I bring my 9 year old son here, and typically get good service. I am not complaining about medical services. HOWEVER, today, the pediatric receptionist tried to charge me a co-​pay for my sons annual wellness visit. I explained that preventative care is covered at 100%, and not subject to co-​pay or deductible by ACA mandate (I work in the insurance industry). She checked with her supervisor who confirmed I had to pay the co-​pay. I said sure, but you’re wrong and in violation of the ACA.
She said she could call the insurance company if I liked. They, of course, confirmed what I told them. No co-​pay. Good for me, but seeing as how they service a very poor area, I feel bad for people who have had to pay this unnecessary fee, many of whom may not be in a position to throw away money.

You can say a lot of things about North Hudson Community Action Corp good and bad but, they help you out when you are sick and don’t ask for money up front and will work with you on payment. Where else can you get that kind of service? So, you will definitely be waiting for a while to see a doctor and the waiting room is crowded but, you get the same level of care that you would get anywhere and for little money. It’s okay in my book.

The receptionists here are asshats. Bad attitudes, sour faces. Be prepared, you will want to brake something after being «helped» by the sour faced brunette at the front desk.
They don’t know how to do their job properly or efficiently. They ask useless and unnecessary questions. Every time you go, they want a new piece of paperwork which they expect you to produce out of thin air. If they need you to bring information/​documentation they should make that request verbally, we are only human and cannot guess what a person is thinking. One cannot be expected to present information without first knowing that information is needed. One is not a mind reader.
Be prepared to wait. The clinic is a good resource to the community and the health care they provide is good if you are lucky enough to get an appointment. Having said that, they need better people working there.

This is one of the worst public health services I have encountered.
After having strep throat for a week, I tried to contact this clinic to schedule an appointment. I just needed to get a prescription for antibiotics. But I could not get through to any live person to schedule an appointment.
I ended up walking to the clinic to schedule an appointment, and I was turned away. A nurse there told me to find a different clinic because this clinic was overwhelmed with patients.
She gave me a phone number for the main office for this clinic, but no one answered there either.
I am currently in a bad spot — unemployed and homeless. But I was turned away from the clinic and had to pay a for-​profit doctor in Union City over $ 100 just to get a prescription for 7 pills to get over my strep throat.
This is a Horrible public service — very badly managed. I’ve been to clinics in San Diego, CA, that are much better. All public health clinics have issues with funding and staffing. I’ve learned that waiting is a necessary part of going to clinics. But at least the staff at clinics in San Diego answer their phones and see you in the same day.
This is the first time I have ever been turned away from a clinic and had the staff refuse to give health care.
