Fashion Camp – Create. Design. Sew.

So, we went back to Fashion Camp. My girls were dreading it. I was a little worried, why put my girls through something they already had a bad experience with. This time though, they had someone in charge of greeting people as they walked in, they acted like they were expecting guests (compared to our 1^st visit). I signed the girls in and left them there. The sewing project the group voted on were fabric purses. The girls had a lot of fun this time, they said the staff was much friendlier than last time and walked away happy with what they made. A much better experience overall and now they’ve even asked to go back again. Thanks for the improvement in Customer Service. It’s good to see businesses make the effort to address customer concerns.

This place and concept are amazing! Finally broke down and signed up my daughter and her friend to go for a full day sewing camp after multiple requests from our little fashionista (She has been hearing about it in school). Anyway, all this stuff is way outside of my own personal skill set as Mr. Dad, but I can honestly say that the place looks really and hip (dare I say it?) and the staff is very professional and they were super excited to welcome the two girls in for their first sewing camp experience. And so I would return some hours later…
…The proof is now in the pudding. The girls were absolutely smitten with their experience and very proud of what they had learned and accomplished. They could not wait to show off their beach tote bags that they had designed and sewn together themselves. They could not stop talking about it all throughout our celebration dinner and our own little fashion camper has still been beaming about it for days and asking when she can go back. Mission Accomplished Fashion Camp! It is refreshing to see such a dynamic concept and well run business as a fun learning resource for our kids. Kudos!

We love fashion camp! My girls have made so many great projects. I don’t know what the other reviewers are talking about because I have never noticed anything but kind people working here! We homeschool and have a blast creating new projects with all of the helpful ladies here. They are so encouraging and let the kids have fun — they don’t baby the kids here which I love. lots of projects to choose from at Fashion Camp and they have the coolest fabrics! Wish we could come more often.

If someone says your customer service is lacking, it is. If someone says that you are racist and biased, you may be. Rather than defend and rebut what they have said, why not take a look within and around and see how you can improve your image? White privilege is real, and calling someone «offensive» for stating their feelings about their experience in your establishment is 100% typical. The customer is ALWAYS right. Please do better, thanks.

I have 3 daughters, ages 8, 8 and 12. They LOVE Fashion Camp! My girls have attended various camps and have also had their birthday parties at fashion camp. Fashion camp has inspired them in so many different ways. They have learned to hand sew as well as use a sewing machine. They have made their own skirts, Pjs, purses and more. It’s so cute to see how proud they are when they wear their own designs! Just a few days ago, my 8 year old (2^nd grader), pulled out a needle and thread and mended a hole in her sweatshirt sleeve! And she did a great job! My 12 year old has plans to have her own fashion business one day. The staff at Fashion Camp provide a safe, warm hearted environment and are happy to help kids learn life long skills!

As a mother of two girls, I’ve spent my fair share of time at both Fashion Camp locations. My daughters have been to drop in classes, one day workshops, and week long camps… they love them all and are always excited to go back!

My daughter loves Fashion Camp. We have been a few times to different locations and she always is eager to go back. The teachers are really attentive and always encourage them to try new techniques and teach them new tricks. My daughter still has to sew on buttons for me because apparently I do it wrong. :) She recently got a dress form like the ones they use at Fashion Camp and designs dresses and outfits just like she was taught there. She is constantly asked when she can do another camp. Great beginning and more advanced educational space where you can make new friends!

If your a person of color or a different ethnicity then Caucasian you shouldn’t even bother coming to this place. Very sad to say that I walked in there today with my overly excited 2 daughters just to stand there staring at the teachers who just were walking around. They didn’t even bother to look at us let alone greet us. My daughters were so confused. I wasn’t because as I looked around I seen nothing but blue eyed blonde hair girls. I’m not stupid and I know we weren’t wanted there. It’s sad we still live in a racist world.

We’ve taken several sessions now with Fashion Camp through the after school classes offered onsite at local elementary schools. It’s not a program designed to build depth of skills or capabilities (so I’m reducing this by one star), but the classes are fun for kids, and they have some cute projects. So, their students walk away with a great sense of accomplishment.
Also, I’ve reduced the rating by two more stars because of the poor customer service experienced by them.

My niece, the budding fashionista — actually, who am I kidding? This girl’s a full-​blown fashionista. Is Vice Magazine still a thing? If it is, she’s straight outta the pages of Vice. In any case, how to entertain an aimless 15-​year-​old for the summer? (Well, for a week of the summer actually.) Fashion Camp.
I know calling these things «Camp,» is the norm. But let’s emphasize the airquotes around «„„Camp““»” — it’s only a few hours a day for a week.
Even so, Kaylah seemed to enjoy it a great deal. They have a younger kids class, but at 15, Kaylah was in the teens class. There were about 14 girls in her class and all were right about her age.
She seemed to learn a few things, a few fashion terms and had some fun with some activities. I know sometimes kids go back for a few sessions, so I’m not sure if some of the other go more in depth. While it’s good to have a general primer for a teen who knows she likes fashion but doesn’t know what that means, I wish some of it was a bit more practical. She didn’t learn anything about any colleges or things to do to prep for art/​fashion school at all.
Over all though, she had a great time. It’s a bit pricey (but I don’t have kids, maybe this is the norm for «camp») but she definitely had a good time and the ladies running the whole thing are super friendly and knowledgeable.
