OMG! It is about 5 miles outside the loop and not a fru-fru cookie cutter place. i do not think in all my years i have ever been to or tasted anything like this. Normally it is the sauce that gets in the way of the bbq or the meats are so dry you need the sauce… i feel like Goldilock saying this bbq is JUSTRIGHT-PERFECTION! The guys there were so so so extremely kind it made my heart melt! Not at all pricey — in fact i felt like i needed to pay more! The ones that think they have eaten really good bbq… have NOT been to PAT“S BBQ!

This is a no pretense bbq joint. Like the sign says, «Open till the meat is gone.» Most of the time when I stop by, there are some older black men passing the day. The sliced beef sandwiches are really good. I’m 58 years old and been eatin’ bbq for ever. Ribs, brisket… oh my. Not too far from the house, and I drive by there fairly regular. No a/c, just fans in the windows. Lots of folks buy by the pound and take it home. Older black folks know great bbq… so do fat old white boys. My personal opinion is it’s some of the best bbq around Tyler and Kilgore.

True hole in the wall on a County Road off HWY31 just East of Tyler. Solid meat that’s covered in sauce. Ask for it «hot»… Potato salad was loaded with garlic and maybe some horseradish. I like both so it was good.
