lake, the max is something like 10 credits not the customary five. My first hand was an expensive one. Lost my forty in no time at all and was out the door. At least the beer was cheap — $ 2.75 for a pint. If I had won a decent amount of money, this would probably be a three star review or more(depending on how much was won).

WORSTBUFFETEVER! I would give it a –4 stars if possible. It was that bad! Only thing I enjoyed was the ice cream. YUCK! As for the casino it’s pretty fun but dirty and stinky! Ewww! I saw a person multiple times that I have officially nicknamed Methy McMetherton. I talked to security and I mentioned she wasn’t looking well. Apparently she’s there all the time and it’s what she does. There are plenty of slots, table games, and poker games.

The hotel was ok. Our door to our room had to pulled shut(really hard) in order for it to close at all. The Casino is dark, smokey and relatively boring. Don’t expect to be greeted warmly by the staff if you’re going there to have fun and enjoy yourself. They are really only used to seniors sitting quietly and minding their own business.

Love this place. If you’re in a hurry they have a paper shredder that you can put your money in at the door and just leave. Buffet is awesome for the price of around $ 7. Shrimp, desserts, Prime Rib… yummy. Live craps… not to be confused with live crabs, definitely a night I would like to forget… The big casinos in Minnesota don’t have it or «reel» slots. Gotta love the fact that they put no effort into the exterior of the building… trashy? :D

Its a casino that isn’t in Vegas. Just like all the other non-Vegas casinos, it smells like an ashtray, you can sit down at most tables and not worry about knocking elbows with a single person. I wouldn’t go all the time, but if its the only Casino around and you have to get your fix of bright lights, loud noises, and money falling from your pocket, go for it here.
