Magic Fountain

this is what you’re going to do, lisa. go melt a pint of chocolate ice cream. good. now, freeze a gallon of coke. put two scoops of that in the melted chocolate and, for the love of god, give it to me. what. what do you mean? no. goddamnit lisa i dont want to speak to your manager i just want a reverse root beer float feat. coca-​cola is that so frucking hard

Couldn’t hope for a better, more authentic ice cream, yogurt, custard, cake experience anywhere. Marvelous accommodating counter staff, wonderful family business that is a true treat and hughly recommened all the way around.

Been meaning to try this place for a while, and it was well worth it. The woman who served us was so very patient, we asked her a million questions and she answered every one. She told us her dad made the ice cream himself, right in the store! The ice cream is superb, will definitely be back.

While visiting Union, one of my friends suggested that we try this ice cream place down the street. Low and behold, I found myself going into a establishment called Magic Fountain. Interesting name.
Magic Fountain is a family run ice cream in a prime location in Union, NJ. The parking is located in the back and can be a bit crowded but there are parking spots to be found and street parking if necessary.
Once you walk in, there is that immediate feel of local hospitality. The ice cream flavors are hand crafted to the top wall and a pleasant woman (who I believe must have been one of the owners) along with her staff greeted us. The inside of the place is nothing special, but the ice cream more than makes up for it. I asked for a small mint chocolate chip cone and the portion size was great. I don’t think she could have added another scoop without the ice cream tumbling over.
WARNING: This place is CASH ONLY. Don’t forget. Also, one of my friends mentioned that the yogurt choices were a bit limited so keep that in mind.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I’m a big fan of local restaurants. Whenever I can spread the word about establishments that appear to not get enough credit, I try my best to get their voices heard. In my opinion, Magic Fountain is a great place to satisfy your dessert needs. The staff/​owner were very friendly, they didn’t short change on the ice cream, and I would definitely come back again. Give this place a try!

I have been coming here since I was in diapers. The owner is very personable and will still recognize me sometimes, even when I haven’t been there in years. It’s in a great location, they have great prices and great ice cream (at least a dozen flavors). Parking in the back is a little tight sometimes because there are other businesses, but nothing they can do about that. Bottom line: it’s a great place to bring anyone who is craving desert.
Oh, be advised, they only take cash.
