My standards for adequate service are pretty low, especially when a restaurant has amazing food. Unfortunately, this restaurant has a mix of rude servers(the guy argued with multiple customers after he messed up their orders) and slightly below average food. Based on the overall experience, I would go to Mai Lee, which has similar food but better service, or try another Vietnamese place in St. Louis before coming back here.

Tried out this restaurant since I’m home for the holidays from California and wanted to try a new(er) Vietnamese place. It’s been around for 4 years apparently and is hidden behind a small plaza. Service was great, waiter checked in with us often. The food was okay but I guess that’s compared to Vietnamese food in San Jose. We got eggrolls for an appetizer which were thin and long. Tasted was a bit dry but not bad. For my meal I got Phở Tai which seemed bland as well but not too oily which I liked. The sliced beef was yummy and thought it was awesome how they had the small dipping plates already on the table.

In my opinion, I think Dao tian is the best Vietnamese restaurant in St.Louis. I have eaten there for 4 years. Awesome authentic food and superb service.

Definitely had an authentic Vietnamese feel they had everything on the menu that I would expect including Phở my personal favorite. Friendly staff and great service I’ll definitely go back again.

First time trying the phở here… The phở was actually very good it may be better then Mai lee! Although there veggies could be a little fresher I thought… Good portion at a good price! This mite be my new favorite phở spot! The place could use some new décor and the tables are a little cluttered… They also could use another server… If they have more then 3 tables you will be waiting forever… This was all before I found a bug in my soup…

Went back to this place for lunch this week. The owner actually had the nerve to say something about everyone being welcome accept for me. Can you believe the rudeness. Guess she read the review I wrote. Truth hurts. Please don’t bother with the place.

Such a good find! We have tried many Phở places, but this is our favorite in the area. The Phở itself has the best broth and their other dishes look so good! The atmosphere was very welcoming and the service was excellent. The owner came out and sat with everyone and chatted about what brought them in. A woman who was 103 years old came in, who was clearly a regular. The owner greeted her and her guest with a hug and then made sure every part of their meal was to their liking. She also did the same with us, which is something we have never experienced. They also gave a punch card for a free meal after four meals. This will be our new Phở spot!

This place is really good. Their phở was particularly good, and the owner lady came by and talked to us just to chit chat. She asked us if we wanted extra noodles and the wait staff was professional and friendly.

Best phở in St. Louis, hands down! The service is fantastic, and you get unlimited noodle refills which is AMAZING. Personally I prefer Dao Tien over Mai Lees for sure.

Super friendly staff. I have had phở in several Places in town, and to me this is the best broth in stl. Definitely going back to get some banh mi and try their vermicelli.

Sometimes there is just no way around it, you are craving Phở and you have to have it now. On a recent visit to St. Louis after having eaten Italian, Mexican and good old American, we were in the mood for something a little lighter, but still delicious. The answer — Vietnamese food. We pulled up on-line reviews and settled on Dao Tien Bistro. We had already read that it was located behind a strip mall and it was. Don’t let that location fool you, it is very nice inside and the service and food were both excellent! After looking at the menu, we settled on spring rolls, #37 — The Eye Round Beef Noodle Soup and #47 Spicy Lemon Grass Noodle Soup. The spring rolls were fresh and flavorful and the dipping sauce was perfect. My Eye Round Beef Noodle Soup was excellent. The broth was rich, the meat tender. All of the condiments were fresh. My husband’s Spicy Lemongrass Soup was also excellent. The best part was that we were about ¾ of the way done with our Phở when they came around and asked if we would like more noodles! We didn’t need any, but I thought that was perfect. The service was attentive, the food was excellent. We will definitely go back!

I’ve been experimenting with different Vietnamese places since moving away from Phở Grand, and this place is just ok. The service was good, and the meat and add-ins are on point, but the broth leaves a complexity of flavor to be desired. I probably won’t be back for a while, as I’d rather drive a little farther to have a more robust and flavorful phở base.

I had the chicken soup was fabulous. Good flavor, love the ginger taste. I have been coming here for almost 4 years. If anyone is unhappy they should to speak to the owner and she could take care of it. Anytime I may not like something she takes care of it right there. Diane has great respect for her food. I hope if anyone’s unhappy tell her and come back and she will take care of your problem. I have seen her take care, I have witness myself.

DON’T order the Phở Ga. We ordered To-Go and not sure if they thought we were idiots but the broth was literally bouillion chicken powder(pretty distinguishable taste) and a sad bit of julliened ginger floating at the bottom. There was absolutely no spices in the phở at all(at least throw in a cinnamon stick or something – try?!) It was a JOKE. And we were fooled. You’re better off with that instant phở stuff from the asian stores. And for reference, I’m Viet and I can cook everything on their menu. I just didn’t feel like it one night so decided to order out or sheer homesickness and laziness. Never again. I’m pretty torn since they do everything else well enough and authentically.

Friendly staff and quick service. Food is good and fresh and reasonably priced. One of my major cavils that barely costs them one star is the location. Secluded and sequestered, residing in an abandoned, deserted mini-mall(or more precisely a dilapidated remaining of a former mini-mall), with its shopfront evading from the street, the restaurant posed a real test for my google navigation and it couldn’t seem to find it easily as it found other Vietnamese places in the area.

The location is a bit odd… they are located behind a strip mall… seems sketchy but don’t be alarmed. Inside, it is brightly lit with most of the tables pushed towards the window front. I found it odd that top-40 was playing… I’ve never eaten Vietnamese food while listening to Megan Trainor… but I didn’t mind. The staff seemed in an upbeat mood and eager to serve. I had the hot pot flounder with some spring rolls. The food was good and it’s priced competitively. While Dao Tien isn’t all that romantic, quaint, or upscale, it does offer good food at good prices if you are looking for Vietnamese fare.

Bun Ga Nuong… Grilled chicken vermicelli is on POINT! — Savory meat… Not too salty. Just slightly sweet. — And fresh fresh herbs. Must have for me. — Fish sauce is light, not too overpowering Equals = deliciousness! I’ll have to come back and try the beef broth In the phở dish. That will be the big test. For now, 5 hours for the great food. And great service! The waitress was very attentive and quick. :)

I’ve given this place 2 stars simply because the staff is friendly. On the other hand… I was very disappointed with their food. I had did a carry out order of 7 banh mo dac biet. At first I thought they were pretty pricy considering all over places that have banh mi aren’t as expensive. I thought to myself that since its a little more expensive, it may have more meat or better ingredients. I was wrong!!! There were only a couple pieces of meat in the bread. Very little pâté, and an egg. That’s pretty much if. For almost 6 $ with tax for a banh mi you mine as well go else where. I had told my friend about it and showed her. Which she passed it back to the owners because they are friends. She told me they had an old man that made the banh mi but that’s not really an excuse. I don’t think I will be trying this place out for a long time…

Probably the best Vietnamese food in STL, there phở is as good as it can get. I like the Phở Duc Biet and their calamari with the spicy mayo. It’s a family owned buissness therefore you were treated like family.
