Despite of all the negative reviews I decided to visit RC salon and experience it for myself. I arrived about 10:00 and once prices were discussed I was told immediately to go to the back area for my wash. The lady who washed my hair took her time and made sure she combed through ever area of my hair by sectioning off. After my wash, I was placed under the drier with some rollers for about 15 mins. One of the stylist(Kenyana) came and got me to do my blow out and cut my hair into a bob since my hair was uneven. I have not had a perm in a few years but my hair was LAID like I had one and i received so many compliments. The hair dryer was hot but not hot enough to burn my scalp or have scabs after completion. The only reason why I rated the salon 4 stars is because of the prices are extremely high but I guess you do get what you pay for.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I went here on a Tuesday while visiting Atlanta and hadn’t let anyone touch my hair in about a year. I had a good wash and sat down thinking that the same lady would be doing my hair. But to my surprise a young guy came to the chair. I felt nervous but decided to be open minded. Well, I am sorry that I did because this guy had no idea what he was doing. He got my hair straight but it was the same way that my teenage boy who plays football would. It was very obvious that he had no training and absolutely no technique whatsoever!!! No parting and he used a small comb to blow my natural hair without combing it out first. My hair came out so ugly and on top of that it felt like he was pulling my hair out in the front with the flat iron that he was using. I kept saying ow but he didn’t get it. QUnfortunately he seemed surprised that I did not like my hair when he finished. The owner RC I’m sure could see how my hair was turning out and did nothing until I said something to him. He got it styled pretty good but my hair was very flat with no body. There was a ton of my hair on the floor and falling me and I was not experiencing breakage before that. I am natural and have been caring for my hair at home. RC said the broken stray hairs were could be due to the comb and that it would grow back. Again while RC was fixing my hair it felt like my hair was being pulled out. I told him but he continued with the same flat iron and said that it wasn’t being pulled out. Oh and the trim that I paid for well, needless to say, the young guy had no idea how to do that either. After a few days my hair was still very flat and the front looked as if I am balding. I have gaps when parting in the front even after I washed and reflatironed my hair. So just as I told them, they were pulling out my hair right where I felt it. I really hope that my hair grows back because I look like I have pattern baldness starting except I didn’t have this problem before I walked into that salon. My advise is don’t go here as your hair will suffer great damage because the owner will let just anyone do your hair. This is a show of no integrity at this salon and no care for a woman’s valuable trait of nice hair.

I went here to hget a blow out for my natural hair and the next day my hair was back puffy. So I tried to wash my hair and its like my hair isn’t the same no more. For the past couple of days my hair smell burnt and I am expiercimg hair falling out. That was seriously. a waste of 59 dollars. I could have got a sewin for that price

I’ve been to many a Dominican salons whilst living in Philly. Came down to Ga and went here, smh my hair was permanently damaged. I had to cut off over 4 inches of my beautiful natural hair. After going here twice, my thick mane became stringy towards the ends and started to break in certain areas more than others. Never again!

I knew I wouldn’t be back before my hair was finished… First, I had been referred to this salon by a few different people and those people all pointed me to Rommel. I even protested to one of those«recommenders» and said I was through w/Dominican salons because they are too harsh, use too my heat and my super thick hair is FLAT when I leave. They replied«oh, no! Rommel is good. He’s different.» I figured I’d give it a try. When I first walked in, I signed in and was given an info card to fill out(this is how the track the order the customer arrived, the services accumulated, etc.) I was escorted back to the wash bowl immediately. No issues w/this part of the visit. My first issue was that the woman who washed my hair used a FINE-TOOTHEDRATTAILCOMB to detangle my natural, thick, coarse hair. And to top it off, she combed from root to end. My next issue was with the styling. Rommel began blowdrying my hair and was very rough. I’ve had countless Dominican blowouts, so it’s not like I’m a newbie to the experience. With him… the heat, the burning, was unbearable. I had to snatch my head away & raise my hand to my head a few times as a reflex to my scalp being burned. That’s never happened to me. I’m not«tender-headed.» At this point in the process, I definitely made up my mind that I would never come back and I also would swear off Dominican salons. There’s no way your hair can receive this kind of treatment weekly/bi-weekly & have any!(I then notice that no one in the shop has thick or longer hair… Hmmm… wonder why…) The worst part? Days after my visit, I’m running my fingers along my scalp(which was sore for the day after the salon visit) and I feel SCABS. I knew I wasn’t crazy, he WAS burning my scalp. I’ve NEVER experienced that kind of pain w/a blowout. One of the larger scabs fell off along with a SMALLCHUNKOFMYHAIR! I was so terrified. Going up to the shop with the hair in my hand to demand a refund — $ 45 for a blowout, btw. Stay tuned for an update…

Went to RC as a walk in on a Saturday midday and didn’t wait long considering. I was taken back straight to the shampoo bowl and someone else did the roller set. Under the dryer I was kind of disappointed because they know how hot the dryers are but didn’t give me a towel to wrap around my ears so I ended up with a burn mark on the side of my face from the roller pin, ugh! Right after the dryer they took me right to chair to be styled. She blow dried my hair, flat ironed and styled it. I will say when I finally saw my hair I was truly impressed. Walking in the salon, my hair was past due for a perm… walking out it looked like I had a relaxer. I will say although the service wasn’t perfect I was highly impressed with the results.

I’ve gone to RC Dominican quite a few times and each time I go the experience gets worse. The shop is close to my home and takes walk ins which is why I kept going back. However the inconsistent service has gotten to be too much to handle. I’ve also noticed the price changes. The prices are posted but in an ambiguous way so you don’t know how much they are going to charge until you finish. This last time I asked about the prices upfront and got a completely different figure as I did the last time I was there. That was it for me. Due to the new popularity of the Dominican salons RC thinks they can get over on people… well not me. I will NOT be going back and will tell everyone I know about my experience.

