SAVORYFOOD: Their fried chicken is top notch and is this restaurant’s shining specialty. A great Korean bar to eat savory dishes and grab some drinks. All of their savory dishes are pretty large and are much better for sharing family style with your table. The chicken is juicy with extremely crispy breading — perfect. It comes with some pickled radishes and a dipping sauce, which are perfect companions for the chicken. My boyfriend got the kimchi spicy pork and tofu dish. He really enjoyed it. The kimchi and tofu were on point, but I thought the pork quality could have been better. We also shared the Korean seafood pizza, and I thought it was pretty good. I could tell we all preferred the more crispy, more cooked edges of the pizza slices. If the entire pizza was cooked as well as the edges, I think I could devour a lot of the pizza with no problems. THESUSHIROLLS: Formerly known as Monster Sushi, there’s no more AYCE sushi, but the sushi is 50% off all day, making the rolls a little cheaper than at your typical restaurants. In my honest opinion, I believe Tani could really be a 4 or 5 star restaurant, if they made changes to their sushi. Although it’s not Monster Sushi anymore, they still offer the same rolls. What made Monster Sushi good was their AYCE price; I was willing to sacrifice quality for quantity. Now that there is no more AYCE, it’s extremely affordable, but the quality and quantity is just not there. I think it’s time to improve upon the taste now that it’s just pay-per-roll. I had the Mango Salmon roll, and the sickeningly sweet mango«sauce» was not that good on top of salmon sushi on a California roll. The«sauce» needs to be improved upon. My friend had the Ex-Girlfriend roll, and he didn’t like the sauce on it either. He had trouble finishing his last few pieces, and I could tell the struggle was real when he was forcing himself to finish up his food, lol. OVERALL: Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. We would definitely come back again to get their savory dishes, especially the fried chicken. I would love to see improvement in their sushi rolls. That could really turn this place into a fantastic Korean bar AND sushi restaurant.

I’ve been to many restaurants and this place has by far the best service. John the co-owner is the most attentive and caring person I’ve ever dealt with. The food was amazing and the environment was very comfortable. Definitely a 5 star in my book and a place I will come back to have a great night!

Easily one of the best restaurants I’ve been too. Definitely will come back again, family hospitality! As some of the previous reviews on here stated, this is a great addition to the Tustin area!

The service is unparalleled. The food is incredible, and the environment couldn’t be better. This has been the best dining experience I’ve had in Southern California, by far. Do not let the opportunity to eat at this restaurant pass you by.

The food is impressively good, 50% off rolls and nigiri… But I am only leaving them three stars because the service was terrible, the waiter had a terrible attitude and I guess was upset to be working on Valentine’s Day. When I asked for extra spicy mayonnaise he gave me a terrible attitude. But don’t get me wrong the food is really good and it’s very affordable. But the service made me feel very uncomfortable.

This place used to be Monster Sushi and unfortunately that closed down. Well I will say the service here was good. They greeted us right away and they went over the entire menu with us. They were very prompt and courteous which was nice. So now the food. The sushi was really good but the Korean food needs some work. We got kimchi ramen and also a seafood noodle dish. Let’s just say everything was bland on the Korean side. Also, the seafood noodle dish had everything BUT seafood! Such a shame…

What an amazing addition to the Tustin area! Most of the time if you’re looking for a solid Korean bar it’s a short drive up to Garden Grove or a much longer drive to Ktown in LA. Now we don’t have to go that far. My wife and a few of our friends checked out this place on a Saturday night and it was amazing experience. We went for drinks later in the evening so we didn’t order much food, but we did get the Chicken + Beer + Soju combo. The price is on point and the fried chicken was really well done! This is one of the first places around the Irvine/OC area that has flavored soju. We’re not talking a Soju cocktail, but a soju that comes flavored out of the bottle. We had 2 bottles of the Yuzu flavor and it was much better than the blueberry one. John, one of the owners, truly made our first experience a memorable evening and we’re definitely going back soon!

