Travel nurse Lynn is awesome! I love her office since theres so much to look at! Shes very friendly and informative. We were going to Mexico to visit my inlaws and needed to get shots prior to the trip. She was very nice and informative and made sure we were safe. We will always request for her for our travel needs.

No wait. Friendly staff. Great service! I came in to see the travel nurse in order to prep for my upcoming trip to UAE and Egypt. I was in line for about a minute before being registered, and sat down for maybe 5 before seeing the nurse. Sweet! The travel nurse Lynn asked me questions about my trip, and gave me the breakdown on what vaccinations were recommended, as well as what types of things to look out for. She even had pictures of things like sand flies that could give me dengue fever, and recommended bug repellent lotion to use. Oddly enough, Lynn told me the only travelling she does is up and down Hesperian. Lynn also administered a hep a/b shot, and put in a request to my regular doctor for a typhoid vaccine, which comes in pill form. I was in Lynn’s office for about a half hour. It was a good informative experience. I’d recommend making an appointment here before going on any big trips.

At this very moment, I have Yellow Fever. No, I’m not talking about the condition where you are only attracted to Asian people… I mean yellow jack, vomito negro, American Plague. And the funny thing is that I *asked* for it. Now don’t rush to call the WHO on me, I just got vaccinated for it at the Kaiser travel center. They have to give you a small dose of the live virus and you are left with a slight fever and nausea for a few days. The 2 travel nurses there are extremely helpful and print out all the heath info you need for whatever country you’re visiting. FYI: you need a vaccination certificate for entry to many countries(the trusty Yellow Book), particularly for Asia from Africa or South America, check with before you go . I’ve been going to these same 2 nurses for the past 7 years. They have gentle hands and calm me down before each needle prick no matter how much I’ve gotten used to having it stuck in me multiple times in one sitting(ok, I don’t think that came our right) I also find their large turtle figurine collection and picture of Jesus on the wall eerily comforting. The only weird thing is that one of the nurses constantly warns me about AIDS… IE: «You shouldn’t swim in fresh water because of Dengue fever… 70% of sex workers have AIDS… blah blah blah… AIDS… blah blah 7⁄10 prostitutes there have AIDS… blah blah blah AIDS… so watch out for sex workers, they have AIDS» I swear to sweet baby James, she mentioned sex workers and AIDS about 9 times. Yeah lady, I’m going to Africa to procure sexual favors from street walkers. Is that what I really look like? But still, their services are priceless. Now I have Yellow Fever, I can’t get out of bed, a black saucer sized bruise on my arm and my Malaria tablets cause horrible night terrors as a side effect. w00t w00t. I am ready to roll…
