Run by the same group of Mennonites as have the Cheese N More store across the road, this bakery sells tasty, traditional, West Virginia breads and sweets. The space is small – the area you enter where they actually sell their wares is quite compact and really is just a few shelves full of whatever is ready to sell and the window where you pay. The staff is as polite and nice as you’d expect from a group of Mennonite ladies but it’s really the exceptional quality of the food which will bring you back again and again. Some of their products I found unimpressive(salt rising bread, apple dumplings, most cookies), however, their sourdough bread in general is very good. The cinnamon rolls are quite good too though not as good those at the Korner Kafe in Union and where Kitchen Creek really shines is their pies, especially the Chocolate Pie, Butterscotch Pie, and Lemon Pie. The Coconut Pie is ok, but not as good as these others. All in all a very nice shop with some very yummy baked goods.

this fantastic bakery is run by the menonites in conjunction with the cheese n’ more directly across the street. the building is a tiny little store front that can comfortabley fit maybe 3 people and the remainder is actually the bakery itself, which you can watch them make the tasty foodstuffs through the order window. this place quite simply makes the best sourdough bread i’ve ever had in my life. i crave the stuff during the winter months. toasted with just a slathering of the homemade butter and jam from the area and i am in breakfast(or sometimes dinner) heaven. the wheat bread is also amazing. and at around $ 3.50 a loaf it’s really cheap. and freezable as i always buy way too many loaves and need to store some. friends of mine are insane over the pepperoni rolls. but then again so is most of the county as every time i go in there to pick up some for friends i have to wait for a new batch to come out of the oven. i’m serious. i’ve even had to get in line before when they were coming out of the oven and there wasn’t even time for them to be cool enough to put into the bag before the entire batch was gone. the cookies and the homemade pies always look amazing. if you find yourself out there be sure to go and enjoy yourself. you’ll definately want to go back once you get to try everything.
