We LOVE Smash Burger and usually go to the restaurant in New Providence NJ, but today we were pressed for time.
Just remembered why we don’t frequent this particular location, even though it is our local one.
Place is not full, when we came in there were 3 tables being used out of the many they have. Plenty of staff, but they move as if they were about to fall asleep… Place is dirty and several tables were dirty although they were empty already when we came in.
Our table was picked up but left dirty, I had to clean it myself as the manager walked by and didn’t even give it a second look.
Both NJ burgers came with no blue cheese… They claim it was melted under the onion rings…

I have frequented quite a few Smashburgers some have been great such as Florham Park & Menlo Park and some have been not so good such as Clark. I was excited when Smashburger opened in my own town. While I wished it was in our downtown, I can live with it being on Route 22. With that being said it’s hard to imagine a highway burger joint getting 5 stars. But this Smashburger deserves it. Every time I go there the place is always clean and the staff is always friendly. The taste of Smashburger basically sells its self but its the cleanliness and staff that help me choose which one to visit. I highly recommend visiting this location.

Tried smashburger for the first time today, I was excited to eat a burger after 2 years of going gluten free. Staff was very friendly and helpful, ordered everything to try: the bacon cheeseburger, regular fries and a strawberry milkshake. The best part was really the burger. Nothing to complain about there. The fries and shake I probably wont order again, just because there’s nothing special about it (not to mention my meal almost cost $ 15!). I’ll definitely come back for the burger when I’m craving it, and I still want to try the sweet potato fries.

Crew ‘Courtney’ is really rude. She was in a hurry to take our order. It was my family’s first time here and were not sure what to get. Started ordering but when I asked her if there was combo she said you should have told me that. So I said, shouldnt you be giving us the guidance? Not coming back here anymore. Didnt even eat my order because after she took my order she went into the kitchen and other crew started looking at us. Very rude, should not be working in customer-​facing job. Manners please!

Disappointing. I did try it twice just to be fair, with the same results. The Staff was great, polite, friendly and quick. The place is super clean. I ordered a black bean burger and pickle chips, the burger was just that, a black bean paste shaped into a burger. I mean, it is what it said it was but it was so high in sodium I ended up removing half the patty. The pickle chips were beyond salty. I don’t know if salt is added after they are fried. So I really wanted to like this place, I tried the cobb salad and veggie frites, same results. So much salt on the veggies, and not a healthy choice at all, green beans and carrots dipped in oil and fried smothered in salt. Cobb salad was eh, fried egg in it instead of usual hard boiled. I think I will pass on a third try.

Tried both locations Lower Manhattan and Union and not too impressed or nothing special. Manhattan location was overpriced and nothing special. Union location was not organized, order was wrong, food was over cooked, and fries are your standard shoestring variety (Mickey D’s fries are even better). Both locations are clean and well-​presented but food is just okay. Too many topping choices make the burger sloppy and hard to handle in my opinion. Five Guys or Shake Shack are better choices.

I’ve been here at least 3 times already. Always good! Food is always fresh and the staff are very friendly. They always check us if everything is okay in the table. Its basically a fast food chain with service. Cant wait for my next visit and this place is deserved 5 stars from me!

Visited this location for the first time for a take out on a Friday night. My first experience w/​Smashburger was at Route 10, East Hanover, which was a five star for me.
Atmosphere/​Location:
Place is smaller in this store, maybe half size smaller than in Route 10
Looks like a regular fast-​food chain, Route 10 has more character.
Parking is good
Employees are friendly, fast service.
Food:
I cannot find the special burgers that I had at Route 10, but I had SPICY JALAPENO BAJA burger w/​seeet potato fries. It’s very good and tasty, way better than other fast food chain burger shops. I prefer my bun toasted or placed on a grill for a couple of minutes.
I will return for a quick bite coz this is close to my house but I will not be a regular customer. I will recommend their burgers vs other fast food chain burger shops around the area.

i’ve eaten smashburger at other locations and loved it. this is purely for the new burger i tried. i had the avocado club burger. pure goodness! 2 of my fav things in one place! not to mention bacon :) i also tried their onion strings and those were good too. but i have noticed with the fried pickles and the onions the breading is salty. i love it but maybe in moderation. u def. need water lol. i also had their regular french fries which is always a good choice.

This is meant for upper management.
We’ve been driving by on 22 West for a while now. Only recently have they hung a small neon sign that says Open.
The solid beige wall coloring makes the place look like it has brown paper covering the windows as you glance over in traffic. Still under construction? No. But, the main sign is not lit, at 8pm. See the pic. You can’t see any tables, chairs, cooking, activity nor signs of life.
So we walk in the rear entrance. And then, we’re forced to walk out the front entrance and back in again to get in line. Odd layout, very odd.
An interesting menu but we felt everything was over seasoned. The «big» patty could use more meat. It’s less than a 2 ounce difference from the regular.
Every pro chef says to leave burgers alone and do not smash them, as they get dry.

I’ve been waiting for a while for this place to open! Today was my first to try Smashburger.
Food: I had 2 burgers today, Mushrooms Smashburger and New Jersey Smashburger, it was very good juicy and tender. My favorite is Mushrooms burger and the sweet potato fries. Next time i want to try their salad, it looks good in big bowl serving. Im giving 5 star rate for the food.
Service: Is very good, literary every 5 minutes they have staff checking our table if everything is okay. All the staff are very polite and friendly. This is basically fast food with great service! Im giving 5 Star for the service.
Cleanliness: Brand new place everything is clean! Im hoping they can kept this place looks brand new everyday!
This place deserved 5 stars review from me.
