I have been to this restaurant many times and have never left disappointed or hungry. Servers are all very attentive and top notch. I enjoyed the 1 lb of boiled shrimp and it was so flavorful and delicious. He had the Prodhomme; steak was cooked to perfection! Thanks to the tall blonde server that took care of us. We will definitely be returning!

Great food. Really friendly staff. Salmon is delicious we topped it with the seafood and étouffée, was enough for two of us to share.

I have been going to Happy’s since they opened and found the food to be extraordinary. Always more than one could eat. However, yesterday, I took my boss there for lunch. She questioned the waitress if she could purchase one rib to go with her Shrimp Etoufee’. She was told no! You would think that a place wanting to make money would allow for someone to purchase on rib. I was also disappointed in the plate that I received. I ordered from the lunch menu Shrimp and Oysters. Little did I know that it was two shrimp and two oysters, hardly enough to satisfy a lunch appetite. Again the waitress did not bother to come and ask if we needed anything until we were through eating. I know this all sounds a little cheesy, but, I pay not only for food, but, also for service. I am not saying I won’t go back, its just that is wasn’t a pleasant dining experience.

Really good étouffée, great cheese grits. Our only regret is we were too stuffed to try the bread pudding! And if the parking lot is packed, don’t worry… its a big restaurant!

Our first visit today, lunch, nice meal, waiter Joshua did an excellent job. My only beef is $ 2.75 for a glass of tea that was not much different than colored water. Next time we get water only. Meal was terrific though.

I have a strong affinity for New Orleans cuisine(Cajun, Creole, and everything in between). That being said, I don’t often find(good) food from the region outside of Louisiana itself. Having never been to Tyler before, I wasn’t aware of just how close we were to the border(with LA), or the Gulf. What does this mean for the hungry traveler? This is about as authentic as it gets! I guess Tyler is basically in the region, which again as an outsider I didn’t know. Boy, was I happy it was, though. Fried catfish. None finer. That’s a fact. I tried a little of a lot, but the fried catfish platter was absolutely delicious. Cornmeal crust, perfectly fried so it was not greasy or underdone, crispy, crunchy, but soft and fresh fish inside, and very piping hot. This was just a home run all around. For sides, I had… * Red beans and rice: full flavored! Smokey meat blends perfectly with the slow-cooked red beans. The rice was unseasoned, as it should be, but served side-by-side, so you could mix as you saw fit. Nicely done! * Cheese grits: I need to learn how to make these at home. Not just any cheese grits, but Happy’s. They were… just… I mean… I don’t know how they packed that much cheese flavor without overwhelming the corn subtleties of the grits. Perfect. I’d eat a plate of this alone. We started with the boudin balls, which were huge! Each one was sized about between golf ball and billiard ball. They were also very hot, fresh, and full flavored. Smokey, but subtle; spicy, but not overwhelming. Nice start to an amazing meal. My colleague ordered breakfast(not a huge seafood fan), and it came with pancakes which we totally missed. Enormous portion! Unbelievable price for the amount of food you get. It was a little price, I suppose, for the town if nothing else, but not by far expensive. Definitely not with my experience anyway. Plus, you get a lot of food for the money. The drinks are served fast and fresh, the food was amazing, and the atmosphere screams«Mardi Gras!» The zydeco music in the background was a pleasant reminder of the Big Easy, and the food completed the scene. If I’m ever in Tyler again, I’m stopping here. This is as good as what you can find in New Orleans, and well worth the trip!

The seasoning tasted similar to what I have had in New Orlesns. The servings were large. The atmosphere and staff were fun.

No fancy words here. That said, it was really good. My wife did the fried shrimp and catfish with fries and green beans as her sides. I got the bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp with dirty rice and cheesy grits for my sides. Both plates had hush puppies and an onion ring or two on them too. The grits were the best I’ve ever had anywhere. They’re made with 3 different cheeses. The rings were really good. I splurged on their bread pudding for dessert. It was exceptional!!! Wife got the brownie. It was large and good, but normal. We will eat there again. Victoria was our server, and she was accurate, attentive and as engaged with us as we wanted to be… then she was off and working elsewhere. She took good care of us without being intrusive. The manager came by and talked to me as long as I wanted, then he moved on too. This was a good good experience overall.

My husband came here for dinner while we were exploring our future city. We saw this place on our last visit here so we had to stop! We were not disappointed ATALL! We were saying that this would be our spot when we move. I had the catfish and shrimp and they were fresh and fried to perfection! The shrimp were huge! He had the Pondhuce(?) And oh my goodness that meal was sooooo good!!! Our server Lauryn was a hoot and made our experience so fun! Ask for her! We will def be back!

Did not disappoint. The onion rings were great. Hush puppies a little small, but only in comparison to the freaking ginormously humongous shrimp and servings of delicious Cole slaw and the stuffed potato that was super bacony. Loved it definitely eating here again, hopefully not take out this time. O yeah the bread pudding was awe inspiring. Correction to the shrimp bacon wrapped stuffed butterfly shrimp. Come on! Astounding.

Catfish, cheese grots, and okra were all excellent. I just ordered the bread pudding and expect the same. The service is great as well. Oh, had a hurricane for my drink, NOT stiff enough, but it’s Sunday, I probably shouldn’t be drinking anyway. Lol If I come back to Tyler, I definitely would come back.

Went here on a Friday night for dinner based on the Unilocal reviews. It wasn’t too busy; only had to wait a few minutes before we were seated. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp at the suggestion of my waitress. My bf had the seafood platter. Both dishes were really good. The portions were good and accompanied by sides. My favorite item of the night was the fried whitefish. They have all you can eat catfish on Wednesday nights that I will need to try. Also, they are open for breakfast, which I hear is tasty.

When you want to enjoy really great, fresh seafood in a fun and funky Cajun setting, come to Happy’s! They now proudly serve breakfast(!), and from the looks of the HUGE smiles on the faces of some fellow diners, it’s a good thing! DONOTMISS the«Oysters Happy’s». Don’t ask, just wonder why anyone else would ever order Oysters Rockefeller when these exist! Service? Friendly and attentive. Ask for Tamla. She’s amazing!
