I stopped here on my way out of town and was pleasantly surprised. A great assortment of vegetarian food to choose from. Extremely tasty. I will come back.

Everything was very flavorful, albeit, portions were on the smaller side. It wasn’t oily and didn’t give me stomach issues, as some food has affected it. The samosas were flakey and hot. I only wish there was mint chutney instead of jalapeño for this warm season. The alu gobi was delicious! And this is coming from a girl who’s typically a fan of paneer centric dish. I would stop by again.

This place exemplifies why family owned restaurants are always superior. Great table side manner and friendly conversation. Amazing food with such a positive vibe in the«cleanest restaurant» my 8 years says she’s been to.

We were looking for a local vegetarian cuisine and my husband dragged me into this place. I really did not want to go because I wasn’t in the mood for oily Indian food(I’ve had okay experiences before). Let me just state that after my first time, I am now always in the mood for this food. I can eat it everyday. We come here at least once a week. We are already regulars and the staff knows us. Today I got a hug from one of the cooks and that made me feel very special. She always comes to talk to my girls to see how they are doing and if they like the food. My favorite is the Paneer Butter Masala and the Chole. I always order the Puri and Roti with butter. The best part of the meal is that this family cooks from the heart. You can really taste it in every plate. Every dish is made to order and very healthy. The service is exceptional and there is a really sweet Korean young man who is very knowledgeable in Indian cuisine and is always willing to share his knowledge and recommendations. Food is the one thing that unites us and this place truly is a BLESSING to my family and anybody else who dines here. It is an unforgettable experience!

The spinach paneer is tasty and had a nice kick to it, the dish had a very soft and mooshy consistency, and came with two pieces of naan. I also ordered the masala wrap which had curry spiced potatoes and onions in there. All in all it was wayyyy too much food for just one person but it was tasty and I devoured it all. The restaurant itself is neat and clean and the owners are nice. Will def come back again for more veggy Indian goodness

Stopped by after dr appointment — had Khasta Kachori Chaat & Shaak Thelpa with peas & potatoes veggie with yogurt. The yogurt cools down the veggie. Thelpa is a fenugreek leaf tortilla. Hmmmm my new favorite! Funny I have not had their Naan since they reopened. Oh well next time.

What a tremendous, incredible find! I would give this place seven stars if I could! My wife and I walked in for date night, looking for something new and healthy, but not knowing much about Indian food. We were immediately impressed by the warm and heartfelt welcome we received by the family who owns and operates the place, like we were family coming over for dinner. The older lady who served us was very helpful and personable. She explained the dishes to us in a way that helped us make the right selections, and chatted with us multiple times along the way. Her recommendations were spot on, and the food was incredible. We had an amazing appetizer(I took a picture, check it out), and two simply wonderful dinner plates that we both found delicious, authentic(as far as we know!), and well presented as well. If we were locals, we agreed we’d definitely be regulars here for lunch and dinner. The prices are unbelievable. The total bill for both of us, including a generous tip, was under $ 40. When we left, I told the lady who had served us something I’d never told anyone at a restaurant before: «We felt like we’d been invited into your home.»

