The Owner was personable and enthusiastic about his wines and his guests. Very down to earth and eclectic in nature. The winery itself was gorgeous. The tasting room is down the side of the house and in the back. There are chairs to sit with a glass of wine afterwards and enjoy the scenery. The wines are unique and quite delicious. They even make a Rhubarb wine. All of the ingredients are grown in Maine. He grows most of them on the vineyard or orders from local farmers. It is all made on site. It was definitely worth the trip from the Unity common-ground Fair. Wines were more appealing to the sweet wine lovers in my group.

I visited this winery during a family adventure on the Maine wine trail. Clem was absolutely engaging and entertaining. He was a wonderful host, who gave an excellent tour. He show us and talked to us about every stage of the wine making process from growing the grapes to bottling. We had the pleasure of sampling each of his wines. He makes a very unique pumpkin pie flavored wine, using homemade pumpkin purée and spices called pie-eyed. My favorite wine there was The Palmer Sisters. It was an exciting and complex elderberry wine, aged in oak. Some of the wines are available at local retailers, but stop by for the experience of meeting the inventor.

I live in CT, but was visiting for the weekend and couldn’t pass up the chance to hit a Maine vineyard. Clem was very passionate about what he does and it clearly shows. The wines are unique and you will definitely find a bottle or two to take home. My fav was the pumpkin — great fall wine — perfect for when the season will start to change!
