I used to harbor fright when it came to tools, but Harbor Freight Tools changed that. No, I’m only kidding. I wasn’t ever really scared of tools, although I did wonder about the quality of an inexpensive MacPherson strut spring compressor, and whether it would fail and remove my face in a split second.(Reviews of that particular model seem split, depending upon the weight class of the spring being compressed. Driving a station wagon, I would probably not buy that particular model.) Some of the tools are ridiculously cheap, which in my book also makes them somewhat suspect, but the sheer variety of their offerings and the good deals are tempting. I signed up for coupons, so $ 3 off mechanic’s gloves are what lured me here the last time I visited. Shop towels, disposable gloves and socket rails also made me buy them. However, the only tool I bought was a small pry bar for auto work. That’s not to say I wouldn’t try them(the watchmaking tools were a neat find, for instance) but I’d steer toward those tools whose catastrophic failures won’t make mincemeat out of me or an orphan out of my chlldren. Know what you’re doing, understand what you’re buying and never buy the cheapest tool available if your work is potentially dangerous. Other than that, go nuts. And, as always, caveat emptor.

Absolutely awful service from Natasha, the manager. There was no staff on the sales floor to help with anything. When I got to the register there was a huge line and only 1 cashier. Natasha just stood there looking at her phone nearby, which is clearly more important than helping customers. She must be too good to open a second register and help!

In the auto enthusiast world this place is know for low quality cheap tools, but thats ok for some prjects, that is no excuse for the lack luster customer service. There is usually one cashier whom cant help people on the floor and the manager natasha who it appears is to important to help customers or work. Shame.

The manager Natasha is a poor manager. As I was awaiting checkout she insisted on only relieving the one register open by only allowing the next customer in line at her register. This caused incredible confusion as people lined up at her register and she rudely instructed them that she was only taking the next customer in line at register one where these customers needed to relocate to. Many customers were confused and ended up standing in between the two registers not knowing what to do as this is a very untraditional method to relieve a single cashier overwhelmed by customers. Moreover, not much can be said for her customer service other than she is completely disengaged. This made conversations difficult and frustrated many people. It’s clear to see that she doesn’t enjoy working here and doesn’t help morale with her poor attitude. Glad I’m not working there!

The absolute worst customer service!!! Nasty rude«manager» did nothing to help solve our problem with there product. All she seemed to be interested in was her phone! If there staff was different me and my husband would be there on a daily basis.

I’ve been to this store quite a few times. I’ve found many useful items, some tools and other things. The free gifts with the coupon have been really good items-flashlights, scissors, tape measure etc. Yes some of the tools may not be top quality, but for my purpose around the house, they get the job done. I really like their solar lights… inexpensive but they work better than the ones I purchased at Lowe’s. It is well worth a trip to see what you can find.

I’ve been interested in stopping by Harbor Freight for some time, and finally did this afternoon. Their circulars always advertise a lot of disposable-grade hardware, tools and auto items. Occupying the old Office Max space, Harbor Freight is huge and very well stocked with a wide variety of well-known items. The store is clean and assistance isn’t hard to find. The appeal of Harbor Freight is in its pricing. Their specials are almost ridiculously low: a box of 30 dusk masks for $ 3, hard knee pads for $ 2… You won’t find very many familiar brand names here. Most items are from companies named either Chicago or Pittsburgh. Quality-for-quality items, where there is little room for cheap production(100′ extension cords, for example), prices are comparable to Home Depot. The majority of items here are below HD in both quality and price. I was very careful to not select anything which might be used in a job-critical application or where safety might be a question, focusing on items which I don’t intend to use frequently. On that basis, the $ 85 spent brought home several bags of items; I’m quite pleased. Don’t expect frills in these items. In fact, the 12 piece deep-walled 3/8″ socket set for which I paid $ 9.99(«Pro» Grade, others are cheaper) took 10 minutes of work with a pair of tin snips to separate from its packaging. They work fine. Unless I become much more comfortable with their grade of merchandise, I don’t expect to be doing anything more than browsing the huge selection of power tools, pumps, generators and compressors. Yet, on the basis of what I picked-up today, I’ll be back in the future.
