Olympia Training Center

My son has been training here for 9 years from when he was 7. Here are some of the things that I am wholeheartedly grateful for:
1. Instructions are very easy to follow. I have seen them training children from age 3 and up.
2. They have great patience and wonderful ways to engage and guide their students. They all excel and become great, responsible, and confident children, teenagers and youngsters.
3. Students are taught to be upstanding citizens, both inside the dojo and outside from the first day they are trained. They can lose their belts for serious offenses even outside of dojo, and they have to earn their belts back.
4. They are a humble group. The master of the dojo, Mr. Mike as he preferred to be called by his students, never hesitates to invite world champions to teach and demonstrate new techniques to his students. Students are trained to excel but never brag. Even the training area is somewhat hidden from entrance.
5. Students’ skill level is high. They are true martial artists who win in competitions. Yet, they won’t show their skills unless it is absolutely necessarily. They have amazing self-​control.
6. All the instructors, past and present, are wonderful mentors. A few years ago, I mentioned to Mr. Mike that a bully had been bothering my son. My son, as he had been well taught, had not been reacting to the abuse. Bless his heart, Mr. Mike ended his class a little early that day and talked to the class about how to deal with bullies, what options are appropriate, and how to diffuse the situation.
I feel that Mr. Mike and all of his staff genuinely cares about each and every student that they have. Mr. Mike is always approachable. He always has a smile on his face. The classes are fun with real life scenario practices when they are at higher ranks. They are always learning something new while perfecting the skills that they already have. The higher rank students are welcome to hang out and help teaching the classes. My boy has been a very easy teenager with the right foci, and I have Olympia Martial Arts, or now Olympia Training Center, and everybody in it to thank. :)

This is an awesome training center! They are great working with kids. My ten year old son is really into Parkour after watching American Ninja Warrior. This is the perfect outlet for that. The classes are safe but teach agility and build confidence. I highly recommend them!

Olympia Training Center, as it is now called, is a wonderful place. There is now a new, modified schedule that fits everyones needs. There are yoga classes you can take that are calm, relaxing, and improve you flexibility and core strength. You can take MMA classes if you want to improve your fighting skills. There are plenty of kid’s classes for children to choose from, where they have fun by learning and playing games. Open gym classes let you practice whatever you want to practice, you can use any and all of the equipment. You have so many things to choose from, you can practice exercises on the bars, practice flips on the trampoline, work out, climb ropes, and now you can even learn and practice using silks! Its a really great place for people of all ages, 1 – 113. :) Mr. Mike is great and an awesome guy, Mr. Felton is also awesome, and might I mention, a world champion in point sparring… I have been going to Olympia for about 5 – 6 years now, and through the good times and the bad, I enjoyed all of it. I am 14 years old and I am currently a 1^st degree brown belt in Kenpo Karate here at Olympia, and I love this place! Thank you to all of the people who work hard to keep everything here enjoyable! My kids have been attending Olympia for martial arts and acrobatic class for months we’ve been very pleased. All of the instructors have been extremely caring and work so well with little kiddos. There’s a video screen in the lobby so you can watch the class while sitting comfortably or my favorite part — there are spin bikes parents can use with a viewing window into the class. A win-​win my kids and I are healthier for attending!

Olympia Martial Arts is a great place to learn. I walked in as a complete beginner. It was terrifying at first (my fitness levels are not where I want them to be), and to be honest I was a little intimidated by the more advanced students. However, everyone was really welcoming and the instructors were very accommodating. The adult classes are at night after work so it’s perfect for my hectic schedule.
I have been attending (semi)regularly since December and I’ve only grown to love this place more. It has a very familial feel. Mr. Mike and Mr. Felton care very much about your personal growth. Goals are set as appropriate and expectations are high, but not impossible. Classes can be intense, but each student works at their own pace. It’s a more supportive than competitive environment. Teachers are always available for questions will spend as much time with you as necessary to help with your technique– before, after and during class. Furthermore! There are field trips to another studio once a month to practice with and learn from other students as well as fun summer camps for kids.
My flexibility, coordination, and strength have improved. Additionally, I feel more confident. It’s nice to know that if I’m ever attacked in a dark alley way, I have a decent chance at getting away with minimal injury. Ideally no injury, and a broken nose to my assailant. One can hope!

Olympia Martial Arts provides individualized instruction and an outstanding level of dedication to their students.
Master Mike is is incredibly dedicated to his students and to running a fantastic karate practice. It is obvious his heart is in the right place. He demonstrates a high level of discipline and patience, without sacrificing fun.
I can only speak as a parent (because I have not personally participated in classes), but I would (and have) recommend (ed) Olympia Martial Arts to anyone looking to train in karate.

I have 2 kids that have been coming to Olympia Martial Arts since January 2013. Mr. Mike and his staff do an excellent job of creating an atmosphere that demands respect and promotes physical fitness through martial arts. We are very pleased with our experience here at Olympia Martial Arts.

Starting karate as an adult is very difficult. When I first started, I had NO flexibility and no karate training. I was able to fit karate into my busy schedule, and it was one of the BEST moves I have ever made. Prior to starting, you have to make sure you are motivated and willing to put in the hard work. When that part is done, make sure you pick the right studio to train ! Below are my reasons for why I think Olympia Martial Arts is one of the best:
You get the Best Workout — EVERY TIME !!
I checked out a couple of local studios and the pace was too slow for me. At Olympia Martial Arts, I get a GREAT workout every single time ! The instructor mixes up his workouts throughout the week. Different types of setups, push ups, variety of cardio workouts, etc. It seems non-​stop and super fun to workout with the group ! My endurance, strength and core has imporved soooo much since joining ! You will not be disappointed !
Diverse Curriculum
The class is structured so you get a wide variety of training. Tuesday classes are designed for sparring, Wednesday classes offer private training, Thursday classes are designed for cardio, Friday classes are a combination of everything. Even within the classes, we mix it up and do a variety of Kenpo karate, grappling, close stance fighting, etc, etc. You get the best of everything.
Motivated Instructors
First off, all the instructors work out with you in class and keep you motivated throughout the session. The instructors have lots of patience, especially for us adults :). The main instructor is in amazing shape and he makes sure that you perform to your full potential. He is also super friendly and a great person to learn from. There is a special instructor on Tuesdays (Mr. Felton), who is one of the best point sparring fighters in the United States. He is also a great guy who will teach you a variety of fighting techniques.
In summary, I drive about 40 minutes each way to go to this particular Karate class in Tustin. I live in Aliso Viejo and would not be making the drive unless I thought it was well worth it. I can vouch for this Dojo !

I absolutely love this place! My son has been coming here for close to a year. He really enjoys it and I can see such a difference in him then when he first started. He has gained confidence and strength. He couldn’t do a single sit up when he started and now he can do over 30. What I like most about the dojo is the faith the instructors have in their students. They believe in them and strongly support them throughout their training. Sparring is one of my sons favorite parts of Kenpo Karate, and several dojos that I have seen do not even offer that for their students.

This place is definitely not for beginner. If you are a beginner, you are given no instruction and are told to mimic the people in front of you.

Olympia Training Center has been a fantastic experience for my son! Mr. Mike is such an great person who really cares about each child and their family. Mr. Felton and all the other teachers are absolutely fantastic at training and coaching young children! It has helped my son not only develop new skills, but also encourages good character, such as self-​control and respect for others. We are huge fans!
