Anyone who’s read my reviews knows that I really value good service. I’ll forgive a lot of small innocent mistakes, but I don’t forgive indifference or rudeness. This place just opened up a few blocks from my house, and I’ve been waiting to try it. Hubby and I stopped by this afternoon, and saw that it was open so we went inside. It’s a big, bright open space, and it looks pretty cool. The location is perfect, right next to a sports clinic and the Union City High School. We were greeted as soon as we entered, which was nice. That’s where it ends. There were 3 people at one table, two people piling on toppings, one lady waiting to get served. Four staff behind the counter, including a gentleman that appeared to be in charge, based on his street clothes rather than a uniform and a clipboard in his hands. We asked him«how does this work» and he looked at us, then started talking to an employee. It wasn’t clear that he’d heard us, or realized that we were talking to him, although he did look up, make eye contact, then look away. Normal visual cues that say«yup, i see you there asking me something». We stood around for a few minutes waiting for someone to help us, watching the manager talking to an employee. I assumed he was saying«hey, go serve that couple, they asked me something», but no… who knows what he was saying, but that’s it — I’m not hanging around a place that either doesn’t want our business, or care enough to say — can you give me a sec, we just opened, we’ll be right with you. We walked out, got into our car and I looked back to see the gentleman watching me from the window. I shrugged my shoulders in what I hope was sending a message«too bad». I’ll go back again in a few months after they’ve gotten into a rhythm, but if that’s how they are starting out, I’m not feeling very good about this…
