This spot is perfect if you are trying to stay healthy or vegan/vegetarian while in Tahoe. They always have their special vegan lunch. I am a huge fan of their vegetarian wrap(hummus, spinach, pepper, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes — super healthy and tasty). I also recommend their vegetarian chilli soup, which has 3 kinds of beans and is perfect meal after skiing in cold weather. Just add cheese and green onions and the combination is a killer. This place has other great vegetarian options such as rice bowl with guacamole and beans(it is not on the menu but make sure to ask, they always have it). They always have second kind of vegetarian soup. I really enjoyed smoked Gouda with bell pepper, it was really interesting and tasty. Another great benefit of this place it is not as busy but it could take a while to get your wrap when there is only one person serving the food.

Chicken burrito has a nice sauce marinade in it. Great to see healthier options at Sierra along with the usual burgers, etc.

People are going to be wondering why this place, a little food stand in Sierra-at-Tahoe resort, is getting a five-star from a Michelin eating snob like me. It’s going to be a hard one to justify and perhaps entirely taste oriented but I’ve yet to find a place where RESORTFOOD is part of the reason why I keep coming back. Some nights I dream about burritos they serve here at the Happie Hippie. The delicious wheat tortilla that tastes suspiciously not wheat, brown rice and this amazing chicken /tofu. Whatever it is they marinate it in, it’s bomb diggity. Yes that’s a word. Seriously what is this? Crack marinade? It’s SO good. The burrito, for a minimal less than $ 10.00 after tax is incredibly packed to the point where yes you do have to eat it with a fork, oh but what a good forkin’ meal it is. It’s packed full of rice, beans, tofu or chicken and lots of that delicious marinade sauce. I think that’s how they get you, they force you to dream about their burritos so you keep coming back time and time again. Forget the slopes. It’s all about the burrito. The staff here are patient, friendly, and much easier on you when you have no idea what you want on your burrito and change your mind 3 times in 2 minutes. You also get a free granola bar with each purchase. Great for those afternoon snacking cravings you get after the food coma from the burrito wears off on the slopes. Oh Happie Hippie. I guess I will see you again next year.
