Very friendly staff, I enjoy the classes. My favorite is Zumba with Karina. Im usually intimidated by weight room when I go alone but at Woodcreek Im not everyone is nice and willing to help. I even made new friends.

Well, where to begin. This gym isn’t exactly new, which is fine, I didn’t mind the look too much when I first started coming here two years ago. I came from a newer gym so the look of outdated and well-worn equipment was a change of pace but the fact that this gym offered a lot that the other gyms in the area didn’t was a major plus. About a year ago I would have given this gym four stars, today I feel like I’m being generous giving it two. They started remodeling a year ago(the anniversary of which is coming up, I remember when it started) and things have progressively gotten worse. The locker rooms(at least the men’s side as I have no idea about the condition of the women’s) are atrocious. Out of four showers only two of them are usable. One remains unfinished for God only knows how long, the other lacks a simple shower curtain and shower rod. I’m sure a nudist would love the arrangement but I prefer some privacy when I shower so a totally visible shower to me is useless. if you manage to snag one of the only two usable showers you better have brought your own soap, the dispensers in EVERY shower are broken or nonexistent(the price you pay when you install the cheapest dispensers money can buy). What passes for soap is one giant bottle of soap that is getting less and less. I shudder to think what happens when that goes, soapless showers are going to become the norm I guess. Don’t bother telling the staff, nothing seems to ever get done. The hot tub has the dual function of being a hot tub and a human pressure cooker, as it frequently gets up to over 104 degrees(is that even legal?) and turns your skin red, bright red. The steam room finally seems to stay consistently on(before it seemed to have days where it would randomly be off for no apparent reason) which is good. The shower area is also a peeping tom’s dream. There is obvious exposure into the women’s locker room from above one of the showers. Anyone who is willing to grab a chair and stand on it would be able to stare into the adjacent room(I imagine this also works in reverse of course). Another great bonus: for those of you who really get a kick on spying on others, there’s a drop off on the second floor between the treadmill/cardio area and the rest of the floor. In between this drop off there is a very visible slit that looks into the men’s shower area. If you are in the men’s shower area look around because you can see up into the cardio area(which is how I know about this) so I am imagining the reverse is also true. If you can look up, imagine who else is looking down! In short, I don’t know what it is about this place. Between the nudist friendly showers and the peeping tom’s heaven«special spots» people talk about, this gym seems to have a kinky feel to it(not what I want from a gym!). If you can stand the soapless shower after your scalding hot tub visit(which is at a reasonable 101 degrees now after God only knows how many complaints) and you enjoy the prospect of being ogled, then I would recommend this gym. If none of this sounds appealing, looks elsewhere to workout. I know I sure am.

Beware. Woodcreek Athletic Club in Tyler has a very sneaky cancellation policy. Somewhere, hidden in their contract and blended in, in a strange spot, is a clause that states, once your contract is up, they have the«right» to continue charging you month after month, for membership. However, they do not communicate to you that you must fill out a cancellation form after your contract has expired to prevent this from happening. They leave it up to you to do your own due diligence in discovering such a cancellation form. Communication and transparency is usually key in customer retention and referrals. However, this is not the case with Woodcreek or the GM, Danny Saenz. Danny was very uncooperative when speaking with him on this matter. He stated, «We don’t talk about such things over the phone, nor do we give refunds of any kind.» So, if you’re out of town or have moved, you must make a trip to Tyler to even talk to Mr. Danny about such matters. They charged my card for 9 months after my contract ended and I never stepped foot back in the club, since my contract ended in February 2014. They have a secure check-in process and can see that I never returned after my contract expiration. Sure, it’s up to individuals to monitor activity on their bank statements, but a $ 35 charge can go unnoticed very easily. Should you have to be so leery of the gym you workout at? Gyms know they have a high turnover rate. Therefore, work round the clock to figure ways to keep charging people. Woodcreek can be a good place to workout. Just be very aware of their sneaky policies and know, from day one, what you’re getting yourself into. Should they refund the money that I’m due, I would be glad to modify this review.

Almost 4 years later I’ll update my review for Woodcreek. I still like it and am still a member. I attend quite a few of the classes and can’t say enough nice things about the instructors. But the building is old… I can tell the new owner is making positive changes but he can only work with what he has. Parking is just awful. It’s no secret about the break ins and the lack of lighting.

Finally had to quit Woodcreek. It’s huge and offers lots of classes, but the club is just an old, dilapidated mess.
