Babies R Us

This is what every Babies R Us looks like… Huge spaces, very few people on the floor for assistance, beat up selections on bigger ticket items and no help at custom furniture. I’ll just look to spend my $ 500+ for a glider somewhere else.

They have bad reviews here but much to my suprise «Brian» helped me get the registry and find my babyshower gift in record time! He carried it to the register and then to my car. 5 stars from me!!! Thanks–

I’ve been here about 10 times since we started our baby registry. Can’t really complain about anything. Store is mostly clean, ESPECIALLY compared to the Fremont Pac Commons locations. Workers often offer help and are pretty informative when they do. Their sections is pretty good, and although the prices are slightly higher than online, they price match easily and I’ve scored some clearance items that you can’t find online, like a 300 $ brand new crib that was incorrectly ordered for $ 150 (sweet). Im pretty cheap and walk around with my phone scanning UPC codes so I’m somewhat aware if I’m being ripped off.
The biggest difference of here compared to the Fremont one is its so calm and peaceful the majority of the time which is helpful when you want take your sweet time looking at baby stuff.
Haven’t ordered anything yet for online pickup or something that would maybe «test» the employees more but my gut feel is that the employees would be able to help me if I needed it.

Stupid people. No help. So annoying. I just wasted gas to go all the way here. I should of read the reviews first. Now i have to go back all the way in Daly City.

Hate the cashier there, never pays attention to what they are doing even when there is like 10 customers waiting. Chitchatting about nonsense stuff. Get the line completed then talk about how your weekend is going.

I hate this store. I don’t use that word often, but being in this store was a living nightmare. Not to mention that I am totally against stores like this that capitalize on the need of expecting families who are going to be in financial troubles for the next 18 years.
Everything is overly priced and can be found at other, more conveniently placed and more affordable stores. The only reason I had to go there was because a relative registered here for a baby shower. Probably the only reason this store is still alive. Ugh. Completely difficult to find items that were listed on the registry. Maybe some system can be created so the listed item has the location it is in the store… please.

You guys are a nightmare every single time I go to babies r us union city I have problems every single time believable from taking more money out of my credit card to tell me that the items are not from babies r us to not helping. I just hate going to shop there from the staff horrible staff. As if they don’t want to work or help.

Wifey and I registered here months ago and we have had great service here. We’ve purchased furniture and have used countless coupons, none of which caused us any grief. The staff has a lot of young employees but they treated us very well. Management helped us with multiple furniture orders and helped facilitate the whole process. All in all, I will continue to shop here. Very hassle free and attentive.

Costumer Service is great! The manager Chris and supervisor eddy is awesome! They’re very helpful. This place has everything my baby needs. It’s a stop shop!

I’ll try to explain in describing people because I don’t have their names.
If you need help look for the thin guy with a really long ponytail. He works in furniture and special orders but is helpful in all departments.
Steer away from the small Filipino lady at the register, she’s the worst in customer service courtesy. She didn’t try to patiently answer my questions. She’s just a blunt, one way street, person. Not the treatment you need at 8 months pregnant.
Overall, the employees here are helpful and I frequent this place often.

Needed to get a gift for a baby shower and this location had it, so we ordered online and get our butts over here to pick it up.
We didn’t stay at the store long as the customer service agent went and got our items really quickly and smoothly No fuss or muss. Just the way I like it. Items were priced perfectly so I had no qualms. Location wasn’t super busy so when I picked up an extra item, the line went by quickly.
If you’re efficient just order online and pick up at this store. No real complaints. A smooth transaction and experience.

Will not shop here, ever. The manager is a jerk, almost want to say that he is a racist, so sad.

Once again I had to go to babies r us. We have last minute shopping to do before the baby comes. Edy and Alex both helped me find what I was looking for. Again, never disappointed when I come here.

I have to say Edward is the best every single time I come here he gives me the beet customer service ever. He’s very nice!

