The building is a different set up then I’m used to, but it was cool. My husband has never been to Lubys and he liked the different selections they have. I seem to always get the fried chicken and it was decent compared to what I’ve had in the past. I will still come here again though

If you are interested in any customer service whatsoever… Don’t come here. Yes you can say«it’s a buffet. What do you expect?» But to me that unacceptable. Say you are in a bind and need to get lunch for your kids. So you go in 3 minutes before the official opening time(because they open the doors at 1030) well they will stand there staring at you until exactly 11 twiddling their thumbs(yes staring) and they will tell you«3 minutes left» really I want to sons my money somewhere that appreciated my business. Yes cheap food but cheap service too and it’s not very tasty either. Won’t be back

I’ve been hooked on their fried fish for many years; decades probably. I get a big spoonful of salsa and plop that next to the fish. I adore their cabbage but their servings of veggies are too small; thus the 4 stars. Then I get their delicious turnip greens that look like they have bacon bits in them. It’s almost a half hour drive to the place from where we live so I can drop into Steinmart after lunch. BTW; try their dinner rolls!!!

Luby’s is so great most of the time; I’m not sure why they’re disappearing so much. Fried fish, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, such great comfort food. But I felt like I should let people know that I got a bad case of stomach flu after eating here last weekend. It was the only thing I ate on Sunday besides a bowl of cereal, and by Monday morning I was really sick. My doctor said it was probably because one of the people working there didn’t wash their hands, which really grossed me out. It’s going to take me a while before I can eat here again, and you might want to be cautious also.

For home cooked taste and standard southern favorites, Lubys can’t be beat. They’ve added a new create your own salad with some wonderful ingredients like marinated artichoke hearts, candied pecans, and black beans with corn along with their always fresh never packaged salad greens. Mac and cheese, fried okra, pinto beans, homestyle mashed potatoes, broccoli rice casserole, along with new fish preparations along with old standbys like baked chicken, ham, liver and onions, meatloaf, and roast beef as well as great desserts. Can’t be beat and still serving the LuAnn platter.
