Edwards was so helpful in our time of grief when we lost our mother. From the time they arrived at our home to transport her body, until we picked up her ashes, we were treated with respect and compassion. They walked us through the difficult process and took care of all arrangements. I highly recommend Edwards Memorial Services.

My brother-​in-​law died in California. Since I wasn’t familiar with any of the funeral homes down there, I asked Derek if he could help me out. Derek helped me find a funeral home that took excellent care of me and my family. He went above and beyond to help me and received nothing in return.
I have referred friends and family to Derek and he has taken excellent care of them all. I have instructed my wife to contact Edwards if anything happens to me.
In a day and age where everyone seems to be into taking advantage, I find Edwards Memorial to be a breath of fresh air.

I’m going to be honest and up front about my experience with Derek at Edwards Memorial. Derek is the funeral director and apparent owner. My 21 year old brother passed away and we didn’t know what to do, so we turned to Derek to help guide us through these tough decisions. I found Derek to be extremely arrogant, disrespectful and slanderous towards other funeral homes. We had a consult over the phone with services offered; however, these service became undeliverable upon discussing at his office. He made arrangements to transport my brother’s body from the medical examiner without my consent. He arranged for my disable senior father to sign for the release his organization when I stepped out to consult with the rest of my family. I found this to be very deceptive and unethical. Although my father was coherent, he was in no position to make decisions and I made that very clear in the first few minutes of our meeting.
As we decided to go elsewhere and I attempted to block the transportation of my brother to Edwards Memorial, he spontaneously mentions that my brother’s body arrived and that we shouldn’t move him to any other location. I asked whether I can look and confirm; he stated that he would advise against it. I told him that I’ve made arrangements for another funeral home to receive my brother’s body and that we would not be requiring his services. At this point, he became very agitated and visibly red. He stated that he is the only funeral director that provide services on Saturday that aligns with traditional Cambodian services. He also said, «do you think I like working on the weekends? I do this for you people.» Trust me, I couldn’t make this up. I was shocked and appalled and honestly, it took every strength in me to not attack him.
House of Scott took very good care of us. They made the proper arrangements and provided services for us that Derek at Edwards Memorial service claimed that they could not deliver on. To go even further, Derek attempted to sabotage my brother’s cremation by attempting to book every available spot at a local crematorium. The crematorium professional made it clear that Derek called attempting to book every spot. That hurt as I did not think another person would go that far to prevent the gain by another funeral home.
In the end, Jimmy’s funeral and cremation was perfect and beautiful. There were some bumps in the road, but we gave him the service he deserved and more.
I’m not telling you to avoid Edwards Memorial Service, but I want you to ask yourself this question: are you comfortable with your loved one being prepared and being alone with this kind of human being. How sure are you that Edwards Memorial will give your loved one the respect and attention they deserve when you’re not looking? That’s something to consider when choosing a memorial service organization.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. if i could rate ZERO stars i would! we were left to wait outside until the scumbag owner showed up 25 minutes LATE. before making ANY arrangements, he made us call & have the medical examiner release my little brothers body to them… (which he was trying to make us feel obligated to do business w/​him)
he lied about discounts, additives, said we can have a package w/​o the casket then lied & said we NEED to buy 1. (we already bought one somewhere else prior to going to this business) this caused him to turn into a disgusting sales man that wanted nothing but our money.
he continued to slander other businesses in the same field. he told us in the middle of discussing prices «well i told u i only work weekdays. i don’t HAVE to work Saturdays.» (we requested a Saturday for my brothers funeral) that itself almost sparked a brawl between him & our family. we FELT soooo offended that we stayed until my little brothers body arrived just to have him transported to another funeral home (House of Scott in Tacoma)
BUT IM NOT DONE GUYS. House of Scott in Tacoma did an amazing job with everything. a day after my brothers cremation. the out sourced crematorium called to tell us that the same man from Edwards Memorial called & tried to book that entire Saturday to ruin my Bro’s ceremony. Edwards memorial has their own crematory so there’s NO REASON WHY HE SHOULDVE BEEN BOOKING ANY OTHER CREMATORIUM!
HE IS THE DEVIL. i can live & be happy knowing we didn’t go thru this disgusting funeral home. if you love your family you will take my word that this place is TERRIBLE. im warning you.
this caused a lot of heart ache & tears. the staff had no sympathy for what we were going thru w/​the loss of our youngest brother.

Bottom Line Up Front: If your loved one requires Military Honors for burial, ensure you get Edwards to explain the process and the timeline for securing Honor/​Color Guard burial Services to be rendered (such as the Firing Squad). Much room for improvement in Expectation Management and Communication.
My grandfather, a decorated WWII veteran had requested full military honors for his burial which took place in March 2015. My parents sought services from Edwards Memorial but management at Edwards was not effective in communicating expectations clearly to my family. Edwards committed to an unrealistic timeline (of two days) to conduct the burial, and thus was unable to procure proper resources for Full Honors with Firing Squad for my grandfather. In some areas the local Navy Installation may not provide a Firing Squad based on limited assets BUT there are other sources (local Veterans Service Organizations and various local military installations) that could provide the Firing Squad services but they must be given enough advance notice, so that they can fulfill the request.
Edwards should have clearly explained that they did not have enough time to provide the firing squad, before inking the contract and taking payment. Edwards should explain to the customer what is reasonable to expect, let them know there are no promises, let the customer decide if Full Honors with Firing Squad takes priority over Schedule –OR– if the Schedule is the priority and military honors are secondary? Let the customer make this informed decision, by informing them. The average person off the street is not going to understand the Honor Guard is a volunteer force and takes time to schedule and secure. Edwards should be cautious to operate business based upon assumptions that a local organization will jump to meet their emergency (created by an aggressive schedule).
Poor planning on your part, Edwards, does not constitute an emergency for the local Veterans Service Organizations and Local Military Installation Color Guard/​Honor Guard. Do your homework, know what you are up against. You have been in business long enough to know better.
The prices for burial services were fair and reasonable but I am grading them poorly for their lack of communication on this delicate Military Veteran matter.

With the recent death of my grandmother, I was left to the unpleasant task of making final arrangements, and doing so with limited time and a small budget. I did some «comparison shopping» and was very fortunate to have found Edwards Memorial. They were very understanding, easy to work with, and extremely affordable. I spoke with an assortment of other funeral homes who were pretty patronizing and really skirted the cost issue when I asked about the final price. I received great service from Edwards and they made a painful experience more bearable. Skip the others and call Edwards. (Sidenote: If you’re ever going to die, maybe let people know what you want and make arrangements for it ahead of time!)