They offer FREE classes on breastfeeding, car seat installation & safety, newborn basic care & comfort measures during labor. They also had a raffle & I won a diaper genie elite :) (they gave everyone in the seminar a prize! no one left empty handed) I always thought that their prices are always higher compared to Walmart/​Target but I was able to buy a Gerber 2 pc. sleep gown for $ 7.89 + additional 50%off for a total of $ 3.99 plus tax. — the exact item is $ 10.99 at Target. The prices at babies R Us are mostly higher but they also have good deals and they price match! Thank you for the free classes! :)

This location SUCKS. I placed an order online so that I could pick up my item on the way home from work. Union City was the only location that had my item in stock, otherwise I would have gone to the Pacific Commons location. I walked up to the Customer Service desk. There were three associates working. Two busy helping others and one young girl who looked like she was trying to look busy. Finally she acknowledged me with, «What you need?!» Uhhhhhh… I hand her my receipt and she replies, «And your license?!» God help this girl. She is so miserable at her job. She walks away and gets my item. «Here.»
Unless I have no choice but to visit this location, I won’t be coming back.

I live in Dublin but my mom lives in Fremont. I came her once and had a horrible experience with the sales guy. I needed to purchase a bedroom set for my brother new baby as a gift from me. I did not want to give them my business however It was convenient to my moms house who was watching my kids while I shop. Anyhow I went in a bit worried HOWEVER I was extremely pleased and left beyond satisfied due to Edward assisting me and being the best help ever. He was so friendly, knew what he was doing, professional, helpful and exactly what every associate should be in a family orientated store! I’m already overwhelmed with my kids and need my shopping experience to be pleasant, relaxing and stress free! I bought a bedroom set is less than 30 minutes and I was not rushed at all by him! He just knew what he was doing! I have gone back 3x since and he’s been super friendly every time!
The other manager was friendly as well and offered me a 20% off coupon since mine was 1 day expired!
Anyhoots I will always visit this store when in the neighborhood. :))

Today, I bought a baby swing from this store. There were three of these swings boxed on the shelf, all of which looked to have been opened and re-​taped shut. I figured the boxes may have popped open during shipping. When I took the swing home to assemble it, it was obviously an item that had been returned and reshelved.
First, there was a used bottle of nail polish inside the box (Ewww!). Second, the seat cover smelled strongly of fabric softener. Third, the seat cover had spots of mildew on it, and part of it was crusted and matted with an unknown substance (More ewww!!!). It was disgusting! If I had given this as a shower gift, I would’ve been mortified!
Now, I have to drag this huge box back to the store, with my three-​month-​old in tow. Do they not inspect returned items? Do they just tape up the box and toss it back on the shelf?

Couldn’t find anyone to help me and when i went to check out, i asked the cashier if their location sell the Mama Earth Angel Baby brand and he said, «I don’t know, i just ring.»

I’m not going to boost the rating, but my last review may have actually been read (Where’s The Help?).
The store is still a little short-​staffed (it would be nice if there was at least one more employee around on Saturdays), but one of the main employees has really stepped up his game in recent months (I actually feel for him– he was run ragged during my last 2 visits). I’ve seen some other employees make more of an effort too.
A new guy wasn’t able to help my wife on Saturday, but he quickly led her to another employee. The woman was stoic (my wife didn’t like that), but quite helpful.
My wife and I usually find what we’re looking for here, but not always (for example, we had to buy a child harness at Target on Saturday).
After you make a purchase, you’ll basically walk out with a pamphlet (along with your receipt, you’ll be given a Gift Receipt and a coupon receipt– the receipts are very long and also mention some promotions). I always feel like my wife and I have just gone shopping at 3 stores at once.
Keep The Line Moving:
Some of the cashiers are too chatty (this is especially an issue when they’re interacting with slow and chatty customers).
It’s nice that they’re friendly, but they should keep things moving when there’s a line.
The Candy section sucks now (it was recently redone).
Big League Chew Original is really the only «candy» still remaining.
The rest of the section features chocolate covered items (I love chocolate, but the bags of these items don’t look appealing).
Update (⁷⁄₁₁):
There’s a solid selection of candy near the exit, but it’s kind of hidden.
It’s $ 50, but my wife and I may buy a Thomas the Tank Engine chair next time (I believe this is it–
).
Our son has a Thomas the Tank Engine toy, and he likes to say «Choo-​choo.»
The baby registry kiosk was out of order on Saturday.
I’ve seen it down before too.
In general, the store is now cleaner and less cluttered than it used to be.
Sometimes this is the place to be.
I ran into one of my old supervisors once (it was good to see her, but her husband was all antsy to leave), and my wife bumped into a coworker on Saturday. He was shocked that she couldn’t remember his name (she really doesn’t see him at work). Oh well (get over yourself, buddy).
You may find yourself waiting around a little if you need help.
The employees, though, are friendly overall.
