The wonderful Pine Garth Inn(B&B overlooking the lake) is now closed. The guest cottages across the road have been sold and are now using the Pine Garth Inn website. The cottages do not overlook the lake and do not serve breakfast.

I am in love with JJ’s Last Resort, the cottage I stayed in. Hot tub, fire place, comfiest beds, screened in porch, private beach. HOLYDREAMHOUSE, Batman! I stayed for two nights and one full day last week and I have found a new location love. I can only speak for the cottage, JJ’s Last Resort. It has two bedrooms with super comfortable mattresses and pillows and soft sheets. The kitchen is stocked with all the dishware you need. The screened in porch has comfortable wicker furniture with pillows. The living room has a TV with both DVD and VHS(and a library of VHS) and a fireplace you can only use Duraflame logs in(which you can buy at the front desk for $ 5). The hot tub is in its own fenced in enclosure off one bedroom. You can walk across the street to your own private path to your own private sugar sand beach. Hardly anyone else was there and we had bonfires during the sunset(amazing) on both nights we stayed. The staff was fine we only interacted with them during check in and out and once when the cleaning woman asked if we wanted new towels. The town is small but we found a great pizza place and a grocery store so we did just fine. They are trying to sell both the Inn and the cottages so who knows how much longer this place is going to last. Private. Cozy. Gorgeous. Fun. Relaxing. Perfect.

Hello, My family & I stayed at Pine Garth Inn for 3 days this summer. We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom cottages. Cottage was very clean. It did not need updating. Kitchen had all the supplies you would need for cooking. Bedrooms were a little small but comfortable. They supplied a BBQ grill & our own private hot tub. Which it was too warm out to go into it. The cottage is across the street from the Pine Garth B & B, which the B & B is located right on Lake Michigan. From the cottage there is a decent walk to the beach. Beach is private & very clean. Resort supplies several lawn chairs. We will be back but will try the B & B next time.

Union Pier is one of my favorite spots for a weekend getaway. Less than 90 minutes from Chicago, it has good restaurants, nature walks and a beach that is perfect for strolling even if the weather isn’t conducive to swimming. On aforementioned strolls we have passed the Pine Garth Inn, and wondered how it would feel to have a room overlooking the lake. Of course, you do pay a premium for it, but heck, it was our 20th anniversary and that deserves going all out. In a remarkable feat of prescience, the hubby reserved the room with the fireplace. The weather was unseasonably cold and damp, so it definitely came in handy. We required the assistance of the nice lady at the front desk to turn on the gas on more than one occasion. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful, and the host put out wine and snacks in the late afternoon. Next time I would pick a room on the second floor for better views and more privacy. Hope there is a next time soon! Did you know that a «Garth» is an enclosed yard? Party on, Garth.
