Can’t put my taste bud on exactly what makes custard different from ice cream or froyo, except for the heightened creaminess and smoothness — BUT, wow. Yum!(Wait, I guess it’s the egg?) Pineapple and custard are a match made in heaven, and it’s love child is a waffle cone. Perfect way to indulge on an otherwise boring Spring afternoon — and apparently a great place to hold an impromptu meeting. Everyone loves mid-day custard! Inside isn’t much to behold, and there were at least a half-dozen soccer moms in with their 2 to 4 kids getting an after-school snack, but we settled in quite nicely with our treats and went about our conversation. I was even tempted to try their few offerings of actual lunch-like snacks! Threw me for a loop with an actual ‘menu’ — albeit small. If not for the to-go pints of custard, go here for custard in general — a great alternative for your ice cream or froyo.

This place rocks so much I’m not even embarrassed about saying«rocks». Do people even still say rocks? Well, they shouldn’t, because I’m sure whatever they’re talking about doesn’t rock as much as Whit’s. Frozen custard in the first place is always a good idea. Always. You can quote me on it. On top of that, Whit’s always has chocolate, vanilla, a weekly flavor, and a daily flavor. Consider the options here, friends! So many options! I come to Whit’s and specifically this location proportionately to the number of days in a row it doesn’t snow in Columbus. Also, the owner is great. We went in today for the first time since the frozen tundra weather broke at 810PM, not realizing they close at 8. The owner was totally nice about it(and not in a fake I-want-your-money way, in a genuine I’m-happy-you-know-the-happiness-of-custard-in-your-heart-way) and got us some frozen custard anyway. Maybe it was the scary need in our eyes, but I like to think he’s just a great customer service oriented guy like that. I am a big time sucker for the Sweet Scioto sundae, so I owe you a high five if you realize the amazingness of that too. Yay, Whit’s!

Whit’s rocks. In the immortal words of the Teletubbies, «tubbie-custard, tubbie-tubbie-custard!»

Eggs. I love eggs. So natch, I love the creamy, smooth, rich goodness of a traditional custard. And that’s what I got at Whit’s. The flavors you will find are Vanilla, Chocolate and a weekly flavor. I was able to try the vanilla, chocolate and black raspberry chip. The vanilla is incredibly creamy, while my favorite was the chocolate. Many chocolate purists will tell you that the egg distracts from the flavor of the chocolate. But I don’t care. Other weekly flavors I have seen are kinda… not that enticing. I’ve seen Raspberry Brownie Fudge Ripple. The Black Raspberry Chip is alright, but I will stick to Graeter’s version. No matter. The Chocolate will most definitely keep me coming back.
