Fantastic burgers but be patient. Every time that I’ve been, it’s crazy busy. Well worth the wait.

Chester’s has been consistently churning out fantastic burgers for years. I recommend the bacon cheeseburger with jalapenos. Ignore the very few«low star» reviews here on this Unilocal page. They probably give Wendy’s a 5 star review and obviously do not know a good burger. Check out Chester’s if you’re ever near Universal City!

I tried the best burger in town today and it lived up to its reputation. I had the green chili cheeseburger which was great and the fries were just as good. Next time I am near Joint Base San Antonio — Randolph, I will definitely be back.

I’ve eaten here a few times and I have no idea who is voting them«Best burger in town» because it’s just not. The ordering system is so ancient; you wait in one line forever, someone hand writes your order and then you pay someone else. Places that refuse to upgrade their systems for the sake of remaining«old fashioned» frustrate me. While waiting for a to go order one day, I watched their kitchen in action and was thoroughly disgusted. The staff wear gloves but gloves don’t do any good when they touch EVERYTHING and then touch the food with the same pair of gloves. Food sits on a bare prep station and occasionally someone wiped it down with a towel that was reused again and again. I really have no idea how this place passes inspections. Go somewhere else for a better burger and cleaner place to eat.

These burgers are some of the best I’ve had. They’re pretty big, but I always finish the entire thing because they’re so juicy and good(which says a lot because I eat relatively small meals). The poppyseed buns pair well, too. The place is a little outdated on the inside, but I suppose that gives it some character.

First time here burger was great. Bigger then I thought worth the money. Only thing missing was a little more sauce on the burger

Chester’s boldly advertises themselves as «THEBESTBURGERINTOWNANDTHESTATE». That’s quite the statement if you ask me. While working in Universal City my coworkers and I got curious so we dropped in to give it a try. Chester’s is pretty straight forward; you walk in and fall in line immediately, order, they call your name, and done. Wham bam thank you ma’am! I have to point out that the onion rings here are the best. I don’t even like onion rings to be quite honest but I tried one of my coworkers and ended up ordering them the second time we came back. Yes, there was a second time! The burgers here are HUGE and juicy. I’m a classic gal so I stuck to the good ol’ cheeseburger. It’s quite filling and could easily be split between two people if you ask me. Kudos to Chester’s for living up to the hype! I dinged them a star because the place feels quite unsanitary and dirty as it is a hole in the wall.

This place is pretty cool. I go here for lunch during the week sometimes, and boy do I leave stuffed! The burgers are big and tasty. I recommend the chili and cheese burger! The fries are hand cut and awesome. I dig the wings too! Good especially for a burger joint. Wait times are never a problem and the staff always seems up beat. Check it out if you’re in Universal anytime soon.

They advertise as being the best burger in San Antonio and they back up their statement. Their Green Chili Cheeseburger was very good and their fries came out hot and fresh. I had zero complaints with my meal!

I love this place it is a true gem. I brought my mom and step dad here from Arizona. I love the theme that it brings the license plates on the wall. The service was very welcoming, there was a selection of beers. The burgers are pretty good and the fries are crunchy just how I like them. The food area, is very visible so you can see your food being made on the girll. The area is very clean, and very welcoming. Love the staff.

It was great. The people there are so friendly and the food was good. Found another good place to eat lol. The owner was showing kids the Halloween decorations that were painted on Windows.

We have been to this location more times than I can count, have been since 1995 when I was assigned to Randolph AFB. My favorite is the Green Chili Cheese Burger with onion rings. They have the largest selection of beer that I have ever seen. Their chili is good but if you don’t like onion, don’t order it. We asked specifically if there were onions in it and were told ‘No.’. When we got home, my husband found raw onion in his 2nd or 3rd spoonful. Only other think to be aware of is if you get the GCCB to go, make sure the green chili container has been placed in the bag. :)

Best Burgers we have had so far here in Texas! Great service, atmosphere is inviting and warm, wide selection of local and domestic beers, and, of course, great food. My husband and I ate burgers and shared fries and a beer for less than 15 dollars. We will definitely return!

Great burgers and fries. Love the ambiance and the laid back atmosphere. People at the counter are very friendly and the tables where you sit are not wobbly, stable and very big(one of by biggest pet peeves when eating out are unstable booths and tables without adequate room.). Great place with great service and prices. A must go!

There is no other way to put this. This is the best burger I’ve ever had. I can’t begin to explain how perfect this burger is. It makes the world a better place. Maybe that works. I will go to Chesters every time I am in San Antonio. No doubt about it. That’s my word and I’m sticking to it.

It was Father’s day, and I had made a huge mistake. When my son asked me what I wanted for it. I dismissed him slyly. And so here I sat, on father’s Day, in San Antonio, alone, two blocks away from the apartment that I lived in when he was fresh from the hospital. Back then I was incredibly poor. So eating out was a barely ventured luxury. I sat there holding back tears because in two months he leaves to college. I sat there in a place that I would put him in a high chair, and know that he would have preferred the cheeseburger I’m eating. As opposed to the bland formula that he had to drink from a bottle. There I sat, alone, tired, and listless. Then, things came flooding back. I got my burger and all the good memories that came with it. I remebered that when you ordered fries, even though the basket looked small, they always gave you a ton of them. I used to blow on them till they cooled down, mash them up, and give them to him with a baby spoon. I remebered how big the burgers were. Since I was poor I could eat half the burger for dinner, then haul the other half to work the next day for lunch. I also remembered how little I used to drink back then. And that Chester’s always carried local beers, as well as the brand name ones. I got happier. Realizing how far I had come. And that for brief shining moments in time, you can go home again. You can be young again. You are not losing anything, because your favorites are always there. You just have to drive a little farther.

I really had a good overall first experience eating at Chester’s. Service was quick and I was surprised at how fast I received my order being that it was crowded inside. I enjoyed every bite of my nicely crafted bacon cheese burger, fries, onion rings, and hot wings.

This particular Chesters has been a family tradition since I can remember. The cheeseburger. Oh the sweet, simple cheeseburger on a poppyseed bun with everything on it. I may be biased but this tops my burger list. The onion rings are also a favorite. I also occasionally go through health freak phases. The burger without the bun is even delicious and the salad is one size(massive). Great beer selection and a casual spot to get some seriously satisfying good olé American food. This burger chain in San Antonio is worth finding fa sho.

I have never been to a Chester’s before. My husband wanted to go another time but they were closing in 30 min. So I decided to take him out for a birthday lunch. Walked in to a closed in patio aera. I was a little lost but continued to another door. It was so dark inside. There was a maze to get to the order area. Everything is ala cart. Build your own com o plate. So I ordered chichen wings, onion rings, fries and a salad. My husband ordered a hamburger. The chicken wings were said mild… that was not mild it was more of a medium. The onion rings were actually perfectly made. Didn’t taste greasy at all. The fresh cut fries were great. I had one fry and my husband skarfed the rest down. I did get a bite of his burger. The bun was great. The meat tasted so fresh. The Salas was more than I can eat. It was enough for 2 people. We need up talking home the wings and salad. Star rating… 1 star for food 1 start for the amazing cashier that took out order and his pacients because we were Chester virgins. 1 star for over all. 0 stars for rest rooms because I didn’t visit them. 0 stars for facilities… it was too dark inside.
