I haven’t gone here much, but when I do I always have a good time. Some days of the week it’s chill, other day are festive and fun. The bartenders are nice and easy going. It’s also a minute away from my residence. If I have too much to drink, I just stumble home. It’s definitely worth stopping by, at least once.

Peppertree Lounge is discretely hidden behind a taqueria/bakery in the right corner of this commercial strip. it’s prescene is advertised on the large standing sign for this strip. n the main sign. it’s a small long-countered bar. 2 pool tables, music, booze, and the flatscreens are the main draw. pour: gin & tonic(4) –heavy pour, well worth it on draught: –a few brews and microbrews. –mostly older guys in the early afternoon, cool sports crowd. –lots of parking all around.

The bartender seems like a good guy, but I’ve got places to go where I love my bartenders and my KJs and the drinks are good/better at lower prices. The only reason I go here, is because I can walk around the corner and sing a few songs. So tonight, I got one song in… and the KJ sang right after me… I sat there, waiting for my second song… right when I thought I’d be up, the KJ started singing again. Good job eliminating the only reason for me to walk in and order drinks.

Peppertree is the new Smiling Jack’s. They even have the same Fri/Sat DJ! If you’re from Union City, then you know exactly what I am talking about. If not, you have no business being here. You’ve been warned.

Scene– Local watering hole in a dying strip mall. 10 or so people bellied up. Ages range from 35 to 60. Various degrees of drunk. Two pool tables. A large calender of the home and away games for the San Francisco 49ers 1998 season. Neon signs of various beers. It’s early evening, the sun is still fat in the sky but dusk is creeping. The main principles are at the elbow of the bar. They are red faced with wet eyes. Whiskey and beer sit in front of them like a taunt. Drunk #1– «Is that what punani means?» Drunk# 4– «Yup.» Drunk #7– «Yup.» Drunk #2– «Yup.» Drunk #1– «Huh. I always said, «Purbobby» Drunk#3 — «Why?» Drunk #1 «I don’t know.» Main Principles 1&2 silently listen. They drink the shots of whiskey and finish their pints of beer. Main Principle 1– «I have always wondered about the origin of the word«punani»». Main Principle 2– «The high school I went to; the street it was located on, was called«a la na punani». It meant«the sweet flower». I always thought it was a Hawaiian term.» Main Principle 1– «It could be Swahili.» Main Principle 2– «Yeah, probably.» End Scene. 5 Stars!
