This is such a cute little place! Variety of fruits of veggies are pretty limited but they all looked super good and fresh. I bought a canary yellow melon, avocado, 2 grapefruit for $.98 ea, 5 oranges for $ 1, and a little bear of local honey for $ 4.98(I think). I didn’t see prices up for the melon or avocados but I managed to only pay $ 11 total. I’m super happy with how sweet and juicy my melon was. All the ones they had on the shelves were perfectly ripe. I also tried some of the local honey. It was a bit grainy in texture and slightly more tart but yummy honey none the less. I’m trying to incorporate more fruits and veggies into my diet since I’m aiming towards being a full vegetarian so I’m definitely coming back to this place for more local produce.

This farmers market is a little small but has a good selection of products to choose from. Our family had a good shopping experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful. While we was shopping my boys was given a free apple to snack on and a bag of fruit. We spent $ 30 on apples, pears, pineapple, watermelon, cabbage, lettuce, squash, okra, onions, bell peppers, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, zucchini, and ginger. I can’t wait til the fresh beans and peas come. I really appreciate that the staff give us much love every time we come to shop.

I guess last time I came here was out of season. I went in today and they were full of wonderful fresh produce. My husband and I ended spending $ 30. You can be apart of their co op each week they will pre bag produce for $ 25 or $ 40. It is worth it. I will be back. Check out their Facebook page to see what are the specials for the week.

Tucked way back in the very corner of a nondescript shopping center, Straight From the Crate is the epitome of «hidden gem». It’s my go-to joint for eggs(local, free range $ 4 dozens)(disregard container expiation dates — they recycle them, and totally welcome/encourage customers bringing back their empties for re-use… love that! !) And also for honey(also local — mainly from Youngblood’s in Pearsall — available in sizes up to a gallon, and *super* inexpensive) I always end up leaving with some unexpected delicious fruit or veggie treat. And cheese(that’s kinda to be expected at this point in my life though. Eff veganism… cheese is just too dang good!). And amazing locally crafted goat milk soap. And and and… I really need to start just bringing a bigger shopping bag — who am I kidding, I’m *never* walking out of Crate with *just* eggs and honey! They have a co-op style preorder box available weekly now(check Facebook for details) and a frequent shopper card(free gift with your first purchase, a discount after 10 visits) 117% worth popping in before dealing with the internationally-sourced, higher priced fare at HEB.

What a nice lil shop located on Pat Booker in Universal City. They have farm fresh produce. Everything is brightly colored & taste great. The store is filled with a variety of veggies & fruits. They do have a Facebook page which is awesome. On their FB page they will tell you what they’ll have for pick up. Pick up is like a co-op, where they list the produce they’re selling for pickup in store twice a week. They have a small & large bag. The small bag is $ 25& large is $ 40. We’re a family of 5 so we get the large bag. The large bag is filled with local farm produce they listed that week. When you go to pickup your bag(large) it’s in a cute Straight From The Crate black reusable bag. Just bring the bag back on your next pick up. On FB when they list what is for pickup you can comment & say you want that pickup & specify large or small bag. Easy & simple way to buy your local farm produce.

We can’t get enough of Straight from the Crate. At least once a week we will stop in to get fresh produce and to see what goodies they have in stock. Can’t say enough about this little gem for Universal City!

This place deserves 10 stars! I hope this they will be around for a long time. I never know what I am going to find and I have never had anything bad. My favorites– avocados that are smooth like butter, white patty squash when in season, multi– colored carrots, free range eggs, fruit already cut up, lots of other yummy surprises. I love this place. During a recent visit, I was carrying multiple bags out to my car, the owner was driving up– rolled down his window and said«thank you for your business»! How cool is that? I spend my money somewhere and the owner actually appreciates it. Great produce, great customer service.

Super friendly staff and decent selection. I had a bit of a hard time finding them as they have no «Straight From the Crate» signage other than the door to the store. I drove by three times before I found it. But, it was worth it. It’s nice to find a farmers market with weekday hours and indoors. I hate we are moving soon and I only just found this great place!

I found this little place on Pat Booker Road. I was in need of a few veggies for dinner on the way home and did not want to stop and get food at a big grocery store. I stopped in and they had a ton of choices and they gave me 7 free tomatoes because it was my first trip there. The veggies were amazing, I will be going back!

I really like this place. Their tomatoes, limes and lemons were juicy and delicious. They have a decent selection of veggies and fruits. Can’t wait to try them all. Prices are GREAT. 6 lemons, 4 limes, and 3 tomatoes = $ 4.00 Wish they had one closer to my house. I’d be there every other day.

For farm fresh produce this place is heaven. Strictly whatever is in season and locally grown when available. Marfa tomatoes, watermelons, great selection of mushrooms, bell pepper, sweet onion, farm fresh eggs, etc. I bought a huge bag of all different types of items and my total was only $ 14, so extremely affordable for this level of quality. Even though this is a drive for me it’s worth it and I can’t wait for the apricots to come in the summer.

The owners are knowledgable about all of their produce and they can give you recipe ideas on how to cook purple cabbage or crowder peas… Fresh food reasonable prices. Straight from the Crate is the place to shop for local fruit and vegetables!

Awesome little place! Indoor farmer’s market! Small, but well stocked and a diamond in the rough. These are the kind of family run businesses that I believe in and we Texans should support! I bought 2 gigantic tomatoes, baby bella mushrooms, a small basket of strawberries and a bag of spinach all for 8 bucks. Everything looks so fresh, ripe and delicious! I will definitely be coming back!!! 5 stars all the way!

What a great find! It’s a small place, but they sure do pack a punch. We grabbed squash, cucumbers, plums, jalapenos, bell peppers, onions and some cheddar cheese for just about $ 20!!! They’re nestled back in the corner but there’s plenty of parking and they’re open 6 days a week which saves me from having to load up every Saturday at the markets. I will certainly be back!

Not sure when they opened but we discovered them this past spring. The produce mostly comes from different areas around Texas and New Mexico, although you will sometimes find produce from other areas including CA. We visited them several times this spring and summer and the selection was really good and VERY fresh. They carry the usuals such as sweet corn, cantaloupe, green beans, potatoes, tomatoes, squash, etc. as well as a few unique items from time to time. For instance, I discovered something new this summer called a «pluot.» It’s a cross between an apricot and a plum and it sure was delicious! Since they get their produce from various places, they are open year round. My first trip to check out their winter selection was today, but unfortunately they were closed :(I assume because of the holidays, but there was no sign on the door except for their regular operating hours. It’s not a very large place, but if you have ever been to a farmer’s market, you will know what to expect here — you get the same variety. The plus side about Straight from the Crate is that most of the items aren’t packaged in specific quantities like most farmer’s markets are. So if I only need one tomato, I don’t have to go buy three of them… You will pay a bit more than your normal chain grocery store, but the quality is much higher. From what I was told, one of the owners actually drives around TX to examine and bring the produce back. He even measures sugar levels in some of the really high sugar produce. There was some super sweet corn he had this year that he did that for and then something else that I don’t quite remember — might have been cantaloupe or something like that.