I have been chair hopping for the last 3 months and finally decided to take my first field trip to a Dominican Salon. I must say it was a pleasurable one. The salon was clean, spacious, and they were all professional. I walked in to be greeted by Victor. He was not as friendly as I thought he could have been being the first one you see when walking in the door but whatever. Once I went to the back I was immediately taken to the bowl for a shampoo and deep conditioner. I did not get her name but she was wonderful and she did a great job. She kept saying, «You OK mommy?» After my shampoo, it was straight to the dryer and then back to be set then back to the dryer. My dryer stopped and it was right to the chair to be styled. Although I was reluctant, I asked the stylist trim my ends. She she did an excellent job. I was very pleased when I left. One thing I would like to forewarn you about is the hair dryer… that puppy is HOT. I will say, I don’t think my hair has ever been this straight and bouncy in years. No pain… no gain, I guess!!! See you in a few weeks RC Dominican.

First off I will say the place is really clean and nice looking, but that is the only thing nice I can say. I will not go there again. I’ve been going to the same Dominican shop(Sula) on and off for the past 4 years and I love the shop, the process, and the ladies that worked there. I do not live close to that shop anymore so I decided to try RC since I figured they were all the same. That isn’t the case for this place unless I just got a bad stylist. I won’t say her name because maybe she was just having a bad day and ready to go home! The process was dreadful! First of all she didn’t roll my hair. She said it was too short. I was like are you serious? My hair comes past my shoulders. Secondly, she burned my scalp at least twice(with the dryer not the flat irons). It was like she just kept laying the dryer on my scalp. I know the dryer can be hot but I’ve never had a problem with the dryer in the past. Then she burned my ear with the flat irons. I’m like can you get any closer and can you continue to burn me. I wanted to get up and leave, but I decided to stay. The extra charge on my credit card didn’t bother me because Sula does the same thing. My hair was a mess after 2 days when it normally last about 2 weeks. I just know next time not to try anyone else new, and just drive the distance back to the normal shop when I want my hair pressed. I guess I’ll be nice and give them an extra star since I wasn’t there long. After reading the other reviews, maybe I should have tried Rommel! I wish I would have read them first.

This was a terrible experience, I’ll never go to this salon again. I went this evening around 5:30pm and initially requested a wash and style, nails, toes, and eyebrows. The nail technician that did my toes and eyebrows was nice, but the hairstylist was awful. My hair had previously been styled using foam and light gel, so it was not easy to comb. Instead of wetting and washing my hair before trying to comb through it(as any normal stylist would), the stylist put some conditioner on my hair with no water and tried to comb through it without washing out the foam and gel first. Needless to say, it was painful and I could feel her pulling out my hair. I politely asked her to wet and shampoo my hair before trying to comb through it, but she pretended not to know English. I asked another male stylist to translate for her, and he responded that she was trying to comb it because it was tangled. I explained that I had no problem with my hair being combed, but that the gel needed to be shampooed out first. The stylist continued to comb and so I told her for the third time to stop trying to comb my hair without shampooing it. This time she got an attitude and walked away, leaving me in the shampoo bowl, presumably for some other stylist to finish my hair. I was extremely angry at this point and actually got up to leave the salon(with my hair still dry but now matted and covered in conditioner), but the male stylist convinced me to stay and allow someone else to finish my hair. The second stylist shampooed my hair first as I requested, and then combed through it with no problems. However, while she was shampooing, a few of the stylist made jokes with eachother in Spanish at my expense, assuming that I did not know how to understand Spanish. And after all this, the cashier actually asked me if I wanted to tip! Overall this was a terrible experience and I would not recommend anyone spending their money in this place. I certainly won’t.

I discovered this salon last year after I decided to «quit» my long time hair stylist because of excessive wait times despite scheduled appointments. If you’re anything like me, then you don’t have time to be sitting in a salon looking crazy while the stylists eat, pick up their children, or yap with folks as they come in. None of that here ladies/gents. They’re professional, the salon is clean and they do a great job straightening hair! I used to have a relaxer, but I’ve been natural for over a year and you’d never know it when I leave their shop. There are no appointments… first come, first serve! My only beef is that the owner will usually charge you an additional fee if you want to use your debit card as a credit card – I was able to get out of the charge since they didn’t have anything posted stating that… but besides that… it’s worth the trip and the extra fee :)

Definitely enjoyed my trip to RC Dominican Salon. I walked in on a Sunday afternoon and had a minimal wait before I was asked wait I wanted done for the day. The shop was spacious and clean, with a nail salon on the other side. It was way more well kept than some other«salons» I have been to, and there were no kids running around and screaming. Nice and peaceful for a Sunday afternoon. Nancy, one of the shampooers, gave me the best head scrub I ever had in my life! My scalp felt squeaky clean once I got out of her chair. The stylist who took care of me, Rommel, was great. He asked me what I wanted done and was very nice. I got a wash & set w/a deep conditioner, blowout and trim all for $ 45. He did a great job and I was up and on with the rest of my day in no time :) I would definitely recommend this salon and will return to get my hair done.

I’ve tried 3 dominican salons around Atlanta over the years and this one is the best. If you know what to expect out of one, yes the dryers are hot, but the people who work there are great stylists as well. This week I got the best haircut I’ve had in years! The salon itself is decent, they are fast, and their clientele seems to be growing quickly. They also added a nail salon which I haven’t tried yet but will soon. The prices are good and they have specials throughout the week.
