Checked out the Fiddler’s Grove Festival this weekend, and it was a little piece of heaven. Super-laid back live music in a gorgeous setting, with friendly folks who seem to have kept this festival going as a kind of family tradition for generations. A little super-wholesome and perhaps heavy on the religious tunes for those who are not so inclined, and there is no alcohol served or allowed at this event, but the music was all top-notch. The weekend events include workshops and fiddling competitions in addition to more traditional performances, so check out the schedule on their website beforehand. Wonderful place to while away a few summer hours in the sun while listening to some high-quality down-home country, bluegrass and folk music from bands that resemble today’s incarnation of the Carter family, if you can imagine.