This place used to be amazing when it operated under Monster Sushi(my favorite sushi in OC at that) and now it’s a disgrace. Came in and decided to stay because the waitress said that even though there is no more All You Can Eat there is still half price sushi. Once we sat down we were told that not all sushis on the menu were available. Annoying but we managed to pick. As we were about to hand in our sheet a guy from the back came out and said there is no more sushi available(an hour and a half before closing). This business is poorly run and overly(and greedily) focusing on their new Korean items. They wasted my time and energy and I suggest to all to avoid completely. Such a shame.

My girlfriend and I thought we should try this place cus it just opened up. We tried the fried chicken combo with the 2 L pitcher of beer, the(budaejjigae), skewers, and chicken feet. First of all the beer — they give 2L for literally $ 10!!! And even though it is house beer the beer was very malty and tasty. It was also a bit stronger than most Korean beer. The fried chicken was to die for. Most people don’t like the breast meat because the meat is the driest meat, but not here! Even the breast meat was juicy and the special garlic salt that comes with it accentuates the flavor even more. The chicken was not greasy and very juicy! The skewers also came in many different flavors: grilled chicken heart, grilled chicken breast, grilled steak, grilled spicy shrimp, grilled garlic buds, grilled intestine pieces, and grilled large intestine pieces. They were all delicious and the grilled large intestine skewers were the best as they just melted in your mouth. The budaejjigae was also amazing! There was spinach, bacon, ramen, kimchi, sausage, and Korean style pork belly inside of the soup. The soup was much and spicy and goes well with soju or rice. The chicken feet was sweet and spicy. It is a mixture of Korean spices and teriyaki flavor. The meat was really soft and came right off the feet. The servers were also very attentive and because the kitchen was pretty close to the tables they heard us call for them when we needed their help and came right away. Very courteous and very proficient in English and Korean languages. Highly recommended and a great place for groups or even date night! :)

The Fried chicken is off the hook! Juicy and crispy. Chi-mac combo is a great deal– for $ 30 you get a bucket full of chicken + 2 liter beer & a bottle of Soju. Glad to have found this place on Unilocal– definitely going back there soon– the best part is not having to drive up to Fullerton or Buena Park for a quick drink:)

I love this place! Whilst they do have a sushi menu the main star is the chicken soups they serve! This place is honestly one of the best to get ginseng chicken soup in Orange County with the only competitions being a select few restaurant in Downtown LA’s Koreatown. The fried chicken is perfectly fried and doesn’t have a huge amount of batter(which is a personal preference because I’m not too crazy about eating fried chicken that’s more batter than chicken). The kimchi daikon that comes with the chicken soup is really fresh and generally I just love the atmosphere. 10 out of 10 would recommend for people looking for really great Korean food in the OC and don’t want to head to LA.(:

Was only there for opening day lunch so have not tried their CHIMAC yet but dying to try that & the“night menu” Their SamGaeTang is truly the best in the area. I can’t remember the last time I had such an authentic taste in the OC. Just the right portion served with everything you need. Again, would love to try their KalGookSoo next time I go as well. Going back for more soon!

A Korean/Japanese pub with lots of drinking food. This place replaced Monster Sushi, and in place of AYCE sushi, they serve sushi a la carte with different Korean finger foods and snacks. It wasn’t too packed on a weekday. Pros: + The spicy rice cakes were pretty good, the sauce had this strong miso taste that I liked. + Check-in on facebook, and you get a free large beer. Only one per table normally, but they gave my part of four an extra beer. Servers were friendly in general. + Half off sushi during happy hour! Cons: — The silkworm sundubu tasted like beans in a spicy soup. It was definitely an interesting thing to try, but I’m not too sure if I’d get it again — We came on opening day so only a fourth of the menu was available. Overall, this place reminded me of a Korean Hondaya but with less options. It definitely wasn’t bad, but nothing too special either. I’d probably come again to try their chi-mc(chicken and beer) and the rest of their menu.
