Atlas Moving And Storage

A trucker nearly hit us, didn’t stop at a stop sign in a residential road. Be careful if you see them on the street they do not stop their trucks and drive like they own the road. Horrible moving company if they are going to drive like a bunch of savages.

Since some of our furniture was damaged (and one of my bookshelf’s went missing) they had an insurance company come out to make an assessment. After about a MONTH of hounding down the claim people we finally got a check cut for the price to repair the damages. My advice is, if you use this company, you must stay on top of them should you need to get any money back. It was worth it — but I still wouldn’t use them again. I gave them one more star because at least they compensated us for the damage and the amount we received was totally reasonable.

UNPROFESSIONAL, NEGLIGENT, UNACCEPTABLE: These are the 3 words that sum up my experience with Atlas.
I was more then willing to pay the exuberant quote (OVER $ 12,000) I was billed because I was assured it was the cost of top quality service — that my belongings were in capable hands and would receive the upmost care in packaging and shipping. When I was told I’d have to pay extra for a custom crate to ship my delicate chandelier, I didn’t complain. Again, I trusted them when they said they wanted to make my move as seamless as possible — which is what makes my experience with this company so incredibly disappointing. I have never dealt with such profound negligence and unprofessionalism, it is shocking.
Where to begin? The reps I have been talking to, Jack and Michelle, have been relatively professional. Michelle has been nonexistent during this time even though she the agent I spoke to the most– I suppose when things go horribly wrong, this companies’ employees are taught to ignore disgruntled customers. Jack has responded promptly to my emails, we’ll see if anything get’s done. So far, the only thing that the company has done is charge my credit card IN FULL for the horrible service they provided. Another shock unto itself. Truly unbelievable.
My move was from NYC to LA. As half my stuff was going to storage and half was going to my new apartment in LA, I tried to make things as simple as possible for the movers, by taking the time to mark each individual box either «storage» or «apartment». I was told repeatedly this would not be a problem — everything would be well organized to ensure the move went smoothly. The information was completely disregarded!
Prior to delivery, the company was informed multiple times that my new apartment was located on a very narrow street. Again, I was assured by the reps that the appropriate truck would be used — this information was also completely disregarded. The movers were scheduled to arrive at 9am in LA, they showed up unapologetically late and the truck they showed up in was too large to fit down the street, so everything had to be lugged from two blocks away.
Everything was completely disorganized — and all the furniture hardware was mixed into ONE BOX. It took hours to separate what was staying in the apartment and what was going to storage. Whatever assurance I was given that everything was organized was a downright lie.
Even when told which pieces to bring in, the movers still couldn’t manage to listen and so they had to make multiple trips back and forth to the truck when told once again that they had grabbed the wrong piece, The custom crate I willingly paid for to ensure my chandelier would arrive undamaged was carelessly thrown on it’s side despite being clearly marked «FRAGILE /​THIS SIDE UP». They refused to open the crate to check if there was any damage, citing that they didn’t have the necessary tools to do so.
The movers damaged private property while carelessly lugging my belongings to and from the truck. They then claimed to not know how to re-​assemble multiple pieces of furniture — which is a task that I was assured would be completed upon delivery (it is clearly stated in my contract and in multiple emails between myself and the representatives). When I inquired as to where my glass coffee table was, an item that I had clearly stated would be delivered to the new apartment, the moving crew claimed to have no idea where it was — they said no such item was on the truck.
Exasperated, frustrated, and exhausted we headed to the storage unit. Upon arriving, the movers threatened me saying I would have to pay for keeping them overtime. Their unprofessionalism knew no bounds. They took off without ever going through the inventory list that they were given to ensure all items had been delivered. We had to go through to make sure everything was delivered which is when I uncovered the «missing» glass table — SHATTERED with an INCIDENT REPORT taped on top, According to Atlas, it is sufficient to wrap an expensive GLASS table in black plastic bags and apparently, it is a customary practice to pretend to have misplaced items so as to no have to deal with the consequences of delivering damaged property.
All in all, I have never experienced such unprofessional, negligent, and unacceptable service in my life. The company has been contacted, further action is being awaited. Save yourself the trouble, stress, and money — Don’t use Atlas.

Nightmare. Agreed completely with the review above. They gave me a decent quote for a 1 br apt — about 1550. Were supposed to be at the apartment at 8, didn’t show up until 1. WHen they finished moving my things into the truck, they handed me a bill for 2500. They said I had double the amount of stuff they had quoted me on and they could either take it to the scales after which I would HAVE to pay them however much my stuff cost — the guy estimated it at about 5000 – 6000 lbs at 52 cents a pound — OR — I could pay him 750 up front and they wouldnt take it to the scale. What can you do in that situation? I ended up paying him 750 and they promised a 5 – 7 day arrival in CO from CA. 2 weeks later after I had to call every single day they eventually dropped my things off in less than perfect condition. My tables were shakey, and my bed frame was missing its wheels and the plates that connect it to the headboard. Miserable. They trashed my new apartment moving everything in and left it that way. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They also go by the name FLAT PRICE MOVING.

Do not use Atlas Moving and Storage! This company deserves 0 stars. Where do I begin? I was moving from CT to CO. I called up Atlas and told them how much stuff I had. They gave me a fair quote and I paid a 20% deposit. So far so good… or so I thought. Our movers were scheduled to pickup at 9a. So my wife and I woke up early to get last minute cleaning and packing done. We were finished by 9:30 but still no word from the movers. I called, they said they would be delayed until 1p. So 1 p rolls around and still no movers. I called, and they said the movers were stuck in traffic. 4p rolls around and still no movers… still stuck in traffic apparently. Although I did a traffic search on google maps and everything was green. The movers finally arrive around 5. I must say, they worked quite efficiently. However, we were supposed to pay them ½ the quote (around $ 700.) Instead the driver hands us a ridiculous bill ($ 2100). He explains that the quote was off instead its going to cost roughly 3 times the amount. what can we do?, All our stuff is already packed on the truck. We pay the guy and then he goes on to say tip is typically 10−15% of the total moving cost per mover. That means roughly $ 500 per person for less than an hours work. I don’t think so!
Well its been about 2 weeks since that debacle. I still don’t have any of my belongings in CO. I’ve tried to call to figure out where my stuff is, only to be given the run around. When and if I get my stuff, the BBB is definitely getting a call. Do not use this company. Do not be fooled by their quotes. I am paying around $ 5000 to move $ 2000 worth of stuff.

This is an unlicensed broker/​mover operating out of someone’s apartment. The business was not even registered under the name Atlas, but as «Household» (
). Avoid at all costs!

This is the most horrible moving company EVER. THEY DID NOT SHOW UP FOR MY MOVE. They left us stranded with our belongings and did not show up. We called and called and they kept saying that there was nothing they could do and the driver got pulled over and had to go home. I have NEVER in my life experienced customer service like this. It is absolutely disgusting. I will not rest until they go out of business. A company that operates like this should not be in business, don’t give them your money!!!