This is one of the few places in LA that serves homestyle Indian vegetarian food. As far as I know, it is owned by a family from Mumbai. The chefs at Ashirwad cook each dish one by one, following the same recipe that is used in their home. No giant pots of curries made with boxed masala, reheated dishes from a steam table, or buffet leftovers cooked more than once. They don’t have a freezer or microwave. Everything is made fresh to order and cooked with less oil than the typical Indian restaurant. If you’re looking for some variety, try their thali, an individual platter that’s portioned for lunch or dinner. It comes with two servings of seasonal vegetable curries that you get to select, based on the vegetables that the family purchased for the day. I had the muthiya(squash cooked with bite-sized flour dumplings) and red chori(boiled adzuki beans in a mild gravy). The thali also includes kadhi(sour and slightly sweet curd mixture, somewhat soupy) which is a Gujarati staple, a snack portion of sev khamani(steamed brittle cake made with wheat and chick pea flour), raita(yogurt), and 4 pieces of soft rotli(unleavened bread). Everything is vegetarian and yet addictively tasty. None of the curry bases were similar in taste. There was a balance in savory and sweet flavors, with just the right amount of heat. Not overloaded with spices. I asked for no ghee in the rotli, and everything was cooked clean. None of the food appeared to contain artificial preservatives or food coloring, I was very happy to see that, because that is almost always not the case for Indian restaurants offering buffets. For once, I was able to leave without feeling bloated or with a heavy stomach after consuming a lot of Indian food. Be sure to save room for dessert, because Ashirwad serves amazing Indian sweets. I had their kheer, which was probably the best I’ve ever had. It was a thick rice pudding infused with strong toasted cardamom flavor, not so heavy-handed with sugar or heavy cream like at other places. Ashirwad is not fancy, does not have WIFI, does not have an all you can eat buffet, does not serve naan or tikka masala… but it’s very clean(recently renovated), committed to serving healthy vegetarian food from the Gujarati region of India, specifically Mumbai style(vegan options are also available), and eating here is as close as it gets to being served a homecooked meal from an Indian family.

Living in Southern California, there are limited options for Indian food that’s not drenched in oil and charge you an arm and a leg for one dish. So to my surprise, I come across this place in Upland! It has all types of Indian food varieties ranging from appetizers to full lunch/dinner entrees! OH. MY. GOD. THEFOODISSODELICIOUS! You can taste the freshness, the spices… everything! My taste buds wanted more and more! *Food Quality&Quantity: 5 Stars *Service: 5 Stars! The people are really attentive and so nice! They can recommend anything based on your likes(: *Prices: I ate like a Queen and it’s definitely well-priced! Not like the other restaurants that kill my bank account! To all the first timers who are new to Indian food, I highly recommend Khasta Kachori for a Gujurati appetizer. They are«Crispy Puri pockets, stuffed with potatoes and roasted spices, topped with yogurt, onion, cilantro and sweet and sour chutney». Also, try the Mango Lassi for a drink. COMEHEREIFYOULOVEFOOD! It’s definitely worth the trip and I drove from LA! I hope they open more locations!

My friends and I’s absolute FAVORITE place to go out to eat together. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and happy to explain anything on the menu. They recently did a renovation, and the space is newer, larger, and more open. The food is consistently delicious every time we go. Ask them about their specials — my friends and I love to get their eggplant specials(we’ve tried both) and their okra special. Other than that, we almost always get the samosas and the palak paneer(my favorite). The mango lassi and the masala tea also never disappoint. If you’re looking for some authentic, home-cooked, vegetarian food, look no further — this is the spot.

If you find yourself in Upland/Ontario area, you might think you’re in a culinary wasteland of chain restaurants. But then there is the curiously named Ashirwad The Blessings. We happened to come here, totally unaware they just completed a remodel to enlarge and beautify the space. They were still working on some finishing touches, but it now seems to be a much larger and bright space then it apparently used to be. The owner and staff were extremely accommodating and helpful with the menu, eager to make sure our needs were met and to give menu recommendations. Really had that mom & pop feel. Fairly priced as well. This is not a typical buffet style Indian restaurant. It was more like Indian«home cooking» and had many interesting options I haven’t seen before. It felt more like a culinary journey than a typical Indian restaurant experience. Don’t shy away because it is vegan & vegetarian. One would not even notice it. Everything was so interesting and flavorful, who needs meat? I think there would be a lot more vegetarians in this world if restaurants put so much effort into non-meat dishes. So very often the vegetarian dishes are an after thought or not the house specialty. It’s nice to go to a place that really excels at vegetarian food that is meant to be vegetarian, that is not just poorly mimicking dishes that typically would include meat. I wish this place continued success and will definitely return!
