This is a neat place! In traveling on business from NY and stopped here for lunch. The food was very good for the type. It was simple but very tasty… Well done for this type of establishment. The ice cream and shake selection is phenomenal! 100 types of each … Left me drooling. I liked the style and vibe of this place. Definitely recommend if you are in the area !

Growing up in the area Ivanhoe’s was always a top 5 go to for my family and overall community staple. Earlier this year I was surprised to see Ivanhoe’s featured on Timeout magazine’s top ice cream establishment’s in America, which really surprised me. Ivanhoe’s offers the typical burger, fries and milkshake that you would expect from a restaurant in this market. While everything is good — I wouldn’t say that anything is great — albeit, one of the best ice cream shops in this area.

Great ice cream but the way ordering and picking up works is an absolute mess. If you want ice cream you go to this line, if you want food you go to this line, while there’s about three entrances to the store on each side of ever line allowing people to come in and immediately cut in line with no words from the staff. This place needs a better ordering system and less entrances. Can’t say enough good about the ice cream, however.

I got the kids size scoop, thinking that it was going to be a wee little scoop, but BOY was I wrong. I would say that their kids scoop is like a regular at other places. The ice cream was really good. I got fudge almond. Needless to say, I couldn’t finish it all since I didn’t think that I was going to be served so much.

After so many rave reviews I was very disappointed. My husband had a hamburger that was so-so and I had the chicken salad which was the same. Yes they have a lot of ice cream choices but it wasn’t any better than anywhere else. I won’t be going back.

I’ve been coming here for years! Best ice cream around. I love their strawberry shortcake. It can get pretty crowded here in the summer but that’s half the fun. Waiting to get to the front of the line so order your delicious shake or sundae. Last weekend my family and I sat outside and enjoyed our shortcake. I’ll keep coming back because I love this place so much!

There really isn’t much going on in this town besides Ivanhoe’s, but they sure jam pack a lot of enthusiasm into this restaurant. Unfortunately, we had about a 40 minute wait for our carry out sandwiches that were alright. The s’mores ice cream sundae was very delicious though.

A local staple and busy as a beehive regardless of the time of the day. First come first served tables. Order at the counter. Prepare to wait for a while… The list of sundaes and shakes is four large pages of tiny shrift — it would probably take five visits just to just read it. Randomly choosing or throwing a dart would work too — all are good. If in doubt, go for a mini size. Large sundae is the size of a mixing bowl. The food options are basic, but fresh: chicken and pork sandwiches, burgers, a couple of salads. A memorable place if you are in the area.

Great shakes and sandwiches! Staff was friendly and efficient. I had the chocolate peanut plus shake and the Big Panther. Both were delicious.

I grew up in Upland and would have Ivanhoes once a week. Excellent food, service and selections. I remember as a kid if you brought your report card in they would give you free ice cream. Best pulled pork sandwiches in the county and killer cheese fries. Mmm :-)

We were taking a ride, to see the beautiful spring EVE, & get some food. We stopped in another town, for dinner, and then headed for the popular IVANHOE Drive In. We heard of their famous desserts, but learned that their meals are EXCELLENT too. We selected from their 100’s of choices for DESSERTS. ITWASGREAT, but we want to go back for their other popular sundaes.

One of your best options if you are in Upland expect a crowd though. Shakes are delicious, sundaes are too, but sometimes can be overwhelming with the hot fudge. Salads are large and tasty as well.

Stopped off here with the kiddos while en route from Fort Wayne to Indianapolis and it was well worth the slight detour. The food was great, especially the gator tots and onion rings. The best part, however, were the shakes. This was our third burger/shake side trip of our traveling around that part of Indiana and they won best shakes, hands down. They also had the hugest selection with 100 shake and 100 sundae combinations to choose from! As a bonus they have one of the Garfield sculptures outside and photos of the rest that are displayed throughout the county. Although it says Drive-In there is plenty of seating inside.

Great place to eat, excellent selection of ice cream. Relaxed atmosphere, close to Taylor University. I must admit the fruit with chicken salad is my favorite but the fried chicken salad is just as good.

I used to live in Fort Wayne, so going to Ivanhoe’s was a special treat that we would get maybe a few times a year. But now, much to my sweet tooth’s delight(and wallet and waistline’s dismay), I live in Indy and a short detour to this spectacular drive-in on my way to visit family in The Fort is easy peasy and a regular occurrence. Their huge selection of ice cream treats — 100 different sundaes and 100 different shakes — means there’s something for everyone(plus you can customize these flavors or make your own concoction if you want). Their food is delicious, reasonably priced, and comes in large portions. Seriously, I don’t recommend eating a whole tenderloin sandwich and order of onion rings before chowing down on a big, chocolatey sundae… it’s doable, but you might just hate yourself after. What’s really impressive is that they can get through a pretty long line for ice cream very quickly. The workers know what they’re doing and do it well. So, what are the downsides? Well, the only time you’ll experience a delay is when you order some food, as they seem to make everything fresh. This means waiting a bit for that order of onion rings I mentioned earlier, but I think it’s worth it to have them hot and fresh out of the fryer. Also, the place tends to fill up quickly during prime hours. There’s a lot of tables, but a lot of people want ice cream. If you’ve got a big group I would recommend getting there before /after their peak hours so you can get enough tables to seat everyone. Ivanhoe’s is my all time favorite stop between Indy and Fort Wayne. The food is wonderful, the ice cream is delicious, the service is quick, and the prices are reasonable. What else could you possibly want?

I love finding places like this when I travel. It’s kind of divey, but a fun place to get ice cream just about any way you can think of. They have 100 sunday’s &100 shakes. The burger was like the old-fashioned diner style with some really great flavor.

People drive all the way from Muncie(40 minutes) to Upland just to have ice cream at Ivanhoe’s. Is it worth it? You bet it is. The burgers, fries, and onion rings are all solid, and I’m a fan of the cherry lemonade, but the ice cream is the star of the show. They have over 100 flavors of shakes and 100 types of sundaes. Most of them are over the top. That’s a good thing. There is usually a line to get ice cream, and if you wait in it, you’ll find out why.

Classic ice cream and burger joint. 100 shakes and 100 sundaes on the menu will send your mind into overdrive. Expect long lines in the winter, and longer lines in the summer. Worth the wait? Yep. Every time.

It gets no better than Ivanhoe’s! The cornucopia of handmade shakes and sundaes will overwhelm you! Try a pizza burger, onion rings and soda… it will make your day!
