This kitchen is more like family in the desert. To walk inside the door and be greeted by the smell of smoking meats, the sound of people visiting and greeting each other while they await their hand-cooked meals, and the sight of smiling faces, is an experience most of us do not always have a chance to appreciate. Yes, there is no doubt, as one can read in other reviews, even the nasty ones, the food is out-of-this world(or at least out-of-this city) good. However, if you have time to sit back and enjoy the little things in life, you will learn what makes this kitchen in our desert outstanding are the people who work tirelessly and with such love to create these delicious and nutritious meals for all of us in the desert.

I ordered the jerk chicken bowl with plantains, beans, rice and vegetables. It was hands down the best jerk chicken I’ve ever had. Don’t be fooled by the fact that this little gem is hidden inside a mobile station-that just makes it more convenient.

I’ve been sitting here waiting for my food for at least 40 minutes. At this point I really don’t care what the food tastes like. There is one guy and another family who just ordered. Not sure what’s going on in the back. 2 grilled cheeses, a veggie bowl, and a burger. Give me a break.

Everyone in town knows you’ll be waiting forever for your food. Never order for a large group. One hour after you food is ordered, maybe more. Not kidding.

Theres no avocado here. The food was actually really good. Unfortunately the customer service was so terrible. I would honestly say that it isnt worth the wait. One of the employees argued with my friend and even was threatening enough to request to fight outside. I have never been more offended by any establishment. To top everything off… they messed up our order.

So refreshing for this area to have a «foodie» option. Like nothing else around here, well worth the stop. Plus the Beer selection in the liquor mart the restraint is in is THE best in town! Defiantly a must stop in for lunch destination for locals and travelers. PS did i mention they do REAL coffee!

Stopped in on the recommendation of a friend and at first you wonder to yourself because it’s in the back of a liquor store and a gas station. Ordered the Brazilian sandwich and OMG!!! It was AMAZING, one would expect this type of food at a super fancy trendy place. My buddy got the original burger and he said it too was the best!

If you’re hungry and want food, then it’s an okay place. That’s really it, just okay. They offer overpriced, «exotic» ideas with sub-par cooking. Now, for the negative stuff. Me and my wife walked in at 4:15pm when they had literally no business or any evidence of recent orders made and waited 30+ minutes for a Brazilian sandwich and some Greek sliders. Two plates of food, that were served at room temperature to us, took over half an hour. On top of that, the fries were served over cooked and unsalted. Additionally, a woman who walked in a few minutes after us received her meal(also Greek sliders) roughly 10 minutes before we did. If it weren’t for the coffee and variety of food, I would give 1 star. I’d rather spend a little more money and go a few blocks down the road to 29 Palms Inn.

I had the carribean bowl and it was excellent! The people working there were great.

Both my husband & I had the grass fed beef cheese burgers with French fries. The hamburgs were juicy and rare as we ordered. The French fries were delicious. This is a brand new business and we wish them great success.

My brother and I were looking for a good coffee place in 29 Palms. After driving around for 30 minutes looking for a coffee shop, we learned from a local about the Kitchen in the Desert Café that’s located in the back of a Mobil gas station convenience store. This is truly a coffee oasis! The three owners(Dorel, Everton, and Laura) were so friendly and engaging. Their lattes were wonderful!

This was such a great find on our vacation! Best food in town. I had the veggie bowl and was in heaven. I was so thankful that I had enough for left overs. And I was sad I didn’t have time to get there to eat again! I loved the fresh and incredibly flavorful meal.

Fresh ingredients, well-crafted, delicious food and warm, friendly service. Great espresso. AND they deliver! What a great place. I am so happy they settled on Twentynine Palms as the place to set up. It is an unlikely location, at the back of a liquor store on a gas station lot, but that just adds to the cool quirkiness of it. Enjoy!

The food is really good. Tastes fresh with unique menu items. My only issue is I have placed two orders with this place asking for no cilantro. Asked this of the breakfast burrito and chicken bowl. Both times my food came with cilantro. The box my burrito came in even said«no cilantro» on top of it. I don’t really know if this is an error in communication between kitchen and the person taking the order or what, really? Cilantro to me tasted horrible, like soap. I can detect just the tiniest bit in any food. I wish I didn’t. I’m disappointed because every time we do takeout I’m second guessing if I want to even bother a third time. If you like or don’t mind cilantro this place is for you.

Came for some coffee and also grabbed a Pineapple Ginger Lemonade. The lemonade is absolutely delicious. Perfectly sweet and a good balance of flavors. The coffee is REALLY good, let me start with that. I’m disappointed on the time it took to make them, and on the amount of coffee I was given. My cup was, no joke, half empty. I ordered a Machiatto and it’s delicious, but I just wish there was more of it. My husband got an Americano, but his cup was also not as full as I wish It would have been. There isn’t sizes to choose from either. It’s just the one size. Maybe I’m not understanding how the menu works? I still plan on trying the food here as well and will update my review once I do.

Mmmm… mmmm. That is a tasty burger! It’s a shame that this place has a sign out front the Mobil calling it island cuisine or whatever it says because that’s really not the vibe. They do have a Caribbean rice bowl on the menu but people gotta know it’s all about the burgers and fries!

Today I had the pleasure of eating at an amazing new establishment named Kitchen In The Desert Café. I ordered the Signature Burger Medium Well, which is a half pound burger with all of the fixings. The meal came out to $ 12.42. Initially I was worried about the price, but when the burger came out it was AMAZING. cooked perfectly stacked perfectly. The burger was well seasoned, the white cheddar was a perfect combination with this burger because the strong cheddar cheese complimented the burger instead of over powering it. The bacon was also cooked to perfection. Not only was the meal amazing but so was the customer service, these guys have put their heart and souls into this and they are doing it right. Did I mention they deliver everything inside of the Mobile Gas Station. As long as you make a 15 dollar of their amazing food. If you are looking for great food and great service in our small community this is it! Come stop by you won’t be disappointed.

Well I don’t normally drink coffee, but I like this coffee. I think favorite though is the Brazilian bowl. I forgot to take a photo but oh man that was super good! It’s in the Mobil gas station inside in the back, across from jack in the box. The people are super nice! Me and my wife are frequent customers. It’d be cool if they did a frequent customer card or something. Lol. But it’s a growing hidden gem for coffee and like caribean food. Definitely what 29 palms needs.

29 Palms is coming around with the coffee scene. These guys are embracing the young population here, including marines and families, and local artists. They are pushing JT’s organic coffee and it’s amazing. Excited to see what they cook up when they put out a menu.
